Last time I played an rpg that felt truly great and not just great because critics and weebs said so was FFX. This felt like that. And I've liked some of the recent rpgs like DQXI and XVI, but none of them had the same weight that the greats did when the credits rolled. 33 felt like a substantial journey with characters worth caring about. It was also fun. I'm glad I played it and honestly it's killed my motivation to play other shit because the surrounding vidya just doesn't compare.

I haven't played it but I read the plot synopsis, and I can definitively conclude that the story is utter shit tier. Judging by the few clips that I watched of the game, gameplay consists of bottom of the barrel tier JRPG slop with some parry windows.

I can't give it a rating but based on what I know it's certainly not worth any asking price. Probably wouldn't even pirate it.

Great, 9/10. My only problem is the balancing, by the time you get to act 3 and unlock the paint power picto you have to gimp yourself to not completely steamroll everything immediately. It isn't even a matter of looking up guides or whatever, you do it easily just by trying to build your character normally. Acts 1 to 2 when you have a max damage limiter is really fun but Act 3 you suddenly go from like 9,999 dmg to 40 million and skipping every fight. When you have to intentionally play worse to rebalance it yourself it's a lot less fun. Imo the max damage per hit should be somewhere from 250k to 500k.

You're missing out on a LOT of story stuff if you don't do all the side quest shit in Act 3. The relationship quests are easy though, since it's just one quest per person and the rest are just cutscenes.

How the FUCK is Maelle's ending the BAD end? Painted Verso is a selfish piece of shit that doesn't care for anything other than getting a chance to off himself. So many of those areas you finally get access to and the majority of them are retarded wastes of time like fighting a mime to get bald. I can't see myself ever playing it a second time. Good game. WAY more people played Monster Hunter, and will probably play Nightreign and Palworld. I'm only guessing that Palworld will get its 1.0 in 2025, but remember whatever your opinion on it was it had over 2 million peak concurrent, Expedition 33 peaked at 144k.

Or how I backtracked to the very first area of the game and traced back my steps area for area the moment I got Monoco in order to collect feet.
How I then went back to the first area and traced back all my steps again the moment I got the reward for 4 lost gestrals.
How I kept the EXP levels of TeamA the same to the number at all times and went through the trouble to even out the EXP if story somehow forced one to get ahead in EXP. And how I would reload my saves if a party member fell behind in EXP.
How I did the same to keep TeamB even with each other.
Etc, etc.

If you spend 15 minutes farming at Dark Shores you're going to be overpowered for everything besides some of the superbosses, but if you don't then there's only a couple of places you can go where you can actually do decent damage and not get one shot. And for some reason the level 33 weapon upgrade almost doubles your weapon's attack so then you start one shotting the superbosses too.

Then I decided on a change of strategy that gave me so much Gradient that I could not just do Verso's Gradient3 like I was doing before in order to deal damage and make sure that he wouldn't get deleted the moment he fell. And somehow still have enough Gradient for Maelle to get enough Gradient for Gradient3 on her turn too.
Little did I know that Gommage would obliterate Simon.

Afterwards I strongly considered reloading my previous save and simply not use Gommage. But eventually I decided that I could just NG+ later instead and refight Simon then.

The fastest farm is fighting the merchant at Renoir's Drafts with a Maelle one shot build but using Phantom Strike instead of Stendhal. She gets 2450000 EXP, everyone else gets half of that. You also get free upgrade materials, recoats and lumina each time. The fight takes like 6 sec, then going through the menus takes another 4, it's very fast.

it was okay. it did take me back to classic jrpgs and when i used to get excited when a new tales of or star ocean dropped and i'd get up early to go buy them. wasn't a fan of all the qtes and not having more gear but other than that i really like the story, music, characters, and world. the overworld is impressive but most area you find in it are pretty shallow unless they're story related. i don't like that there are multiple endings but whatever. it's a solid 7.

Painted Renoir had no real reason to kill the expeditioners. They technically should be on the same side.

The only reason he could have is that if he kills them himself it prevents them being killed by nevrons meaning the chroma potentially goes to Aline.

However the whole point is that Aline is painting the number to show who she can protect. She wants to protect them. Then Painted Renoir just kills them? This would make Painted Renoir directly go against Alines wishes.

But what actually makes sense is if he'd tell them the truth and recruit the expeditions against Real Renoir. Expedition 60 even came to this conclusion completely on their own so it's unlikely Painted Renoir would not be able to convince them.

Humans are fragile creatures, Verso also didn't want anything to do with expeditions at this point.
