Looking for Baal?

Looking for Baal?

Duriel.png - 512x368, 67.51K

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE NO DONT FREEZE ME I NEED TO HEAL

all the NPCs tell you to hurry up to catch Diablo/Baal

there is actually no time limit

how was this fucking fair

Baal?

I'm CIA

Just use thawing potions

No, looking for SoJ

Finally beat hell this year but teleporting through areas with immunes felt like cheating. Shit's way too hard yo.

i was playing as necromancer so i just left got some more skellies and came back

Or you could just play necro

I will play necro. I'll try to beat hell with every class.

Guides be like

just farm runes you haven't seen drop once in 20 years

literally impossible boss. You can't run and he doesn't let you heal. What was blizzard thinking?

Duriel made babby annon cry and ask dad to beat the boss for me and he fucking couldn't

act 1 and 2 are piss eazy

HE JUST FREEZES YOU AGAIN

I think everyone's rite of passage with this game is getting one shot by this guy
I quit for a couple months the shock was so great after breezing through up to that point

This one particular boss always feels like everyone's just taking the piss

Here's decrepify and clay golum, east shit.

open portal outside of his chamber

enter the chamber

do some damage

die

repeat

Annoying but works no matter how bad your build is.

taking the piss

cor blimey

So why do we need to kill demons again...?

Andariel.png - 512x368, 102.49K

i died before the room loaded in
this boss rules

in my experience, hammerdin summonmancer and javazon are the three easiest classes to beat hell with. i always found sorc too squishy and my reflexes are too shitty to properly tele without just eating shit every five minutes but sorc would probably be #4 if i didn't suck. currently working on nightmare baal with a trapadin and a shout barb but i took a break and never got back to it

I quit my last character because the rune I needed for an item had an abysmal droprate. Some people said it took 2 weeks of 14h farm a day. Fuck that shit

loot

Necro is so boring, west shit

this guy is the worst bondsman ever

yeah the classic strat of

enter chamber

pop TP

hammer him hard as possible while merc tanks

kite and spank as long as potions allow

port back to town, rez merc, restock potions

enter TP and immediately pop another

repeat until dead

works for every class with enough time

only reason hammerdin is so good is because it is unresistable

immunities is the dumbest thing in diablo 2. The game encourages you to specc into specific damage types while playing normal/nightmare only to brick you when you get to hell. I don't get why people still praise D2 so much. Sure it was good back then but it has been surpassed long ago by many modern entries into the genre

He never says that
He doesn't say anything
He just charges at you and you kill him and there is like fucking nothing you even find out about this thing until blizz retroactively dumped shitloads of lore on him as some great arch demon thing

aura kills all my minions

Thanks blizzard.

Were talking about D2 not D4 zoomoid.

act 1

they killed a lot of rogues. I could have had sex with them.

act 2

they hired cats to kill me, I could have had sex with them

act 3

demons?

act 4

I got lost on my way to the kitchen

act 5

They made anya sad

She's only a lesser evil.
I can fix her

Succubus steal your soul bros. Kill them and then do your business

If andariel is a succubus why doesn't she give you any pleasure?

sovl

it shows up in the chat, he says it retard

why would you lie about this?
what fucking purpose does this serve, aside from showing yourself to be a complete retard?

I just kept spamming it. Didn't stop until I found an empty corner. I only explored new areas after leveling up to not lose experience. Faster cast rate helps immensely. Here's my final build. Dual spirit, smoke, insight merc and some random shit in other slots.
This level of challenge and very rare drops just bring people back. Hell is basically an entirely new game.

Untitled.png - 1920x1080, 3.31M

Also I ruined two socket quests like a fucking moron. First time on a voulge(bought from Charsi, item level too low for 4 sockets) then on a crystal sword(item level too high, got 6 sockets).

The problem is you're viewing this as an outsider who likely never approached the game until long after it was wildly popular. The whole thing with immunities didn't happen until... patch 1.10? D2 vets were able to adapt. A new player hitting that wall their first time experiencing Hell is just going to get absolutely demolished and think the game is impossible solo because suddenly 25% of enemies are completely immune to your damage.

