I can't comprehend people who played both and thought BotW was a better experience. TotK is just BotW but with more, and better stuff in it, emphasis on "better". BotW looks flat by comparison, and that's what it always made me feel. A flat experience that everyone fucking adores for "some reason". Playing TotK was like "okay, that was at least better but it still overall sucks."

And it's not like 2020 lacked good vidya either. Doom: Eternal, Hades, Spelunky 2, Ultrakill, and even more normalfag-friendly options like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Genchink Impact, and Ghosts of Tsushima.

But no, they gave it to TLOU2 which completely invalidates any awards given from that point forward. An objectively 3/10 video game won GOTY, and its TV adaptation is also getting absolutely torn to shreds today by a non-gamer audience so it's not just us being weird.

I mean all 3D Zeldas are "good" so probably. even SS is a 7/10

TOTK was too big for its own good though, and they would have benefited in picking either the Underground or the Sky, scrapping the other, and putting all their focus on giving that overworld content, and adding more to the BOTW land.

Two content filled overworlds would have been better than 2 lets face it incomplete ones and BOTW Hyrule with random blocks literally dumped over it. 6 years of development makes this even more laughable. Instead ofusing the time to focus on making a full game, they kept flipflopping ideas with the physics engine and not really doing much with the two admittedly cool looking overworlds.

And yet can't OP name a better game.

3/10 is a fair score for the game. Awful gameplay, awful story, awful music, awful characters... the only things it had going for it were graphical fidelity and the fact that it functioned. The scenery DID look nice.

My first Zelda was Wind Waker and I've played all the Zeldas except for the CD-I games, the Four Swords/Triforce Heroes games, and Link's Crossbow Training.

I just wish the 3rd Oracle game came to be. Farore's a cutie pie and even only a handful of extra dungeons would've been neat.

BotW and TofK BTFO every other 3D Zelda. It's actually painful playing them now. They seem so antiquated.

I have to admit that I just don't enjoy playing the old Zelda 3D games. They're so slow and waste so much time. Dungeons aren't fun, they're more of a slog you have to suffer through before you get to fight a fun boss and go back to the overworld. I've never actually enjoyed a single dungeon in the 3D games, and the only dungeons in the series I enjoyed are in the original, ALttP, and Oracles.

3D Zelda games just aren't good. All they have going for them is their presentation and music. The gameplay is mediocre and the story is bad to mediocre. I have fond memories of them, but actually replaying them is a chore.

Speak for yourself. I love both BotW and TotK. Hell, I even love Echoes of Wisdom. I love the freedom in these games. It's exactly what I enjoy - the freedom to explore an interesting world with interesting things to do.

BotW/TotK hate is overblown. Every other 3D Zelda is worse in its own unique way.
