no outlaw star game :(

Movie shit?

if youre okay with just ship design and 2d combat reassembly is a good time killer. its a sandbox though theres no story or catgirls.

Yeah you know like Mass Effect or Alien Isolation? Massive waste of time and grafix faggotry?

Unironically the only two games that fit the bill are outer worlds and starfield, depending on how much dialogue you actually want. It's a dead genre.

Aisha actually drops the bullshit & comes onto Gene in that hot spring planet episode

I really liked that pink alien in the hotsprings. It probably all started there.

He's the one who marched up a mountain to oggle her rockin tits.

Aisha.webm - 960x720, 2.8M

This anime was so forgettable man, the only good thing was Aisha

it was fine, magic guns, chinesse space mafia, nice girls

Rogue Galaxy's plot went from amazingly fun space adventure following a young man who dreams of adventure meeting unlikely allies

to MC being chosen one god of space-time and goofy main girl being the princess of an ancient super civilization with destinies and other garbage

I have never been so let the fuck down by a game's story in my life. Still a 9/10 despite that, fantastic game.

You go on a long adventure in space back to your original home because an infinitely stronger alien government wrecked your pathetic Arrakis wannabe. It got destroyed because the inhabitants of the Arrakis wannabe have found the remnants of an ancient spacecraft from their ancestors and built their own fleet which was a violation of a four thousand year old treaty.

forgot to add picrel

Homeworld.jpg - 267x373, 81.36K

I liked the reason why ships had guns held by robot arms. Illegal to arm civilian ships, not illegal to have robot arms hold weapons. The navy and Ctarl-Ctral ships had turrets.

Made the setting different.

but anon - the ships were armed(with arms)
that remind me about some anecdote from colonial wars

colonial officers

''bring me the arms of the rebels''

local troops

''kay''

bring baskets of cut off arms

I think the setting is pretty cool. Gene's caster gun that fires all sorts of crazy ammunition is rad and there are some really good episodes.

But I do agree with you that Aisha is the stand out character. Gene is a pretty solid protagonist and Melfina as the cloned navigation system for the ship is a neat idea; but she's just not that interesting. Gene's half pint co pilot is okay; but he doesn't do that much except for the episode where they accidentally kill his girlfriend and her cats. Samurai girl is just kind of there.

If they made a sequel with Aisha as the main character I'd be down for it. Maybe play into the humor a little more since she's a goofball.

brw
the firefly copied plenty from outlaw star

This show was so gloriously stupid.

its not a weapon officer, just woodworking tool

People used to make things that were fun and cool without having to worry about a million jaded and pedantic miserable irony fried faggots had to say about it

Freelancer maybe? Kind of counts as an adventure game in space in my opinion.

Took that image of space shows/games for me to realize you typed Rogue Galaxy instead of Rebel Galaxy. Was wondering where the chosen one and main girl came from.

I've heard good things about star traders frontiers, seems very autistic tho

If they made a sequel with Aisha as the main character I'd be down for it. Maybe play into the humor a little more since she's a goofball.

I'd have loved an Aisha Star show, if it aired in the year 2000 and was written and directed by the same people who did Outlaw Star. 25 years later? No chance of it being good.

Now I want to go watch Galaxy Angel again.

No chance of it being good.

I wouldn't say there's no chance. You'd need talented people working on it and there's no telling if you'd get them. Its a fun idea and a fun setting; but its execution could be kino or it could be crap.

Rebel Galaxy

it is that game with obnoxious 'female' MC?

ksp

That's Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw, the bad sequel. It killed the franchise.

huh, may be
I remember pirating one coz hear that it was good but then uninstalling in after 20minutes

Who is she?

I forget what the plot is about, but I remember the white-haired girl being hot and you get to romance the green-haired girl who's actually your sister

Wait for Intergalactic

Also was Epig exclusive I think. Another day, another banger from Tim Sweeney.

Crime Crackers. 1 and 2.

It's a shame. Though what was most memorable to Rebel Galaxy was the soundtrack, very fitting blues music.

I had a dream one night where Starfield was in the Outlaw Star universe, where there are aliens running around, the aesthetics are cool and its all the environments, outfits and settlements etc styled on 80-90s anime, and the ship customization allowed you to make grapplers and there was magic guns.

God Starfield is so fucking lame, holy shit man, how the fuck did that game get made.

Is there any space game where you get to design your own ship and live a cosy life in it?

I couldnt figure out the weird combat system

SunDog: Frozen Legacy (aka the game that inspired Starfield).

sd.jpg - 1280x720, 72.34K

If it inspired Starfied how good could it be?

Star citizen

Those really are some rocking tits.

design your own ship

Ostronauts, Starfield.

There's not much in the design your own ship and live in it. Category. There's some colony sim spaceship games like Cosmonautica and Space Haven, there's a bunch of space engineering games like Space Engineers, there's a bunch of multiplayer crew management games like Void Crew.

But few games where YOU the player get to live inside the ship you design.

I really hoped mods would do this for Starfield, because the ship building and even getting a whole crew feels very interesting. But theres nothing to actually do in space, the ship is just a means to fast travel, I wanted to actually have to travel through space and discover stuff, but literally everything to encounter is via fast travel.

It was an absolutely brilliant and forward-looking game, packed with original ideas and entirely controlled by the mouse. Especially considering it launched in 1984 with only 64K of memory to work with.
It’s astonishing that Bethesda couldn’t build a worthy successor from such a solid foundation.