Mind you I think it's garbage design. I'm not defending it. Pre-1.10 was D2 at its best. I'm just saying it wasn't that big of a deal for people who were actively playing the game back then. I greatly preferred playing Sorceress when the standard build incorporated all three elements. I do not like 1.10 and beyond D2 focusing everything around pumping a single skill as high as possible. It was the precursor to PoE design.

I played it as a retarded kid in 2000-2005, never got past nightmare. Played it again as a slightly less retarded adult and got bricked in act 2 hell because 100% of my damage was lightning

35yo boomer

always played diablo but never much past 70, at best

decide to try srsly, check out drop rates after getting to hell

so, if you want X item you have to kill mephisto 2-4 thousand times

fuuuuuck this, all you do is teleport to boss, kill it in 2 seconds and do it all over again, 99% of your time is going to be spent searching for stairs, this is worse than korean mmorpgs

that is exactly what happened to me.

yeah the drop rates are literally insane. I read they tuned it because it was online and then people would trade. Path of exile is worse

Kek

fuuuuuck this, all you do is teleport to boss, kill it in 2 seconds and do it all over again

You say this but this has never been the most efficient way to farm in D2. Ever. That sort of farming is only good for botting because bots always know exactly where the stairs are and it's far easier to script a bot to farm bosses than clear out full maps.

Where do you think the poison is coming from.

Always seems like a cop out to not go tits out. Your game is going to get a teen for the blood anyway, its basically free to add nipples and throw sex into the gore to upset the mind a little.

yeah hell is no joke, the difficulty jump is ridiculous. the remastered version introduced rare grand charms that sunder enemy immunities so that every build has at least some viability

Ah but don't forget the part where they made durance level 2 retardedly huge so legit players have to search for the stairs down forever while the maphacking bots teleport there in 2 seconds

Blizzard is like 40% twitter women now. Most of them probably bitched and moaned. Same reason why the character with the biggest breasts is still only a C cup and it's because she's fat.

Me teleporting for 20 minutes around glacial trail (hell) looking for the waypoint only to realize there's a bug that makes it not generate sometimes.

No, I'm not Jewish.

thanks, it's been a while since I've been this angry

What was the deal with 'hits slow enemy' and decrepify stopping bosses from actually doing anything anyway? Baal and Diablo literally didn't finish their attacks if they were slowed enough.

the remaster alleviates this issue somewhat by introducing "terror zones" where all the monsters in one zone temporarily get upgraded to max level with access to full loot tables, so you can farm uniques across a whole zone instead of just doing the pit and ancient tunnels over and over again

Items you can get from Mephisto are the easy ones. Especially since an undergeared sorceress can do it real quick.
If only every enemy in D2 was as kind as the Lord of Hatred...

paladin.webm - 808x468, 3.82M

Because D2 is kind of broken and a lot of shit clearly wasn't thought out very well. The fact that slowing actually works on bosses and isn't mitigated at all makes them completely trivial when you stack multiple powerful sources of it because their attack goes from 20 frames to 300 frames.

Especially since an undergeared sorceress can do it real quick.

what the fuck does 'real quick' ential here? because I'm talking as a regular human being and not a turbo autist korean mmorpg player

I think that anon is referring to the fact that it's really fucking easy to keep Mephisto in one spot due to the "moat trick" and nearly every Sorc build can benefit greatly from enemies who don't move.

Project Diablo 2 is fun

but my issue is having to find the fucking stars and the amount of times I have to kill the fucker, who cares about the fight itself? the fucking mercenary can tank him

How many people here actually understand the REAL reason Duriel was feared 25 years ago?

