It's up! He don't miss!

are we really making webcomic straw men for game engines now

NOOOO BROWN FICTIONAL WOMAN DON'T PUT ME IN MY PLACE NO NOOOOOO I CAN ALREADY FEEL MYSELF BECOMING A BETTER MAN AAAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE

I prefer the "my platform is better than yours" nerdfight format of webcomics over the modern "soapboxing my shitty opinion on social politics" format of today.

people who say anything along the lines of "if you dont like it, why dont you do it" should be castrated

If you don't like shit stop eating shit.

why don't you castrate them then?

Why can't an engine handle multiple alphas?

The catch is that when you become a gamedev that works with a team of other gamedevs, you then have to grapple with the truth that some of your fellow devs are also complete morons, and losers outside of being a gamedev.

What's a "multiple alphas"?

isn't this guy just an concept artist?

nooo what do you mean my shitty unoptimized code has poor performance

ahem

you're somehow dumber than the french faggot in the OP. you clearly have no idea what you're whining about.

I believe the retard is talking about using alpha channels for transparency or occlusion. If this post is right I would believe that a retarded artist doesn't understand why you can't use a large number of alpha channels in a game that is rendering and drawing in real time with a shit load of other things going on in the background. His attitude is probably "These game engines are so bad because when I use art software its fine I use this many alpha channels!" ignoring the reality of what it's like to render graphics while a game is running in real time versus an art program that is using all the resources available to it to render a single image, model or scene.

lisa needs therapy

not a single black woman has ever made a game

at best maybe a visual novel in renpy that's basically her AO3 fanfiction

that's retarded. everyone is gonna think of version naming conventions when hearing the word "alpha" in a gamedev context. I know for a fact that when you point this out he's gonna go "hoho YOU'RE the retard because I meant alpha channels not alpha version. Stupid fucking chud doesn't even know anything about making videogames". Like you know you're completely in the right to think that but there's no way to drill that fact into his skull for him to understand

Explain to me in machine language why needing multiple alphas is any different than needing cord with male plugs in both ends.

HEY HEY HEY
STAY OUTTA MY ALPHAS

you ever think that maybe you are a stupid fucking chud who doesn't know anything about making videogames? do you work in development? where does this haughty attitude come from?

Well, he is just a concept artist and not a dev. He might not have realized it.

Given how many are just 9-5 office drones who are there for a paycheck now, I seriously doubt they actually care about whatever project that's put in front of them. That a majority of those are women and diversity hires, I'd suspect they give even less of a shit.

Gamedev being one word and not written as "game dev" like it should be pisses me off to inexplicable degrees. Followed up with there never being an 'a' used is a double whammy

I'm gamedev

Looks and reads so faggy compared to

I'm a game dev

I wonder what's his opinion on the Vader ai stuff. I'm sure it's retarded.

do you also get mad when the internet is spelled with a lowercase "i"?

I mean there is a sizable chunk of game studio employees nowadays who don't even play games. It's just a job like another, people work for a paycheck, only a minority have a passion job.

I thought it was swing at using unoptimized early builds.

I think this is true for the most part, there are exceptions but they're in the extremely small minority.

But it's unfair to the people that put in the effort to make better games to raise all games to the same level out of respect.

retard

I laughed

Erm excuses me? Are you a rapist? Because if not then you are not an authority on the matter.

I only respect them if they make games I enjoy.

panties panties cant be seen

no stockings on stockings

what an absolutely dogshit piece of crapart

He's also french canadian, so his english is spotty in places

I've never bothered asking in any of these threads: what are his video games?

So he's not just a filthy frog, he's a filthy Canadian frog. Disgusting.

He hasn't worked on a game for years now, I'm pretty sure

Wasn't the DnD game the one that had those hilariously dumb trailers with the camera pointed right at the characters face while they were running? That game looked pretty bad.

To be fair, the team probably didn't had any input for the marketing dept's job

Might have been, yeah
The guy is just the concept artist, but as far as I can tell, he hasn't worked at a studio for a while now, and this webcomic seems to be his full-ish time gig now
Here's his artstation, he's okay, but feels pretty replaceable in terms of style

social politics

What does that have to do with social politics you mong

Thanks for shilling my web comics for free Anon Babbletards lmao.

Judging by the guy's socials, he'd flip and panic if he saw

It doesn't look particularly good but

Black sororitas w. the lesbian sidecut

555-COME-ON-NOW. He's really not great with faces or facial features in general.

Old Forward rendering engine: Each model goes through shaders with multiple phases to compute lights or transparency. It get very slow the more lights you have without a bit of work. (also called Forward rendering plus)
New Backward rendering engine: Each model go through a single shader and get printed in an image. Then it get printed on 10 more image for depth,, reflection, angles, etc.
After than they use a ubershader to strap all those images together and compute lights.
Now how do you have transparency when all you have is a 2D image instead of 3D models? You can't but you can do dithering like old games did to abuse CRTs blurriness.
How do you fix dithering? Vaseline
How do you fix Vaseline? DLSS

I have a real job that actually pays decently

You wouldnt have issues with transparency/"alphas" if you used forward rendering

I understood none of that, but then again I don't develop games

yeah you'd have issues with lighting instead

is that what the indian man in the ue5 tutorial video told you?

the very big simplification is: new engines work in 2D like Windows Paint so they do transparency with the spray can tool

lol you have no idea what you're talking about

Multiple alphas would be two gas clouds in a line

If you don't like shitty opinions, why don't you write better ones?

It doesn't, which is why I said that.

Why do you keep using a word when no one knows what it means?

Nah, you're just a dumbass who's more clueless than the artist in OP. A happy little consoomer who thinks excel is just a verb.

People who know somethin about anything know. You're just an ignoramus.