Star ocean after 2

Game where you really live a long adventure in space.

Oh right, this is Anon Babble, not Anon Babble.
Sunless Sea and Sunless Sky come to mind. Sunless Sea isn't really in space, but you might like it. You captain a boat through a giant cave where the law of reality is unraveling. People refuse to die, mountains attack, there's talking rats, monkeys, Indians, snakes-in-mirrors, Mongolia is at war with London, sunlight is an drug, and devils want to buy illegal memories. It really is more of a visual novel, or CYOAG, with pointless travel between ports. Still very enjoyable.
Sunless Sea is VERY open-ended and it felt like going on an actual adventure.
Sunless Sky is the sequel and it IS in space, but they also stuffed it full of niggers and faggots, after the lead writer got metoo'd

Star Ocean 4

Better OST

Don't be silly

Very different narrative structure, themes and style. I can't even understand why people keep comparing them, is not like something has starships then they go all in the same basket.

Its the difference between Star Trek Original Series, and Star Trek Next Generation. If that makes sense.

Outlaw Star is more of an adventure, its focused on fights and action, Bebop is serious and "mature" with what its trying to achieve, and is focused on writing and narratives. Not to say either is shit at either, but they have their focuses.

Cowboy Bebop has ships that are used to travel to get to places. There are a lot of memorable storylines that offer introspection and reflection

Outlaw Star has ships that have arms that are used to punch eachother and hold guns. Theres generic jobber enemies the heroes fight from time to time that are disposable henchmen

This is the kind of difference. Space Dandy is more similar to Outlaw Star than Bebop for example, and thats exactly what I want to see more of. I want fun sci fi, not sci fi that takes itself a bit too seriously to the point where it cant even have catgirls.

Sneaky way to avoid censorship.

Outlaw Star, easily.
Spike would probably beat Gene 1v1, (well, ignoring Gene's tech advantage, light shields are kind of broken) but in a crew vs crew fight its not even a match.

Very cute cat loli. Must hug and snuggle.

I remember it plenty. It was back when there were quite a few western inspired animes coming full circle back to the west. Big O, Cowboy Bebop, this show, at least 2 might as well have been westerns with the only difference being the medium used.

Yeah I was semi looking forward to that but didn't they make it so you can't even fight with these things or attack and destroy them? They're just an on demand space station.
Really wish elite took a sentence from eve's playbook and gave the players options to create custom factions and fight big space war against each other. Not that I'm under any illusion the servers would survive that.

Fleet Carriers are basically rented mobile bases you can jump around and bring with you into the black as a mobile spawn point and resupply base. You pay monthly for them. The biggest ships you can actively fly around are the Anaconda, Federal Corvette, Imperial Cutter, the T-9/T-10, and soon (probably) the Panther Clipper. Not sure exactly HOW huge the PC will be, though.

It's like Metal Gear. Most people on Anon Babble assume that "Online" is part of the series name and not a subtitle.

Graduating without honors...

In another decade, when AI is better, I'm going to make an outlaw star game just for myself, with combat and planetside map traversal like FFXII, and galaxy traversal like Battletech (the recent PC release) with a sprinkling of Freelancer. You can explore the ship during warp transits. I won't release it until it is 100% complete, to avoid copyright shutdowns. The main character will be Aisha's little sister. Await me.

The space combat would be like ... I don't know. There's really no approximation. Like Robotech: Battlecry?

I do not agree. But Aisha is better than any Cowbop Beepboo girl by a country mile.
Outlaw Stars plots never got as interesting as the latter. The world building was so casual and natural, and I felt way more blueballed when Outlaw Star was over.

I'm fine with Sci-fi that's a little more grounded. But even though CBBB takes place entirely within our solar system, I feel like it had way more diverse plots than Outlaw Star.

more blueballed

You serious? Every character in Cowboy Bebop had the life expectancy of a common house fly. There were more dangling plot threads by the end of CB you'd think it was a butcher shop for anime.

NTA but even though I favor OS I have to admit CBBB's ending was memorable because of how solid it is while OS's is kind of an over the top mess that teased a possible sequel that never happened.

Eh, Outlaw Star's ending is great, it's basically just the end of a space D&D campaign, like "you formed your party and found the space treasure, now on to the next adventure".

Every character in Cowboy Bebop had the life expectancy of a common house fly.

The only character who even died was Spike, so I don't know what you mean by that. And his plot got tied off in a neat bow.

Sure, I got that last sequence of wagie dressed Aisha leaning on a bike and Gene with shaved hair engrained in my brain but what happens before is pretty much Gene cheesing through enemies with the black hole caster shells, wins by deus ex machina and the ctarl ctarl doing a full invasion which felt kind of whack.

Kotor 1 and 2

Already played.

Are you actually asking for game recs, or do you just want brown cat girl pics?

3030 Deathwar

Holy shit. Someone else knows of 3030 Deathwar, haven't thought about that game in years.

I hate the name but it's a nice little space trucking rpg.

What do you think

He had both in this thread. I can say mission acomplished.

only character who died

herp derp

Only MAIN character who died. What, you going to hold it against the show that minor bit-role villains died by the end of their story arc? Even Outlaw Star did that. Except the annoying brothers who didn't seem important enough to keep surviving.

You still forgot someone...

OP here yeah both. This thread has been christmas. Thanks.

fpbp

Refresh my memory. If you mean the woman Spike died getting revenge for, I would not call her prime cast.

