You can do some things like like shoot grenades at the cacodemon to stagger it for an immediate glory kill, but it's quicker to just kill it with a ballista combo.
The DLCs add some bad mechanics where only some enemies can be killed with specific guns.

It lacks grit. He looks like a power ranger. Demons just look like chitinous playdough aliens instead of goat horned flaming children of the devil. The gore looks doesn't look gruesome and painful, it's all overly bright almost pink blood and lacks any real impact, the death animations for enemies in the original game are more fucked up. Hell looks like a generic wasteland with none of the surrealism and abstract freaking shit like walls of screaming faces, floating eyeballs and seas of flesh the original had. The goofy generic looking lazer swords and similar things everywhere remind me of bright flashing action figures, they don't feel or look like actual deadly weapons. None of the horror elements of the original games are present at all (inb4 retards who only played the games many years later with WASD and the over the top Doom comic in mind say it was never scary, you weren't arrow key turning like kid me about to shit my pants at a Spectre ain the dark). There's no real sense of seriousness or gravitas, it's all very tongue in cheek and pg13. The story is ridiculous and tries to create a ton of "lore" that's just a bunch of silly alien names and terminologies like Argent Energy and Maykrs, which further removes it from the fire and brimstone Hell of the earlier games and makes it feel more like generic scifi instead of battling demonspawn.

It's worth nothing that original Doom's artistic direction was heavily influenced by heavy metal albums and fantasy art of the time, the developers were huge D&D nerds. This new direction feels, as a poster above me said, like Michael Bay's Transformers in appearance.
