You can actually install a mod that lets you play as Halsin, and I did it for one of my runs. You don't have to play as Shadowheart to see Shadowheart x Halsin.

Most of the act 2 stuff is pretty obvious to do. The problem with Halsin is that he was a last minute addition and his initial appeal wears off pretty quickly, especially since they changed parts of act 1 that made him so popular.
Initially the whole reason people liked him was because he was the only person in the game that unreservedly had your back and was willing to help the second he found about about the problem.

There's more than that. If you enter the brothel with Shart and Halsin, if you remanced Shart, she confesses that she's always wanted Halsin's giant bear cock and proposes group-sex. If you say you aren't into the idea, you lose relationship points with Shart because she was really hoping to have her pussy stretched by Halsin. A complaint I have with BG3 and all Larian games at heart is that they really don't have any idea how to AI program some classes, so you end up typically with a slice of a few certain types of enemies you fight all the time. The only rogues in BG3 are you and your party.

The cultists of bhaal are like one small part of the game at that point, and even then, their rogue kit is only "we go invisible". 4 rogue classes and all they do is slit their wrists.
This problem extends far more to casters though. Most NPCs have just a handful of spells and then generic fireball. You have too much counterspell control as the player even on higher difficulties to really fear them. Clerics are more annoying simply because they have death ward and you can't wipe them in the same turn. Also, practically nobody uses the special arrows at all either.

Almost as soon as once he's available, all the plot quests that concern him are already over. He basically becomes irrelevant after Act II. And in Act III, he gets targeted by you-know-who, so overall he's basically unavailable all game.

I had Jaheira in my party for finding Minsc, and then together with Minsc for fighting their old friend.

However, Minthara was in my party from the moment I got her in Act II, because she was beautiful and her comments were funny. Female players might feel similarly about Halsin, but not me.

Faldorn is the only character that can get level 5 spells in BG1 so she's probably more used than characters like Eldoth or Skie. I was also going to say Garrick but I assume new players use him

shadowheart's characterization makes it 'clear' through subtle dialogue clues that she's a slut and disloyal, it doesn't matter who it is, she won't have a proper relationship. You can have sex with her but you can't have a family with her.

That's what they wrote her as, and the signs of it come from a myriad number of written dialogue, voiced lines, and animations, rather than her explicitly saying anything. It's not anything specific to halsin, she lusts after everyone and does so more openly than she does with the player.