Man, Starfield is such wasted potential. Likle you said, the ship-building and putting together a crew of optional characters were pretty fun, but literally EVERYTHING ELSE was fucking awful.

Why 80's-90's anime draw boobs with nipples the same color as skin

Nipples should be PINK

Retard. Nipples are always a slightly darker colour than the skin. You're like those artists who draw demons chicks with literal black skin and give them pink nipples and it always looks awful.

Love catgirls

Dark skinned chicks

Musclegirls

This thread made me remember how I got into those things, all at once.

Aisha is amazing. Really cute and hot. But still, after all those decades, no girl ever topped my pirate queen with pure sex voice. Tenchi Muyo Universe one, of course.

can't even remember her name

Sub or dub?
As cute as Aisha's ENG voice is, the rest of the cast sound better in JP.

What about Tenchi Universe, the TV series version of the OAVs?

She was literally just the plot device for Spike's revenge story. Also I haven't watched it in like 20 years.

Sort of. It happened because the creators had differences and decided to do a complete different branch of the franchise animated. Turn out it's WAY better than the cluster fuck that is the OVAs and manga.
Tokyo is dogshit btw, even being yet another different show/branch.
I also love Washu btw.

212543.jpg - 800x450, 58.11K

Sci-fi is dead

Even the lowest form of this genre, which is science fantasy, is also fucking dead

lighthearted space adventure drops a feelsbomb out of nowhere

I hate it but I love it

And you just proved my point that

Outlaw Star > Cowboy Bebop

I love Ryoko and the Tenchi Muyo girls. It's unusual for me to hold this opinion, but the slice of life parts were way more enjoyable than the science fiction.

I don't see how. I could discard Outlaw Star characters in the same way. Hilda unceremoniously died in very similar fashion, kicking off the plot and throwing Gene in the thick of things.

I thought the introduction episodes were way better in the OVA. Ryoko being introduced as a believed sealed demon and trying to hunt Tenchi was cool.
The Universe TV series just has how show up fighting an alien robot that was actually just Mihoshi stuck in power armor.

There are problems with Universe though. Namely, Washu not having the horny for Tenchu, that terrible, soulless intro that is in every way inferior to the OVA's. (demon Ryoko being buried in a tomb was so fucking kino). Oh, and Ryoko undergoes actual development in the OVA. Which is why Petrea Burchard went full feminist retard and screwed up the OVA to begin with, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Isn't enough character development in general in Universe. Suffers from quantity over quality.

Tenchi Muyo

I remember some guy at university telling me about this spaceship that turned into an animal or something like that and I thought it was a really creative story. Years later I found out it was an anime he had watched and not something he made up for creative writing.

Not a problem for me but are you guys really craving a Tenchi Muyo discussion that badly?

Hilda is a proper plot device though, and she isn't supposed to be integral to narrative or overarching story or the main character's drive/motivation. Julia on the other hand...pic very related.

Actual discussion

Uhuh

I know that but suddenly TM fans hopping out of the bush is unexpected.

It'd definitely fit for space adventure.

It doesn't help that there are no good sci fi video games in the modern day. All we have is Starfield. Let's face it, the days of a heterogeneous video game industry are over. The variety of genres being released by publishers has dwindled. Stealth genre is dead, space/sci fi is dead, racing is dead, etc. Dark Souls has taken over and homogenized everything in some ungodly, horrific, inexplicable End of Evangelion-esque orange jizz instrumentality apocalypse. You WILL play the next orange soda game that's trying to be the next Dark Souls, and you will fucking ENJOY it.

Eh. The mystery and mystique surrounding Julia was interesting. I don't think they handled her wrong. She's just different than an "in-your-face" character like Hilda who is a main character.

Just replay old games

Nah. Nah son.

Oh hey, I know that band.

What's the last film you watched, bro? What's the last book you read?

Tenchi and Outlaw Star discussion just go hand-in-hand. Kind of like Outlaw Star and Cowgirl Boogaloo. Or Space Dandy and Cowbob Beepants.

They did the soundtrack to the game.

It's only disappointing if you wanted to whip your dick out to Julia. And I didn't have that impulse. Faye is more fap-worthy anyways.

I'm not a psychic bro, lose the acronym.

I think Dark Souls' effect on games is significant, but over-exaggerated. I believe that part of why Demons/Dark souls made such an impact is because games had been on a steady trend of 'cinematic' casualization for years, so when a game comes out whose main shtick is "this game is hard and will kick your casual ass" while being a good game on its own, people love it for presenting something different. The indie scene is still putting out those 'lost genre' games like sci fi shipgames, immersive sims, etc.

Unless you mean mainstream #A games in which case I agree, it seems like the trend of mainstream entertainment is that the costs of production only ever increase due to the infinite growth delusion of corporate business practices, which means they must appeal to broader and broader audiences to be worth funding and producing. It feels like we're riding on the edge of every big publisher game evolving into open world crafting action games of slightly different colors.

90s - early 00s will never come back

I think I'll play it again. Can't think of any other space games I haven't played to death already. The thing that bugged me about it was that ships couldn't strafle sideways. Old game, in the line of Star Control or Escape Velocity Nova, but after Starsector came out it feels wrong for ships not to be able to move sideways to dodge incoming fire.

I remember watching this anime three years ago and thinking it was fine, but I have completely forgotten most of it

Escape Velocity series. There were some truly great plugins (mods) for EV:O like The Frozen Heart. I think you can play EV:N on windows nowadays. It's an important precursor to games like Starsector.

I think you need a strong subculture of libertarians for space games to be genuinely good. See Heinlein.

