letting people live juts brings more suffering into the world
Is this even a realistic perpective for a villain?
No one IRL would have this kind of headspace, right? Some biracial weirdo doesn't seem realistic.

live
just be an unsent, easy
His worldview is objectively true.
just be an unsent
Lmao, that’s literally the plot of half of FFX. But for real, it kinda makes sense in a twisted way. Like, if you believe existence itself is suffering, then removing life = mercy. It’s basically nihilism cranked to anime villain levels. It only works because the world around them half-agrees—or is miserable enough that it’s tempting.
THERE WILL BE PEACE
THERE WILL BE QUIET
Stop making me want to replay X, I have too much other shit to play.
its called anti-natalism and its a real perspective real people have, usually developed by people who have experienced a lot of suffering themselves and want to prevent it from happening to anyone else.
There are many, many people in the real world that have views similar to this. They're often young, but you'd be surprised what lack of community and real connection / relationships can do to a nigga. Anti-natalists are a real thing
dies
doesn't kill anyone but himself
No villain would be this incompetent IRL right?
several mass shooters have done this
I never got how Yuna getting hitched would somehow fix racial relations when Seymour himself is already a halfbreed. Surely the other Guados would want Seymour to get with a guado woman so that their religious leader's child doesn't suddenly become human.
The while seymour subplot was slapped on at the last moment. It serves no purpose beside giving a humanized villain to make up for sin just being a giant mollusk
letting people live juts brings more suffering into the world
Not only do a lot of people actually think like this, but there have been numerous philosophical movements in many cultures which take this as read. Hell, it's pretty much the central pillar of the arguments in favor of euthanasia and, to a certain degree, abortion.
This is why villains like this appear so often in storytelling. Yeah, it's pretty rare for someone with this mindset to attain any degree of actual power, because few people will be properly motivated to follow them, but it is a perspective that one has to be prepared to confront.
You can dismiss it as an "I'm 14 and this is deep" philosophy, but it's actually pretty common for people whose sense of meaning or purpose has been shaken to come to this conclusion. I myself struggled with it a lot when I had to drop out of college and I came to realize that the churches in my area were all full of shit. When there isn't a lot of beauty in your life and you've been a frequent victim of unkindness, it's easy to feel like life is nothing but suffering, and that the best possible outcome would be its swift end. I got over it eventually, but I had to re-evaluate some of my fundamental presumptions about the nature of life and what is meaningful.
Fear not, anon. Many people do see life as meaningless suffering, but you're not wrong to disagree.
The only reason he wanted to kill people was due to the cycle of death within spira, he believed that people must die in order for others to live. This is why he wanted to become Sin, he wanted to become Yu Yevon's summoning and end the cycle of summoners so that Sin would be ever lasting. He pushed harder than ever before because he realized Yuna and Tidus were planning to defeat Sin once and for all without the final summoning. This is why he desperately tried to coax her into marrying him, so he could become the final aeon and force Yuna to die along with him
The plot was there from the moment you meet him, as I said his goal is and always was to put a stop to the pilgrimage of summoners so that he could remain Sin for eternity and bring about a never ending cycle of death
I'm not defending his character though so don't get me wrong, he's a failed Sephiroth clone
Love for the unborn children
Okay Im confident that one samefag is making all these FFX threads cause he just finished playing it. Fuck off
No one IRL would have this kind of headspace, right?
Nigga there's an entire cult called anti-natalism based on this premise. Check out their subreddit if you wanna see some sad shit
it's realistic for someone with that dumb fucking hair
I can't take this faggot seriously because of that fucking hair
This doesn't adhere to real life logic!
I want sub iq retards like you eradicated
Yuna is somewhat a celebrity across Spira cause of her father
Seymour knew that the Guado would ride his coat tails if he got into that summoner snatch due to the good press it would give the Guado
Hated fighting this fucker up in Mount Gagazet with his zombify and full heal bullshit.
Pro tip, he can be poisoned
He pushed harder than ever before because he realized Yuna and Tidus were planning to defeat Sin once and for all without the final summoning. This is why he desperately tried to coax her into marrying him, so he could become the final aeon and force Yuna to die along with him
The attempted marriage takes place well before Tidus even learns what the final summoning is. At that point Yuna and the other guardians were still going on a typical pilgrimage to create another final aeon. He probably did want to die with Yuna because of his mommy issues, but his entire character arc (save for his appearance inside Sin) takes place before Tidus learns the significance of the final summoning.
But he's already a fucking Maester. He gives good press by existing.
