Is this game back to good again ?
Is this game back to good again ?
it will never be good again, sorry
Yes, if you have about $300 just for DLC.
its significantly worse than it was 3 weeks ago

dozens of reviews going "game is literally unplayable because of bugs now"
maybe in 3 months when they're done live-betatesting
Pop calculations run much better, so high density galaxies can be run at least a little closer to the good old days. Trade is an actual resource now instead of the deranged system they had before draining system resources for no reason.
I wouldn't say it's good, basically standard procedure after a new DLC, you get to play a rolling beta because it's cheaper to use your players to bugtest for free than pay a QA department.
I remember reading years ago about their qa testers speaking out for being treated like total shit and ignored all the time, glad nothing's changed since then
tf are you on about
Performance is several times worse than before this update, despite better performance being a selling point.
Honestly I doubt they'll even be able to make it run as good (relatively speaking lol) as pre-patch, let alone improve it.
They said they're fixing the issues so come back mid june
so high density galaxies can be run at least a little closer to the good old days.
no they can't. pop performance might be better (i dont know if it actually is or not) but performance overall is way worse than it was before 4.0
They might as well just tell modders who run bugfixing mods, at least those guys would listen.
Don't know what to tell you, works on my machine. My current game is deep in the 2400s and I'm barely experiencing any slowdown despite 16 empires with a dozen populated worlds each.
Yes....?
I haven't played the new shit yet, but my friend told me not to bother because apparently it's all buggy and fucked up.
paying to pirate for the rest of the game
just pirate all of it, faggot
So base game with no dlc just isn't worth it?
No, anon.
fuck no
It's funny how when you complain about Paradox's retarded DLC model the answer from normies is always ''butbutbut bro you'll get hundreds of hours from this game so it's worth the price'' and then you have games like Terraria and Stardew Valley with zero DLC that are also worth hundreds of hours and the devs don't charge anything for content updates
It's convenient to not have to bother with updates. I already had the base game from launch anyway.
You need the legit base game to use CreamAPI to pirate the DLC, which is what most people are using.
porn mod hasn't been updated in a year
I sleep
Are large galaxies a meme? Even Medium size felt too big, where it takes forever to move from one system to another and you barely interact with most factions
I'm a buyfag, I've bought all of the DLC on release, I've never bothered to justify myself and always encourage anyone interested in these games to pirate everything despite never doing so myself.
you'll get hundreds of hours from this game so it's worth the price
lmao, no it's not, and I'm a gigapaypig so you can take my word for it.
Yes, but that doesn't stop me from running 2500 star galaxies and modding hyperjumps to take ten times as long..
No
What is the best space strategy and why is it Endless Space 2?
It's certainly the best at not getting any more content.
It's only good if you pirate the dlc (don't even fucking pirate cosmic storms)
It's okay until people start getting behemoths, also no megastructures.
big revamp 4.0 patch that promised to SOLVE lagging late game
patch releases along new jewdox dlc
game in its worse state ever, it even lags early game
AI is more braindead than ever
It's shit. Still my most played game ever
Haven't played Stellaris since 2017
Told myself I'd give it another go but the problem is that I am now terminally anime-brained and will require mods (and motivation)
Best Space Strategy
Academy has decided to invade your territory
Will bitch loudly when you retake your territory from the Academy
Anon, it's okay, but that last DLC actively ruined the game.
meh. looks bad rn
As a stellaris noob, the game seems pretty good, what exactly is supposed to be wrong with it?
but then you can't play mp
It used to be much more unique, it's never really recovered from losing the multiple choice FTL methods (Warp, Hyperdrive, Wormhole) because Wiz, the game designer back then, was obsessed with WW2 in space.
It's a fine game
bit disingenuois to say that when it had 5% of the content it has today back then
It has more content, yes, but it all plays the same. There's no real difference between being a psionic species, or cyborgs, or a hive mind, or machines because Wiz altered the foundational game design to be more homogeneous for the multiplayer crowd.
Paradox needs to break the game and fix it in cycles to keep selling DLC
It is extremely samey. When you pull back the curtain of species aesthetics and events, everyone plays the same. You do the same responses to events, take the same unity trees and ascension perks maybe changing one or two here and there, designate the same worlds for resources to make the same ships and research the same technologies, etc. Every game.
Mods mitigate this to varying degrees depending on what content they add or change, but if you aren't leaning heavily into the roleplaying aspect you will quickly become the type of person who starts dozens of games and never finishes one due to the mid/lategame tedium of war.
it's never really recovered from losing the multiple choice FTL methods (Warp, Hyperdrive, Wormhole)
People always seem to forget that Womrhole was straight up better than the other two.
And that starting weapon options were all starter technologies you could research right away.
Better, but more vulnerable because you could lose the infrastructure.
durr but that doesn't matter when you build them everywhere
Yeah, you had to go out of your way to mitigate the risks while hyperdrive and warp empires never had to worry about it.
reinstall
look at how nice everything looks
get bored after 10-15 hours

christ no the gaps where DLC shit goes are so bare and obvious
there was no risk from warpfags because any sizeable fleet took a gorillion years to get anywhere, nor from hyperlanes easily choked off with starbases. Just be honest and say you miss starting with wormholes, and then pick the catapult origin to get the next best thing.