Are young people getting into Outlaw Star and Tenchi Muyo in 2025 or is everyone else ITT an old fogey like me

I watched it for the first time just last year. No idea how I never caught it on Toonami. Anyway, I agree. It wasn't as good as I was expecting. The overarching story seemed be heavily front- and then back-loaded with a hasty finish. The setting is still great and Aisha would have easily been my waifu as a kid.

They're were pretty good but I liked the space adventure ones a lot too. I wish the show had even more episodes.
I agree they were good but after OVA2 the show becomes a mess really hard to follow. Too many new characters and giant happenings appearing too fast and overshadowing older characters. Ah, it also had no Kyone and they transformed Ryoh Ohio into a kid then humanoid girl. Weird as fuck. I also didn't like Ryoko zero at all.
Good thing: gave us big Washu and even bigger Washu kek. Pretty hot.

I'm an old late 30s fogey who only in the last 5 years started getting into anime, Bebop and Jinroh excluded.

Huh. I vaguely remember seeing this character on the TV at a Motel 6 once.

Define "young." I watched Outlaw Star for the first time last year. I was 24

Questions for Anon Babble: what kinds of things would you want in a space exploration game? Tell me anything and everything

Which is why Petrea Burchard went full feminist retard and screwed up the OVA to begin with,

.. the fuck? Good thing I only watched sub.
I don't mind that only two girls are horny for Tenchi. I also don't think it's in character that he banged everyone too.
I think that cat ship is one of the coolest things I've seen in fiction.

Tenchi was my introduction to Harem, so I was pretty wrapped up in the plot about a bunch of girls wanting the MC's dick more than anything. Besides, the fights in the OVA were a little too Deus Ex Machina for my liking. Like, literally.

BTW Tenchi is some kind of unbeatable god who defies all universal laws

Well, there goes any tension.

I think that all harem shows are dogshit except for Tenchi Muyo

OVA weird shit

And that's why I keep sticking with Universe. It really had a bigger potential for world building and plot progression. A pity that the production of this franchise got engulfed in such mess.

It's a tough setting these days. There are a lot that do one or a few things well, but nobody who does most things right. Robust but fair systems, evolving faction dynamics, reactive crew/NPCs, and and on.
What I really want is The Expanse in vidya form. Hard to hit the balance though. Ostranauts and Space Haven are trying but get bogged down in details losing sight of the big picture.

Infinite Space

Alien Isolation

Is this game actually good? A friend gifted it to me a few years back, and I tried playing it but got so utterly bored during the intro, I just couldn't bring myself back to it

I think it was during OVA 3 or something that Petrea Burchard dipped from the series, and the VA who replaced her just sucked ass (and really, no one can replace that voice). The reason given for her dipping was either

not enough money

or

didn't agree with Ryoko's character development (read: Ryoko actually going all doki doki for Tenchi and being less of an evil space pirate or whatever)

If I recall correctly, it was confirmed later that she flaked due to the latter reason. Shit was so fucking stupid. And if you ever happen to come across her tweets online (not sure if she's still on there, but she was several years ago) you'll find out right quick she's a huge feminist with TDS.

My judgment on harem as a genre depends entirely on my like of the girls involved. The Monster Musume girls are decent, despite the maddening trope of him keeping them at arms length indefinitely.

character development and intro of OVA

keep everything else from Universe

Wow, the anime sells itself at this point.

You're retarded and should play something that retards play.

I'd like something like Mass Effect 1 but grander. With actual space flight and combat. Ship customization and crew customization. With larger pool of human/alien love interests. Zero g sections as well. Looser narrative, where you have more freedom to act out how you'd want your character to be to resolve situations

Imagine Star Fox Assault x SW Battlefront 2(og) x Ratchet & Clank x KOTOR
Game where you have to spend a shitton of time doing mercenary jobs for different jobs, have the ability to join said factions and follow a large storyline but eventually when you save up a lot of currency you can build your own space stations, conquer planets and build armies in them, build mercenary clans and have the option to go online mode to wage wars agains other players galactic empires.

It all depends on who your target audience is

Well this sucks but whatever. The original voice sounds waaaay hotter. No need for amerishit tard drama.

sybau

I remember Ryoko being best girl and that Tenchi eventually made a choice. Or one of the guys in the Tenchi shows made a choice...and it ended up being all the girls all at once.

Imagine being Bethesda and still fucking up on this concept.

Very insightful and original. Clearly smart.

It really was one of the biggest vidyagame disappointments for me

Spore. Not only can you go on a space adventure, you can see the evolution of your ayy from a single cell organism, to a fully fleshed out zealot society that nukes other planets for not following the same religion.

Yeah. Push through the intro

Why?

All they had to do was ape Freelancer with Fallout style ground portions. Freelancer's even got limited aliens.

Fl_box.jpg - 320x454, 40.45K

I try not to think about it too much.

I hear there's epilogues or sequels or something where Tenchi has children with like all the girls. But I don't think we see him make a choice. Not in the OVA's at least.

Ryoko had far and away the most character development and was the first girl we meet, so she might as well have won. The show groomed her to be the winner, or so it sure seemed to me at least.

Raspy voice

That might by why I ship Aisha with Ryoko, and it's not even a romantic ship. I want to see the duo to be ratchet in public spaces.