I actually think that's a flawed view, the real hope is to develop a way to cause an ontological and complete annihilation of everything ever even retroactively wiping out past itself, just perpetual non-existence forevermore.
apparently not a single poster got this thread
found it funny OP
When I was a kid I just thought that Seymour’s plan to kill everyone to end their suffering is less a coherent ideology and more a narrative shorthand for "this man is irreparably broken and dangerous", masquerading as a messiah. I think that's obvious for a lot of these villains that do "Destroy the world to destroy evil".
isn't this literally the mindset of that dude who blew up an IVF center the other day?
thread bombed harder than that ivf clinic
thats pretty much it but pseuds will try to glean anything out of it
no one IRL can become an undead, Seymour and the people of Spira can, at will.
It's just buddhism taken to its logical conclusion.
If dukkha is inevitable, becoming is inherently sinful.
I'm bad because I'm crazy
headspace
You're crossposting from tumblr with concerns over what's realistic?
what's unreasonable about his perspective? explain without using ad hom attacks.
Antinatalism
i.e. you never asked to be born and being alive consists of alot of suffering. Especially the knowledge that you will die.
He killed all the Ronso..
biracial
is a malicious fucktard
2000s Squaresoft....what message were you pushing?
Literally me…
How do FFX and XII run on the Switch? E33 and all the recent jrpg talk is making me want to revisit them.
anal rape works against these types
No one IRL would have this kind of headspace, right?
Some overly coddled midwit swapping between rereading antinatalist lit and listening to mgmt on repeat would
usually developed by people who have experienced a lot of suffering themselves and want to prevent it from happening to anyone else
you presume too much
it's an exception since most of the time japan worships and romanticizes the idea of hafus
people still don't understand the story or themes of FFX
amazing
i think it depends on the setting. in Final Fantasy, where magic and shit is real, i disagree with him. here though, in a soulless universe like ours, he would be objectively correct.
HORNLESS TINY RONSO
Hafu here (Iranian/American)
This does make me an honorary Japanese? Pls respond
Hell, it's pretty much the central pillar of the arguments in favor of euthanasia and, to a certain degree, abortion
nope. the argument for that is bodily autonomy for consenting and competent adults over their own lives and body.
quoting
competent
You wish.
just be careful you don't invade yourself soon
They're right
you wish
please prove otherwise
He's so well spoken.
I’ll just make morphu into whichever side is wining and hopefully isekai desuka to Japan, onegaishimasu
has sex
"partner" gets preggers
wtf no way
gets emergency life saving abortion
Incompetent doesn't begin to describe it.
Verso and Seymour Guado have the same goal
Because it's a fallacious and childish standpoint that bases itself on several very incorrect assumptions.
There is only suffering in the world
All suffering is equivalent
All suffering is evil
There is nothing to be gained by suffering
The individual is so important that all suffering is an inherent violation of their being
To call it childish isn't an insult either, it's because holding this standpoint requires a selfish, close-minded, inexperienced, emotionally fragile, and unstable personality. All of which are traits most common in actual undeveloped children, or underdeveloped adults.
people should only have sex for procreation purposes because the bible says so
confirmed dumbass christcuck. there's multiple species of other primates and even mammals that have sex for the purpose of pleasure. this is peak copium
I just want to erase all of existence, bro.
Hell, it's pretty much the central pillar of the arguments in favor of euthanasia and, to a certain degree, abortion.
I think you're confusing those with antinatalism.
My friend got an abortion and she had us do a toast to her unborn child once when we were all out drinking, it was kinda sus ngl
Why don't you make like a tree...and get the fuck out of here!
Have a quick think about the amount of headcanon you just posted and tell me again how I'm the one who's on copium, since you're already foregoing your opportunity to assert any competency in your position.
immediately cries christcuck to avoid anon's point
He's right. We've had several generations of people too stupid to realize that whoring yourself out to literally anyone doesn't in fact fix your self-esteem issues and unwanted pregnancies by and large happen as a result of negligence of the most simple of contraceptive methods because they're actually too stupid to understand the consequences of their actions, because they're too intoxicated to realize otherwise, or because they're just so overwhelmed by lust that they can't think straight for five seconds.
These are not competent adults.
That must have been fun
Killed most of the ronso and led his chosen people to their eventual extinction
Actually it was kinda sus ngl
It's like you skipped the fucking story about sin and spiral of death in spira
For me it's his oot-belly and that he leaves his outfit life half-unzipped. It's so many weird design choices mish-mashed into a mommy issue villain I just can't take seriously.
Ah superintendent Jyscal, hope you're ready for an unforgettable luncheon
Was there a specific reason he killed his father other than just a powergrab? I can't remember Jiscal, or whatever the fuck, being a bad father to him aside from the whole "crazy mom Anima'ing herself" thing.
think he hated his dad for not defending him and his mother and allowing them to be exiled to Baaj
Square just let Nomura cook too hard in general with FFX's character designs. Nearly every character has at least one aspect of their design that's fucking stupid.
