Verso can do quite a bit of damage with base attack+free aim, also he's got one of the best spell that hit all enemies.

It's not even as good as 6 and 7. FF9 is the most overrated game in series. It's like a Disney movie with the most sluggish combat in any FF game.

Nerf yourself and slow down in Act 3. You outscale things so fast, it becomes really disappointing. If you want some tips, it's better to pick out your support for the group and go all in on that aspect for them. Most people use Sciel for this, but Monoco and Verso can do it, too. Lune can do it, but it's better to do a sort of hybrid build for her, in my opinion. If you want some idea on what to focus to make each characters to do more damage, try these combinations.

Verso

Contorso - Free aim luminas
Corpeso - Base attack and burn luminas

Lune

Kralim - EVERY FUCKING DAMAGE LUMINA and abuse Storm Caller/Typhoon to enable Elemental Genesis. You don't even have to focus on that, because you can use Hell and Lightning Dance to great effect with this weapon, as well. It's overtuned.

Monoco

Joyaro - standard damage lumina build
Urnaro - mix between damage and breakbar damage. Abuse Dualiste Storm. If you don't have it, any break bar skill will do and you pair it up with Sakapatate Fire.

Sciel

Funny, I actually didn't mind Cielo at all. He is fine as a character. I'm talking more along the lines of when tensions rise and characters like Jenna speak, as well as to me the worst example and completely takes me out of it is how the Serph twist was handled. From the dialogue, the voice acting and how the cutscenes played out, it's just so Japanese and anime-like. It's a very serious scene that's quite dark, yet I can't think of it as anything more than anime. I really do like JRPG. I grew up with it, but I can't do it anymore as a grown as man. The genre is not for me.

Quite similar but it improves some stuff combat wise. One thing is that your companion is a basic dog, so you wont get interrupted by magic casting at all unless you decide to cast a spell. Also, magic is actually alchemy, which means that to cast a spell you don't consume mana points but items. I though this was nice because it makes you explore more so you find those ingredients while also making it so magic spamming isn't as doable as in the mana games, which slowed the pace of the combat a lot in those games.

Aside from the combat improvements (less magic casting and faster pace) I love the OST (first work of Jeremy Soule) and the setting. From jungles and a volcano to greek and egyptian ruins, plus many others. It's just a very cool adventure.