It's not like I dislike the development, world building and intro. They're pretty good(Ryoko clone aka Zero is weird and lame to me) but I pretty much hated how immediately everything else got so confused. Really, Ryoko sometimes looked like a support character. I was shock confused when I noticed that out of nowhere they were in an universal crisis because in the far future one of the Jurai's King wives got mad and mutated into some sort of Universal ending crisis filled with madness and becoming some sort of goddess of doom with her own Tenchi, that came to the present to beat the shit out of Tenchi until Tenchi became literal supreme God above all and ended everything. Then later came a bunch of space politics from places/planets and races I knew little to nothing about and Tenchi got a mandatory wife with short hair and annoying karen vibes. And then a baby appeared too and somehow a spin off about Tenchi's cousin was happening and more. How the fuck could I follow that? Not even in the mangas there's enough explanation.
Also the quality of the art style kept dropping more and more.
I could understand everything in Universe and it had a good ending. A pity it was too short

Nah, it was natural rasp. You could hear it in her Rogue performance as well.

Ryoko was just the coolest.

Exotic alien (genetically engineered weapon from a mad scientist)

Hilariously, this means she's actually basically Stitch from Lilo and Stitch only you want to fuck her

Is such a chad she can ignore physics

Is a space pirate

Has her own ship and it can turn into a adorable combo of a bunny and a cat

Can generate energy blasts and summon monsters like a wizard because fuck you

Gets naked whenever and doesn't feel any shame because she knows she was built to be SEX

When I 1st played ME1 I was hooked instantly.
Starfield didn't hook me in at all. I hated the intro and was not invested in the starting plot (which funnily is similar to ME1 but worse. I hated the look of the city and npc characters. Stopped there because I determined it was a world I'd rather not be in. Waste of time. And the ship tutorial sucked.

I remember an entire episode where she basically gets replaced with a robot doppleganger who goes on pretending to be her for a while in order to kill Tenchi. Somewhere between that and the end, the duplicate can't do it, and eventually merges with the real Ryoko who becomes more empathetic as a result.

She certainly had more episodes specifically devoted to her.

Hey so this is the first time I'm hearing about Tenchi, what should I watch?

Same VA.

22-01.png - 720x540, 437.75K

Universe

Tenchi chooses Ryoko. Good decision

Tokyo

Dogshit all over. Tenchi chooses some human girl

OVA

They throw a wife for Tenchi from Jurai itself, something something political marriage. Later it seems he marries Ryoko, making her his second wife. Then there's drafts showing that he knocked up them and also Ayeka, Mihoshi< Washu and even the spaceship cat that got turned into a kid then into a woman and somehow had a lot of kids with her]

ME1, while I still like it, has a very odd start. Once you get your Shephard made and you get a brief description of the universe...you're off. First mission is get to the human colony and see if you can recover the Prothean beacon and maybe, maybe save some colonists. Then the game slows the fuck down while you go through the court proceedings to prove that Saren is in fact a filthy traitor and working for alien robot space squids from beyond the stars.
The games pacing at the start is kind of bad, cause to this day I still don't like the early citadel parts even if I know now that was intentional to ease players into the setting by having like 75% of the npc's being data dumpers of various information on the setting.

I would love to knock your teeth out, faggot subhuman

I would have loved a "The Expanse" or "Firefly" game, near future, limited to the solar system, no aliens, even keep the 'nasapunk' style, but have competing factions that actually actively oppose each other.

Hell. Buck Rogers (the rpg). Set in the solar system in the 25thcentury. US/Russia megacorp runs mars and is terraforming it fighting rebels from the Earth which is a ruined slum, Venus is an acidic jungle being terraformed. Mercury's got massive solar collectors and is home to insane rich people. There's gene modified humans Mars and Venus that each aren't happy with the terraforming being completed removing their temporary habitats. Lots of conflict.

Anything would have been better than 1000 randomgen worlds and zero conflicts because everything intertesting happened decades before.

I would pay good money for this.

I can see why you could feel that way. I found the intro pretty captivating myself. You start on the ship and get to know Jenkins. Then when landing he gets offed and you meet Ashley. And Shephard sees the visions. It worked to get me invested, and as for the Citidel I liked exploring it.
Starfield intro just felt kind of like a cheap imitation of ME1. And comparing the Citidel to the starting city is SF is embarrassing for SF in my opinion

Every single bit of ink deposited in her design in perfect. There's literally no flaws. Every trait of Ryoko is extremely gorgeous. I never cared about waifuism but Ryoko hits unique and different on me. She's perfect. Prettiest eyes I've seen in a character. Literally catches a man's heart and balls.

The OVA and Universe (the TV series version of the OVA) follow the same story, with differences.
General consensus is that Universe is better, but the OVA has a much better first few episodes.

OVA

Tenchi lives in the mountains and his family supposedly sealed a demon away in the mountains. The demon is real, escapes and tries to kill him. This is Ryoko, the hot immortal physics defying space pirate. Tenchi survives long enough for her to like and spare him

Universe

Ryoko is running from the space police and crashes next to Tenchi's house. The first episode is her dragging him around while the worlds sexiest gyaru cop in power armor tries to kill them.
The OVA is clearly a much better start, but the OVA also suffers issues later on by introducing power level bullshit, universe makes for a more entertaining series.

Tenchi in Tokyo is SHIT. SHIT! They all move to Tokyo and some annoying Poochie style new girl shows up and the whole show is about her now.

limited to the solar system, no aliens, even keep the 'nasapunk' style

Hey buddy, we're trying to appeal to a wider audience here

Well my dumb ass would stay far longer then I should have trying to find all the Keepers before leaving and would always forget about the one tucked away in the corner on the Presidium. As for Starfield, I didn't play it. FO4 but in space and with even less soul just didn't seem worth 70 greenbacks.