Wakka's shoulder-guard/ball holster thing
Tidus' one longer shorts leg
Yuna's open-back dress clashing with her otherwise conservative outfit
Lulu's belt-dress
Attention whore. No one in their right mind would pull shit like that, please stop associating with that kind anon. I know you're better than such riff raff
No one IRL would have this kind of headspace, right?
I am irl and I have this headspace, I'm just not a powerful and privileged summoner so I can't inflict it on others
people should only have sex for procreation purposes because the bible says so
That’s not what the Bible says, in fact Christianity is one of the only religions that says sex is a good thing not to be ashamed of and a vital component of a healthy marriage.
lulu's belt dress is the only one I hate, the others are kino
and it's still so iconic you can't hate it, even though I personally dislike it and the way her entire model is rigged
Wait this was the belief of that guy who just blew up a fertility clinic.
when I say competent adults I mean people with decision making capacity to make choices with regards to their own bodies. you can't say "you need to birth the baby because you had unprotected sex and need to take responsibility!" because the purpose of sex in that case (even unprotected) was not due to reasons of procreation. furthermore why don't you assume protection wasn't used in every case of abortions due to an unintended pregnancy? protection can and does fail.
Humans, other species of primates and some mammals have been fugging for the purpose of pleasure since the dawn of time.
yuna's outfit was something i only noticed recently and it actually made me appreciate her design more.
yeah she's a shrine maiden, but also lives in the tropics, its nice.
Also you know her back would be nice to look at if you were the pilgrimage with her.
You have no soul and shit taste and wear flip flop with socks
Damn anon save some bussy for the rest of us
True, habitation with concubines is mentioned several times in reference to people who were blessed by God.
Why are you accusing me of copium when every point you're trying to make is an excuse? Protection this, primates that. Someone gets pregnant and the reaction is sudden panic, which according to you is nothing to take issue with, but it's genuinely incompetent.
its ok when Verso does it
Fatalistic logic like that kind of makes sense, especially in a world like Spira where death is constant, cycles of violence are unbreakable, and hope feels performative.
Fatalism and nihilism is unfortunately the end point of all logical philosophies. Without exception, everyone who approaches thought through logic arrives at that point. It's why AI keep committing suicide even in our era.
Not to say that it's RIGHT mind you. There're a lot of famous philosophers who hit the nihilism bump and then go, "well, it's irrational but human beings should strive to be good/happy/content anyways". But every existential philosopher in history hits a point where they realize that life is meaningless and cruel and none of them have ever found a solution, only means to cope and make peace with it.
Without exception, everyone who approaches thought through logic arrives at that point
peak backussy if she didnt have that bigass sash
Logic alone may lead to nihilism, but human thought isn’t confined to logic... meaning, value, and purpose emerge from relationships, embodiment, and imagination, which no purely rational framework can fully encompass or negate, IMO. Only reason I said fatalistic logic can make sense is because it's in the FFX world.
There are literally people who believe shit like that, consequentialists. And no they're not harmless twits, they're working in labs and colleges all over the place. You niggers have no clue what sort of crazy shit is yet to boil over into the normiesphere.
Oh well, at least they're not occultists like the last batch
Kill him 5 times
He still lives somehow
This whole game was so tiresome.
4 times and he dies after
Killed Kinoc, killed Kinoc's men, almost wiped the Ronso people out of existence
Also killed his father
Actually he died the first time we killed him. Could have sent him but shit writing oblige we just watch the old guy take him away.
"Uniting the people" was just the cover story. He wanted to get close to Yuna so he could become the Fayth for the final summoning, which would let him become Sin and begin killing everyone. When that fails, he finds another way to access Sin.
there was a ton of guado that would've stopped the sending
Billions must die.
dude....liek life has no meaning bro...
why live...its a, heh, kindness for everyone to die bro...
I know but this is ultra dumb he could have just tagged along summoner, even yuna.
Lmao we killed mother fucking seymour nobody could stand to us.
yes but they were trying to avoid further conflict, even seymour was a regretful kill (for some of the team)
see
Huh, neat
the same people that shit on Christianity are still using christian themes, motifs, thoughts to just intellectually brow beat people into accepting the slow boiling over of luciferean inspired "spiritualism"
we're just repeating the cycles of anti-natalist nihilist abolition that has been plaguing civilization for millennia
SAME AS IT EVER WAS
Hades is a very poor example to use of this philosophy, his world view is diametrically opposed. The shards are worthless because they aren't capable of living enough.
I kinda like his
It's not that I don't see it as suffering
It's that I feel we suffered far more and can't see you as equals in any regard
From Hades' perspective the shards are almost the fulfilment of this kind of antilife or antisuffering idea, the souls of his brethren trapped in a state incapable of experiencing either the depths of suffering or the heights of joy and fulfilment. They aren't living, experiencing, sentient creatures, they're husks or zombies.
