Yes, they also got rid of an armor slot, so there is less customization. They removed skills and weapons too, because fuck you, that's why. While they were at it, they got rid of a coherent story and extra vocations. They'll tell you that the dlc will fix it, but that's probably just bait to string people along for more lies.

It's pretty dumb that the game that invented height/weight actually being impactful on how the game plays, would then restrict short characters. I tried playing a midget in DDDA and it wasn't for me, the stamina regen was nice, but it didn't really tip the scales, especially when it came to being able to carry more stuff. Still some people enjoyed playing as a midget and they even had those goblin tunnels that you couldn't enter unless you were short. I just hate that they took away stuff that was good in the first game.

Yes that was actual localization, as in translating dialogue to work better. I'm talking about modern localization that rewrites things to be more in line with modern sensibilities. DD2 was full of that and had worse English writing than the first game, so clearly they didn't use that same black queen.

Pawns in general just felt so much more personal in DD1 compared to 2. Like yeah in the latter their idle chatter will bring up shit about things they've done, and I guess they're smarter as well, but it still feels prebaked and redundant somehow. Also doesn't help that there's significantly less gear in general so it's easy for every pawn to look and dress similar in the sequel. I know we'll likely never get another Dragon's Dogma installment, but if through some miracle or planet allignment that does happen I want to take after the first game more and make pawn chatter more a splice of 1 and 2.

it sucks because both games genuinely felt they could've been so good, DD2 just felt super rushed considering it still gets bugfixes this year for some reason to fix shit. a lot of ideas were great, unmoored was a sick idea but undercooked and the enemy variety is bad for a sequel