Don't mind me horny fellas. Just posting my boi Vash because his show is cool and curse however responsible for the new one with zoomer haircut removing best girl..curse very much for life

I think you'll find most waifufags don't see the appeal in waifus except their very own waifu.
But Ryoko is so best, maybe it's justified here.

watching anime remakes

ever

Tokyo

Literally has a FLAT RYOKO. A FUCKING CRIME

Trigun (original) is fucking stellar. Another setting that desperately needs its like in vidya. It makes me feel the need to make my own space western.

Not going to lie, I wanted to bang Tenchi's mom something fierce after watching those films

watching

I would never. Still hated to see the design and all I read about it.

Show really did him good.
Which?

Trigun has the kind of story where the pacifist hero actually has to accept the consequences of being a pacifist in a world where that isn't always possible, or even wise to do. Kind of wish more stories would emphasize the difficulty of keeping your morals in a broken world.

Lol

Outlaw Star's shitty animation quality

It did not deserve this disrespect. I remember it airing with Cowboy Bebop on Toonami in the UK and despite having a more interesting a fun setting Outlaw Star looked like shit. Suzuka's neck just grew and grew in every other scene.

still no City Hunter game along the vein of the Yakuza games

Outer Wilds I gu-

long

Nevermind, Star Wars Warband mod I guess?

uh...I think it was the second one

Why cant anime look like this again?

I would always stay up at night watching Outlaw Star and I love it then and still do now.

I love the fact that Ryoko got inspiration from Jeanne from I dream of Jeannie, which by that time was probably the hottest character/actress of the decade and that had such amazingly sweet and lovely personality that no man could resist.

Halo

studios not willing to put the sacrifice in and because cell is just "too hard, pls understand. it has to be all digital now. we can't do traditional animation with five tone shading anymore. It has to take 10 years between seasons now, like with Black Clover and CSM, even though we've gone all digital."

Jeanne from I dream of Jeannie

Holy fuck, that makes so much sense. My parents used to watch that show and I always thought "heh, in a way this reminds me of Tenchi, he's got a magic girlfriend too!"

Ryoko got me into drinking girls.
Ryoko also got me into drinking a lot.
Fuck, Ryoko is the bad bitch that ruined my life. I am grateful because I have a lot of fun getting drunk and watching old anime! Haha!

I need references for all the old anime shots. I recognize Deedlit but that's it.

Never made the connection, but wow, I see it now.

tfw no sassy overjoyed adventurous and free spirited magical/space gorgeous girl crashing in my life and loving me deeply while dragging me into many adventures and trouble, permanently killing and the boredom that kills me

Fuuuuuuuuuck...

I find it more funny how upset he was to include it. Just proves she's of good moral character through and through and also loves the character she portray enough to refuse to see her get trashed.

Fuck. Rewatching some classics starting from tonight. Odds I'll watch Tenchi (Universe), Even I'll watch Outlaw Star. It's been too long for either of them but I have both in an external HDD.

Glad my dad watched that show with me.

Having been doing this for a while with a zoomer friend I dragged into watching quality shit on drinking nights. It's great. Currently on Space Cobra, Gits SC and Slayers.

Tenchi it is. That's fine, as sexy as Aisha is (and she gave me so many fetishes goddamn) Tenchi is slightly more fun as a series and has best girls Ryoko and Mihoshi.

Also watch Blue Submarine #7, and you can't forget Gundam 8th MS team. Shoot, I'll even suggest Gundam Wing and it's OVA. That was the good shit back in the day.

I HATE UNRELATED SHOW!

how about you shut the fuck up?

outlaw these.jpg - 1440x1080, 224.97K

oh is that... porn on a blue board?

Downplayed nipples + casual nudity is my fetish

Royal armpits...
Seriously I rarely see Ayeka fans. I think she's adorable, hot and fun too.

I remember my first time playing this game. I bought Alpha Centauri on eBay and when the package arrived it was Star Control II in old-ass floppy form. He ended up sending me SMAC but let me keep that game, installed it and to this day some of the alien races in there are top of the pack in terms of flavor.

Orz.jpg - 551x349, 30.85K

I finally watched Outlaw Star after decades of hearing it hyped up just for it to be underdeveloped and mid as fuck. It's been just a few weeks since I finished it and I don't even remember the ending already.

As some other anon said, Outlaw Star is all about the world building.
Also sexy brown cat girls.

mid

This isn't what mid looks like, zoomer.

Outlaw Star.jpg - 3600x2717, 3.89M

I remember doing the same. It took about 4 downloads of misnamed garbage AMVs and blank files with that shitty Bill Clinton impression before I got a real one.

>Rogue Galaxy came out literally 20 years ago

I fucking hate time holy shit

I really liked Outlaw Stars and it's characters, art, music, design, worldbuilding and every episode and second of it and I watched a ton of space/old anime and I think people shitting on it here are just wanking each other like retards.
I enjoyed more than Bebop too somehow and I think Bebop is great. I had a lot of fun and that matters, and fun not because my dicj reacting to tits.

The world wasn't really that fleshed out either though. We didn't get any answers on who made caster guns, the magic faded into the background after the first like 5 episodes for the most part, Melfina's background was never explored, like it all just kind of felt fruitless by the time I was done.

