2 was a huge upgrade but the humor was a bit different and some people disliked the tonal shift

3 had much better gameplay compared to 2, it felt like a great shooter, but it went all in on the shit writing and it was always in your face. Like 90% of the time people were making "jokes" even during gameplay.

The first game was the best up until they started releasing dlc's and introduced the wacky humor that only deteriorated as the series went on. The first game is mostly silent which helps because it's the kind of game you play multiple times. It still baffles me to this day how they made the rest of the games constantly noisy with dialogue which in and of itself wouldn't be a problem but sometimes you have to wait for it to finish just to play the game so muting it can only help so much. 2 is a huge downgrade for me in almost every metric but especially the humor. I hate handsome jack.
