K, but first of all acknowlage that getting catred (in mh terms) is part of the fun. Notorious failures that help you find your own solutions to each obsticle is the real journey of this game.
And reading what's written below can make this journey unsatisfying, compared to learing it yourself.
Now putting that aside
Acknowledge that ranged charcters run this game, so center your strategy around them
If your characters are too far from enemy to stage proper attack, place the in-ward the corner's wall to ranged avoid counter-attack (obsticals block ranged attacks)
Sometimes it's better to not attack/kill enemy units with your melee troops, because they leave the cover
Also place your ranged characters a zone behind melee ones, as to not to be targeted by enemy melee units
If you have no choice you can place your fragile character inside the texture (but slightly behind) of the bulkier unit to them tank incoming projectiles (you are greatly rewarded for precise movement placement)
Try to keep whole party within close distance of one another or it will get very akward
All units be ally or foe are limited to 2 zones movement per turn, abuse this limitation to your advantage
ALWAYS switch to first person POV when using ranged attack, to not shoot your own party in the back
Place units as far away from each other and read what each different party's attack buff does (difference can be very substential)(they are documented on gfaq)
Checkpoints are very rare and deceptive
Movement outside of battle is a slog, no way around it
Systematically eliminate enemies by their turn priority (arrenged alphabetically in Ui above) so that they never get thier proper turn
Healing damages undead
You can "turn off th anime" in the options (I know, pretty based ngl)
Geoff can gun
Zake is liability
