Asriel is Deltarune's biggest basedjak setup. Toriel mentions his name and him returning from college right before the music goes all out, and then you've got the big question mark that is Ralsei and his significance as a name scramble.
Practically every location in Hometown gives you a chance to learn about Asriel, and Kris's relationship to him.
Asriel alone is basically capable of being a chapter set piece. A whole chapter could just be walking around in the light world with him and the community would lose their collective minds.

I like those fights where the bullet patterns are influenced by the character's motivations and Toby must like it too because he sneaks one in every game so far. In Undertale there's the fight with Toriel, at low HP she starts intentionally avoiding the player. In Deltarune chapter 1 there's Susie vs Lancer, same deal, and in chapter 2 there's this unique variation where Berdly intentionally aims at Kris instead of Noelle. Can't wait to see what else he's cooking.
