I've been replaying the handheld Zeldas (just started Minish Cap) and I'm already getting slightly sad because after Minish Cap I only have the DS games left and I kind of don't want to touch (pun not intended) those.

In retrospect, they're really not bad. I enjoyed them more than Wind Waker.
Phantom Hourglass has what is in my mind the only actual decent puzzle in the entire franchise. I'm still baffled that the sesame street puzzles featured in the franchise are considered a staple, or a mechanic worth mentioning. I guess it helps deflect from the combat and writing being so bad.

to me, ST is the worst of the two. The train is very limiting as you can't just do as you please like you could in PH, the flute sections are terrible, and controlling two characters with the touch screen is more annoying that it should be. PH was pretty fun to me sans the central temple you have to keep going back to, something PT did fix a bit by not making you redo every part of it over and over again.

It's a position given to what's essentially the kings Private Militia , in different iterations having different purposes. Impa is the leader of that militia. Like In Ocarina of time, Impa was responsible for Zelda's escape and taught how to fight and she took the identity Sheik.

What he was trying to imply is that it's not the same person, rather a person that's born, given the name/title, and designated to serve the role. Problem with his logic is that also applies to Link and Zelda. None of them (with some exception) are the same person, but they all have the same name, and play the same role. Impa is literally just a new person in every game, Impa is a title that is given and passed on. She does not reincarnate, it is simply coincidence or intentional that Impa ends up being a relavent force within the narrative consistently.

Also I can't find any reference to Impa ever being in charge of some secret Hylian militia. Yeah, she's a Sheikah warrior in OoT, but she's still just Zelda's right hand. The difference being that she's not old or explicitly a maid, which she is in most of her iterations.
Hell, in BotW she's just the Sheikah elder and I don't even think she has a single interaction or implied interaction with Zelda. Explain that shit.

When Demise was sealed, his hatred was so thick that he literally re-births himself as Ganondorf and when Ganon is born in any era (and he always does, as is his curse), The Spirit of the Hero and the Goddess Hylia will be there to stop him, as is their curse. As long as their is hatred, the cycle will continue. Impa was never part of that. She might be related to clan members in different games, maybe even a lineage of Impas passed on through bloodline, but it's always been the Impas job to be adviser to the crown and protect the royal family

Hylia isn't cursed. She intentionally committed sudoku so that she could reincarnate as a "mortal" to circumvent the failsafe on the Dragon Bal- I mean Triforce, which was created by the Golden Goddesses who then left Hyrule (the planet, or dimension, or whatever, they left) and left Hylia in charge, but then they return in pretty much every game anyway (to no actual degree of helpfulness, ironically) so why they're described as leaving or why they even exist or why they created the Triforce is fucking baffling.
Seems like the series is a clusterfuck of lore for lore's sake, to compensate for the inability to write a genuinely compelling story. Mystery Box: The Franchise, except the mystery is... there's no mystery.

Ricky makes the land more of a pain to traverse then it needs to be. With Dimitri and Moosh, you can avoid using them for the most part once you can swim or get the pegasus seeds and roc feather/cape, meaning returning to those locations isn't as annoying in the future.
