After the announcement, what are your thoughts on Mario Kart World? Will you buy it...

I am really excited to drive the B-Dasher again.
I just wish I could swap out the wheels though.

I dont like the way driving to the next course works in grand prix. For one it defeats the purpose when you still have a loading screen between races, and two it just means laps are replaced with the driving to course segment. I hope vs has more options like custom lap count. A big problem i had with 8 was that everything except baby track had 3 laps even if some "laps" were just checkpoints. Everything was designed to be 2.5 to 3.25 minutes long so some courses like 64 rainbow road got neuteured by going from the longest rainbow road to the shortest

I'm getting the bundle. I'll try the world tours but I suspect I'll just go back to single course multiplayer as usual

The driving and handling looks unchanged from 8, it looks slow as fuck even with the new tricks, the open world doesn't really deliver with varied turns and challenges in their layouts like said, the netcode is probably still going to be "Nintendo Seal of Approval"-quality (i.e. shit), and it's still basically playing a glorified roulette item odds. Mario Kart World was obviously rushed to fit Switch 2 launch.

Sonic Crossworlds looks much cooler and seems to be worth the wait. Even that Ring Racers fangame looks more interesting.

I like the idea of making it a forza horizon like game, but I worry that the novelty will wear off without a consistent stream of new content. The fact that Mario kart 8 has such a huge fucking roster of tracks is another issue. Its the same dilemma monster hunter wilds has right now. Wilds is fun, but experienced hunters have already burned through everything while world still has way more variety/content. That said, world is probably the launch title I'll put most of my time into until metroid drops.

Got the Switch 2 with MK digital bundled in.
I'm gonna play Cataquack unless there's some really cool costume I like for the main characters.

I'm pretty happy with what the game looks like, no real complaints. 8 was great but it also felt like it was very by the numbers at that point. World being a fresh idea is cool.

The track design shown off is all linear wide hallways too so there isnt much room to front run as is.

For example, if the Pokemon company decided to make an animal crossing with Pokemons, what reason is there for AC to exist anymore? Why would anyone buy another Mario Kart game if there is a Super Smash Kart game? They should not follow Sonic All-Stars racing's example, its a bad practice to turn your games into franchise crossovers, it works for smash because Nintendo doesnt have their own fighting game brand.

I have both it and the console pre-ordered and I'm very excited for new Mario Kart, especially with the new rail/wall riding mechanics and the interconnected world. Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart Double Dash are not only some of my favorite games but they do the interconnected world thing as best they could for their time and this new Matio Kart feels like a realization of those concepts. Especially excited that Cataquack and Pianta made it in as playable racers too. I just feel like I'm eating good with Switch 2 as a Super Mario Sunshine fan.

Having a hard time choosing what character I'll play first from the newcomers, torn between Swoop, Fishbone, and the ostritch nigga. The direct confirmed the costumes all follow a theme, Pro Racer, Touring, etc. so the characters that get them (which seems to just be the base 24 characters) should all have the same amount.