If by fleshed out, you mean it had some nice art for the locations, yeah, I'll give it that. It was pretty to look at but it felt like it lost its direction after the first few episodes.

Also, Hilda was best girl and it's a shame they threw her out so early.

What I love about OS is the aesthetic

No mans sky is better than both lol and nms is kinda shit anyway

Outlaw Star and it would be fucking quick unless there were some miracles. Spike is the only team member that can really cause a lot of damage and while he could pretty easily dispatch Gene he'd probably get flattened instantly by Suzuka, to say nothing of Aisha. Jet and Faye are situationally useful, but only when they have access to their other ships, which are at a major tech disadvantage to the Outlaw Star, and really Aisha and Suzuka could probably still take them even when they're in vehicles.

The only thing that would offer even a possibility for Spike's crew to survive would be Ed somehow hacking the Outlaw Star to seal all of them in the ship and reduce the oxygen till they all passed out.

We didn't get any answers on who made caster guns

I don't think that was ever a mystery, outlaw star is a sequel

Its ok now. I do get a lot of stutters on pc after playing for a couple hours but its fine for what it is.

No. It's still a pretty shitty space game.

Bebop is serious and "mature"

You could call it filler, but a lot of the episodes have goofy levity that are probably more memorable than the bishi overarching plot with Vicious. Villains like the inflatable autistic human test subject at Disney Land and a poisonous lobster don't seem any more or less serious than a tiny old lady enchanting bullets with Tao magic.

Star Trek Original Series, and Star Trek Next Generation

I can agree with Star Trek comparing itself, because it's the same universe trying to develop characters encountering strange space shit. But the same problem arises where the writers do both serious and silly in equal measure, but TNG suffered from female writers writing in self-cest babies and rape ghosts after Gene died.

IMG_2746.jpg - 983x614, 413.06K

It changed -a lot- from its release state. It's still a fairly casual game but it's a good steam sale pick.

outlaw star is a sequel

wait what

The setting was cool but I hated the stupid robot arm spaceships and some episodes felt like badly written fillers

Aisha definitely made up for it, I love how stereotycially catgirly she is while still being her own character

Difference between fleshed out world building and world building in general. The fact you want more shows it has a good foundation.

Better ship battles yeah, but that's because there were no real ship battles in CB. Regarding OST you are just plain wrong. Also better villains is highly debatable, most of OS's villains were hilarious cartoon characters, which while it has its places I really wouldn't stack up to CB.

I fucking lived for Tenchi when it first came out in the US, when Tokyo was released I instantly stopped caring about it whatsoever. What the fuck were they thinking lol

Based. Honestly first waifu

I was too much of a scaredy cat to watch Paranoia Agent

Here to say that against the majority I FUCKING LOVE DUMB MIHOSHI from Universe and that she is CUTER being DUMBER.
Also, consider the following:

I liked the design of new Vash, not as good as the original but still okay looking. The rest of it was just awful though, I have no idea why they sought to retell the story in the worst way possible. Should have just retold Trigun Maximum with a few details changed around to make it more fun. What a shame.

We didn't get any answers on who made caster guns

youtube.com/watch?v=DoAabJImqB0&t=467s

the magic faded into the background after the first like 5 episodes

八卦散发

Melfina's background was never explored

discovering her background is literally the plot of the show.

go back to Demon Slayer, little zoom.

you will never go back to RPing Tenchi Muyo in AOL chatrooms.

This fucking mad lad

I wish Ryoh Ohki was real and that I owned one. Cutest fictional criter for me.

Thats your website isn't it?

Oh shit, it's Kirk Thornton

He is mistaken. He is probably thinking of Angel Links, which was a spin-off from Outlaw Star and was simply set in the same universe. Outlaw Star is not a sequel to anything else.

No but I wish it was.
I'm a regular there however. I love finding those shrines and visiting them. Currently thinking about creating my own.

Nostalgic webpage design.

we don't know much about it yet but Intergalactic could be a big space/sci fi game for the genre

Calling it the same universe is charitable, it was shoehorned in by the suits because of how popular Outlaw Star was.
Not to mention the horrible redesigns for Duuz and Valeria.

I still hear her line read "You will pay!" crystal clear. Great VA.

Is this spin off good to watch?

No

Very unrelated post but I second your request

That's mother fuckin' Armitage III. That webm is from Poly Matrix, there was a second ova later called Dual Matrix. They're okay as far as writing but they nail aesthetic and mood.

It absolutely fuckin sucks, spare yourself anon

They are definitely more serious, Mad Pierrot is played straight despite his whimsical appearance and the lobster is a one-off that is an exception for the show while it's the rule for Outlaw Star. OS is definitely a comedy show with moments of seriousness. Cowboy Bebop is a serious show with moments of comedy. They're in the same genre but on opposite ends of each other.

Bonus points. They literally made artificial women that can be impregnated in that series.

classic anime girls hit different

your waifufagging will never be this strong

Everspace 2

Flight sim

Bunch of ships to buy

Full customizable, both with weapons, parts, and paintjob

Able to hop between planets and get random pings for side-events while travelling

Story is straightforward space-drama filled with clone pilots, heists, and backstabs, but also doesn't talk your ear off with 10-minute cutscenes

Worth it if you have that itch

There is no sim in anything in this game. It's pure arcade.

Too bad it's a looter shooter

Mad Pierrot

Wonder how Mad Pierrot would fare in the Outlaw Star universe as a guild assassin.

there's 1000s of mods now that add shit like NPC factions, quests and missions, dynamic encounters and such.
shit was barebones 10 years ago but its great now.

