I think the lack of the Nintendo logo on the hat is kinda lame though for angles where the new pin isn't visible like in the OP pic, and while I didn't mind it intially, seeing edits of his eyes without the skin seperating them makes me a little iffy on that too

I understand why they finally got rid of it, it only fit with dixie had her rare emblem, without the rare emblem, it lost all its meaning. The logos on the hats were supposed to show a union between rare and nintendo and without that union, diddy’s nintendo logo lost all meaning

Near objective improvement. They've fixed the fuckugly retractable teeth on both him and DK and his proportions are nicer. The pin on his cap is more fun than the Nintendo logo, too. Not big on the weird tiny strip of skin separating the eyes, but the other improvements are worth that one.

They wanted to separate his eyes since Nintendo historically struggles with cartoony elements like Monoeyes in 3D (See: Everything about Yoshi's design)
I honestly don't expect that element to last more than a couple years, they'll probably iterate on it.

Not a fan of the line in-between his eyes. Why is it skin colored? If you wanted to do the whole DK thing, you HAVE to redesign the whole face.

Cranky's design already was tweaked harder years ago, so he didn't need it much compared to DK.