I miss being able to throw individual dissenters into the mines
Fuck off Wiz, you turned war into a fucking slog with your chokepoint fetish
It's ok anon I miss wormholes too, but I'm not going to pretend it was any sort of contest of which was best
You metafags are embarrassing holy fucking shit.
and yet still no defense of warp to be found
This is objective fact. There's so much fluff in this game its more like playing a pop up ad simulator. Hivemind devouring swarm and eradicating all life is the only way to play. Shame that still requires you to build fleets of machine spaceships since your whole gimmick is being a
Devouring
Swarm
they finally have organic ships now you build with food and have to grow into bigger ship classes, don't know if they're any good yet because the game is too fucked up right now to bother playing
troonime
Warp never had to worry about infrastructure being bumped off, and they were not slower than hyperdrives since they could skip over entire star systems. The only thing you could do to defend against them was build interdictors so they'd show up in predictable locations.
The point of having different FTL methods was how different they all played to each other and how that contributes to roleplay. I don't give a single solitary fuck about how the multiplayer was affected, esports shitters suck dick and pull shit like bombing an empire away by gifting planets to the xenophobe FE.
I do this with steam workshop games, it's a pain in the ass to rely on some russians uploading the mod on a forum or some shitty website
anime website
If you only play singleplayer then your infrastructure is never in danger because the game was always babby easy. Warp was absolutely slower the bigger your fleets got, and neither could ever hope to compare with the speed and ease of wormholes. There was simply never a reason to pick them unless you deliberately wanted to inconvenience yourself.
not just a troonimefag, an avatarfag
Thanks for outing yourself for us, we can't smell the rotting axe wound between your legs through the internet, so it's important to broadcast your medical condition.
Still need mods for horrors made in flesh megastructures don't I? All the money and time in the world and these people produce such basic bland bullshit.
flesh megastructures
Man, now that I think about it, it's disappointing that we didn't get these.
impotent ad hominem attacks aren't going to change history and make wormholes not hilariously superior to it's competition broseph
You don't look like this
you didn't play with warp travel
Played all three, any number of times, and never locked the game to a single type. Roleplay was fun, not it is not, simple as that. Go ahead and make another appeal for gameplay balance.
There's no roleplay incentive because all empires are generic and interchangeable at their core. There's no difference between your tundra radical spiritualist reptiles with wormholes vs ones with hyperlanes except one has a way easier time getting around
NO THEY WERE ALL THE SAME
THE BEST WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO MAKE THEM EVEN MORE THE SAME
Incredible logic
if it were up to me I would have made wormholes the default since the other two were shit, and roleplay is a poor excuse for picking them
pop up ad simulator
it's actually absurd how many times shit pops up
muh gameplay balance
If it were you, you would have just made the game worse in a different way. Everything you've said about this subject isn't even why the other two methods were done away with, Wiz stated pretty clearly why he wanted them to go if you read the dev diaries back then, he wanted galactic terrain and chokepoints, there was no other reason. He wanted war to become a slog as much as he wanted slaves to be the meta. Wiz was an utter faggot that did irreparable damage to the game, end of story.
automate science ships
things pop up
They did fix it a little at least.
War was a slog back then too if your opponent had wormholes, because they would just jump around where the fuck ever and your slow ass fleets couldn't catch them. Of all the shit wrong with warfare today like the idiotic war exhaustion system the blatant imbalance of ftl types even in singleplayer isn't one of them.
uhhh it was a slog then too
It was far, far less of a slog, you just had to gun it for planets instead of having to go through every last system, they took much less time and if you think otherwise, you picked this game up after 2.0 and are larping.
I've never finished a game
I get to the endgame crisis and after mostly resolving it I get extremely bored and quit my game
even if I'm days into the game already
There's not a lot to do after the crisis, I tried it once, you just sit around a lot as the millennia tick by since everything is "complete" and your empire runs itself.
I was indeed there, and I remember what a fool I felt like when I realized how superior wormholes were over warp and lanes. Wars are much simpler now where you can still rush planets down and actually being able to reliably pin down fleets instead of them going wherever they feel like with enemies going "nuh uh" from peace deals because you can't catch them, like globetrotting shitter stacks in eu4.
Again with the gay balance issue. Stellaris is a roleplaying game.
maybe you like roleplaying as a whack-a-mole aficionado but not everybody feels the same
As a stellaris noob
You'll understand when you play it more than once.
There were other ways to fix that without getting rid of FTL diversity and you know it
Probably, but I honestly can't think of a way you could reconcile them to all be on equal footing, both offensively and defensively. worm was simply too good and warp was simply too shit, and if you made warp better then lanes would be useless, and it would be another balancing act of balance that would get changed every other patch leaving players yet another thing to re-learn every update when they fuck with everything. The point is the issue has everything to do with function and nothing to do with roleplay, something they've honestly catered to quite a lot with the last two dlcs, when they actually work anyway.
I'm currently playing as the Zerg. You can basically get unlimited species traits.
them to all be on equal footing
They don't need to be on equal footing, there was always the option to lock the game to a single type of FTL. Removing the other two was always because of Wiz's autism, nothing else. Hell, if you really really wanted to balance wormhole, you could just reduce the range and require stations to be built in systems with starbases as an offhand example. They had all sorts of options available to them, Wiz wanted EU4 in space.
Honestly the game has gotten quite better since they made the Custodian Team to actually go back and fix the broken or useless mechanics instead of just having everyone work on pumping out content 24/7
I've never finished a game
That's part of the Stellaris experience.
Ah, yes, Paradox. The company that makes strategy games for normies.
Also, games like Stardew don't invalidate that you can get a lot of play out of a game where you buy dlcs
this game ruined other space strategy games for me and I can't even play it anymore because the performance is so bad after all the updates...
nta but I get stellaris base for free, they were giving it up at some point