It was the lag. Your shitty pentium 2 processor dell family computer lagged to shit trying to load his little arena and by the time you unfroze, you were either dead or if you were lucky, your merc took the hits for you

s-l1201.jpg - 900x1200, 75.57K

You just teleport through the edges of the map.
It's perfectly safe too with enough FCR (Faster Cast Rating)

Blizzard brainrot made koreans the way they are in the first place

D2's map generation is fairly simple. If you're autistic enough you can look into speedrun shit because they have a lot of information about the map algorithm and you can figure most things out pretty consistently. The only area that's a true gamble is the Arcane Sanctuary.

i've got a dell like that still
the heatsink to exhaust ducting cause they only wanted to purchase one fan is hilarious

I've literally never heard this shit, and I slayed that bug at least a dozen times when I was a kid

just checked a playthrough to see what the fuck is going on and yeah, you will only hear whatever the fuck he says if you already know he is going to say this exact line because you can hardly hear jackshit from the attack sounds as you instantly start attacking each other

d4

the fuck are you talking about anon

he was feared because everyone playing it was a stupid kid back then and he was the only boss that could actually deplete your health if you didn't go in with even a barely optimized build

Diablo2 is a piss easy game, but as a kid shit felt dangerous and challenging, and bosses like him or the butcher felt like some hardcore shit.
Wish there were diablo-like games that are actually challenging and aren't just braindead cookie clickers

They really should just let people set ladder games to 8 players already.
No reason not to, game's already pretty dead past normal.

What like...you'd have to click faster or something?

Well Act 1 they turned the sexy d1 Rogue evil, killed a bunch of sexy rogues and turned them evil too. Fuckers need to die for that.
Act 2 they're being dicks in general and trying to prevent you. Also D1 sorc went crazy.
Act3 is mostly killing drugged up black people with weapons. You tell me.
Act 4 is all demons.
Act 5 Barbs are your homies and theyre wrecking their shit. Also Succubi werent as hot as they were in D1.

slow is additive, back in 1.09 you could make players speed in the negative so they would walk backwards.
don't forget lagster the tormentor

These things really vary depending on character, build, level, items etc, but Duriel is genuinely a hard boss for many builds, including very popular ones like summoners or ranged glass canons.

Wish there were diablo-like games that are actually challenging and aren't just braindead cookie clickers

There are. The problem is most of them are bogged down by bad design or other genres.

I'm more of a Ba'al Buster myself.

Have you beaten hell.

Get something with Amplify Damage charges if you're a physical build. Vendors sell wands with charges on them and a few unique items auto-cast the spell on hit (Atma's Scarab, for example). That will break anything with physical immunity in the game.

If you're a spellcaster, do the same but with lower resists. Necros get the curse on their tree but ironically don't really have spells to use with it themselves, but they can use skeletons+amplify damage so it doesn't really matter.

Paladins are the best at not caring about immunities, Vengeance will virtually always at least hit one resist hole from enemies and Conviction will break most resists otherwise. Necromancers have Amplify Damage+Skeletons base.

Barbarians kind of can split damage between physical and magic with Berserk and its synergies so even if you fight something physical immune, you can still hit them with lesser magic damage. Sorceresses have Cold Mastery which gives piercing and lets you at least hurt most cold immune enemies. Assassin has a huge variety of damage types, so it works well for hitting something that's not immune as well.

It feels like Amazon gets screwed though, the way the tree is set up you really have to invest heavily into one damage type. Druid sort of has that problem too.

It isn't cheating. Teleport counters immunes.

MY BROTHERS WILL NOT HAVE DIED IN VAIN

This whole genre is trash for autists.

I just bought this a few weeks ago but god damn does it kill my crippled nearly 40 year old hands. Also the end game terror zones still haven't remediated the REMAKE GAME EVERY 20 SECONDS meta of running whatever it is your build does, they also didn't even ad a 1 click button to reroll the fucking game which would have been easy QOL. The trivial access to TC87 via terror zones also removed a lot of chase items, wish there was some more end game shit past ubers (which are fucking easy now) to actually push you into TC89 or TC91 tiers with extremely rare chase items. Wish they had an official grail ladder mode too. What a waste.

watch speedrun

monkey see monkey do

ignore everything but sorc ladder starter and either pump out torches with a smiter to farm JSP or race for 99 and lose do to premades doing chaosbaal gay shit

quit
