I think BG3 is still better but i just reached Act 2 in E33.
I think i prefer BG3 gameplay and level design overall, the gameplay is much more interactive and the combat is more fun and tactical.
I also like the level design more with its many ways to solve, i think Larian engine is way way stronger than whatever E33 was designed on, in BG3 there is actual physics and elements that compliment the gameplay and exploration in ways its engine works, the game designers thought of so much when they made it.
E33 feels basic on these fronts, although im enjoying its combat as well but i think its easily solved with the same elements, parry and stack damage is all you need in every fight so far, i haven't seen any clever use of any gimmick.

Those are the big 2 reasons but also the itemization and the whole rpg mechanics are in favor of BG3 too, from variety of builds and skills to itemization build up its much more indepth imo.

I think E33 does have better story hook, it pulled me quicker and the story feels like it has higher stakes and takes itself too seriously, but at the expense of that it has less freedom.

I also find the visuals and music in E33 to be superior, although BG3 visuals are amazing for its genre too.

Voice acting and animations are in BG3 favor as well, E33 faces have weird animations and dont match of whats happening at all, sometimes Lune is smiling awkwardly or when they talk while they are scared or confused it doesnt match well, and i dont think anyone can rivals Neil (Astarion) performance from E33

So yeah, i played BG3 a lot of times and never lost its steam i can go back and replay it to 100% now without any struggle, its just a super fun and replayable game, while E33 im not sure yet, but i can see myself doing another run later, probably. although i dont think there is any benefit of doing so as you will get the same things again.
While the writing of E33 is more tight, the writing of BG3 is more dynamic, flexible and reactive
