I was a Viscerafest beta tester who got access to the final version before release. That's simply not true. The bosses were too difficult and were somewhat nerfed. Chapter 3 was unbalanced but that's because the publisher forced them to release the game before it was ready.

Most of the balancing changes aren't major. They just made the difficulty curve a bit smoother and made the different difficulties more distinct. If you played the early access version and the final version they're broadly the same.

It's not in text dumps. It's in the main story scenes which are blatantly HL2-like. Nyarlathotep is basically the game's version of the G-Man. Same weird speech cadence and everything. The game's design is a hybrid of a 90s shooter and Half-Life. Most of the story is told in first person.

Nyaruko is bidding Xis time for Azathoth finally awakening from inside Caroline. and possibly xe is gonna guide her thru more missions on the cosmic dark realm in between.

The whole point is that when she's pretending to be a normal person she doesn't look like that. Her eyes are the same colour. Her teeth are blunter. When she starts killing, her appearance gets more and more Lovecraftian. Her eyes change to different colours. Her teeth get sharper. And her mouth stretches wider than a human's should. The game's Doom-style damage thing literally shows her morphing between states.