Technically there's nothing to do in Minecraft other than PVP too, but ppl happily spend 100s of hours building shit in it cuz its fun.

It's a goddamn shame they never released the Space Force theme when they appear to blow the fuck out of the Space Pirates at the end of Law and Lawlessness.

Also I felt this song was best used when the Pirates sprang their Trojan Horse trap in that episode over the Ron McDougle fight.
youtube.com/watch?v=xX-aHbMvBqY

Whatever, you fly around and blow shit up in a ship

Kou Otani is a master composer. I'm am in awe of how he mixes so many different styles and genres into soundtracks, sometimes into individual songs, and they all fit together perfectly. Between OS, Gundam Wing, and Zoids Zero, his music is the sound of anime to me. Even though OS's soundtrack has so many high energetic bangers, I have a soft spot for this one:

youtube.com/watch?v=3VxwMORrUDs

Not sure if this fits what OP wants, but:

Rebel Galaxy (Not Rebel Galaxy Outlaw)

Cool 2d space combat like AC Blackflag, excellent swamprock soundtrack, sort of Freelancer-ish. Incredibly satisfying warp drive ignition and burn.

Everspace 1

Sure it's a rogue lite, but there's a heavy emphasis on the story and it completely accommodates the repeating runs. Hated it at first because I got rekt immediately, but i learned how to get better and I loved it

Everspace 2

The more ambitious sequel, almost direct sequel narratively too. This time it's a looter shooter so the progression is more of a slow burn but the scope is expanded massively. While it's still loading screens, the transitions from planets, instances and open space a lot more organic than Starfield. Devs also recently reduced the price of their latest expansion.

damn anon, beat me to it.

Law and Lawlessness also has my favorite Aisha, seen only for a second or two.

I feel the music in Outlaw Star was something special.

Don't worry lads I'm saving most recs in the thread as long as they have adventure in them and if not as long as the game is fun when I try it still good.

What about Martian Successor Nadesico? It had some shit episodes here and there and the less said about the weird edgy movie sequel the better, but it was fun and the OP was 15/10

shit was barebones 10 years ago but its great now.

bitch most of those mods are jank as fuck or extremely basic, 90% of gameplay still is largely PVP
bro you can do far more in Minecraft than you can in spengies

He'd definitely be up there, but only because of how fuckin crazy and determined he is. In terms of tech his shield isn't very advanced in OS, and that's what enabled him to be such a prolific murderer. He'd probably get Caster'd or Suzuka would cut him in half or some shit.

I'm a sucker for Star Trek inspired anime.
The 2000s had Vandread, which was similar only the plot involved a rift between men and women resulting on them living on different planets, so the main cast of the show are three random guys stuck on a ship captured by an army of female space pirates. I remember the villains were basically The Reapers from Mass Effect, only they were what's left of humanity on Earth and they took to harvesting old colonies to remain immortal or something.

Marrying Ryoko so I can call Washu mom

ryoko.gif - 157x190, 107.13K

Minecraft once Starlance supports survival mode.

I never watched this.

The dub voices are weird for Tenchi.
Tenchi sounds like a neckbeard nerd
Ryoko sounds hot
Ayeka sounds like some bizarre attempt at a high class english woman but also chinese I guess?
Mihoshi just sounds normal. But Mihoshi is meant to be dumb and girly so it's unfitting.

But Mihoshi is meant to be dumb and girly so it's unfitting.

Originally Mihoshi was competent, but overworked, causing her record to stink and she surprised on some nepotism being the grand marshals grandkid.
She only gets flanderdized as a complete retard in the TV series onward to create a contrast with Kiyone

And Washu sounds like your cool aunt that invites you to "go take a walk" with her at family holidays so she can share a blunt with you.

The novels had it that she was really competent but some space pirate either gave her a virus or beat her retarded. Kind of fucked up for a lighthearted series.

With Tao magic and tech like light shields, most of his OP abilities in the cowboy beebop universe are trivial, but given he doesn't need any charge up time (chanting shells) or exhaustion (A light shield shorts out after tanking a missile) he'd still be up there.

Novel shit

Reminds me of Kiki from 08th MS team being raped by Federation soliders and she committed suicide by biting her tongue during it.

16th month? Damn the future is weird

It's the american date system. It makes no sense, but that's what they do.

I actually played the first two recently, but it didn't come to mind. It might be because space-travel is just a tiny cutscene.

I don't know how they did it but ALL the girls were hot as fuck in Tenchi. Like in Love Hina I didn't think most of them needed dicking as much as in Tenchi. I heard there's an ending where Tenchi gets all of them, that one's gotta be the best one.

The last thing you see before your semen is forcibly extracted from your testicles (the pleasure is unbearable)

tell me more

All this talk about Tenchi in a thread about space adventures, and not a single mention of GXP?

Holy fuck dude, I thought you were making shit up. I liked that character too lol, what a way to have her killed

how is it different?
Separately, it's a shame that the cuckman is making a space hijinks game. A lot of suits will conclude this isn't what the market wants when we just don't want soulless jew multikulti garbage.

I would fuck Aisha in every way known to man and several known only to the gods.

youtube.com/watch?v=je03N9pApxg

Outlaw Star was so fucking good, bros. I thought it was nostalgia, but I rewatched it for the first time a few years ago and it was even better than I remembered. I have the blurays now.

Why did web design have to become so shitty over the years? Why can't we just return to this? It's perfect.
