Anon even if we don't go by tabletop, Marines get ganked all the time. There's plenty of weak points in the armor and an angry mob is enough to hold a Marine down. Yeah they'll take casualties but Marines aren't nearly as untouchable as some think.

It gets stale pretty quickly, but some of the busted shit you can do is good when you can get it. It's also great for getting some of the ball ache penances for skills nobody ever uses.
It does makes me wish they did a full chaos wastes mode in that style. Maybe they could frame it as exploring the other hive city, since you can justify pretty much whatever the fuck map you like in one.

It's alright, grab it on medium discount imo if you enjoy xcom-ish games. The game's difficulty can be quite uneven and there's a lot of grinding iirc, it's been a while since i've played it and they might've patched it up.

You need to realize that just like every average joe they have never fought one before and they have only very limited or no information about their equipement and what they can do.

Most xenos are literally considered joke factions now. The only ones treated with even a small amount of respect are the Necrons and Tyranids. And even then, ANY media showing the Imperium losing to xenos is met with heavy criticism while the opposite will have those same Imperium fans drown out any criticism.

It got an anniversary edition last year. If you own the game it also gave you all the DLC for free, and since that included last stand characters it gave a bit of new life to it.
Also, mekboy rumbla builds turn out to be even better for inadvertent griefing than I remembered

The problem is the Eldar really fucking suck and the orkz are more of a gag than a threat now. Then the tau are just boring. Tyranids/necrons are the most interesting, but in the end, the thing that sells 40k the most are the marines and guardsmen.

Fun fact; the most recent Eldar codex retconned the past eight years of their lore except for the part where the most active and militant Craftworld was destroyed.
It replaced that lore with literally nothing.

Boltgun is already fairly cheap, so you could get it for dirt-cheap, and it's fun
The first Battlefleet Gothic is better in my >opinion, but both are pretty dang good.
Mechanicus is honestly a kinda mediocre tactics game, but it has personality in spades, which carries it. Turn up the difficulty and it's okay.
