Valve's debut title, Half-Life, was released in 1998. Since then, we've released dozens of titles that changed the world (and one that didn't).

Half life 1 2 episodes
Dota
Portal
Counterstrike
L4d they're all in your picture
And no don't tell me Dota and cs were mods. Mods are not games, they released games standalone ones not mods.
Half life 1 is still played today, how many other games form 1998 do you know that are still active? Quake and that's pretty much it
Valve is like that nepobaby in school who knew he didn't have to work ever and kept bragging about shit he's never done
hl alyx came out half a decade ago
People complain about Rockstar now making any game since they keep on milking GTA:O
Valve is doing exactly the same with their lootboxes. Literally gambling, but no one cares because muh valve muh gaben
They still make games
one unreleased game in the past 5 years
Wow, one new game (Alyx), great.
6 F2P """games""", 1 paid
2 made by icefrog: Dota2 & deadlock (seem liks it's dead on release)
"game" made from a mod on dota: underlords
rehashed but worse: cs2
tech demo: aperture/the lab
that leaves artifact (P2P game, wow again, valve are saints, right?)
artifact wasn't free to play until after it's playercount hit two digits
Yeah it kinda sucks that faceberg cocked up the VR software development scene, and Valve fucked up by not putting out linux development tools.
"lootboxes" in every valve-related thread has to be a keyword used by bots.
Had to pretend desk job just straight up doesn't exist
Didn't even bother trying to suggest it doesn't count
P2P => Pay to play, that's what I meant. And yeah, forgot to say you had to buy the cards too... So more like 2xP2P
But it's true. There is a huge gambling aspect on CS, it's been going on since I don't know how many years.
You can't deny it. Are you sure you're not the bot that gets triggered by this "keyword"?
Sure let me stick my dick there:
HL: Alyx
FOTM
DOTA
Autism haven
Artifcat
DED
The Lab
Never heard of it
DOTA 2
Autism haven
CSGO
Avoided it like plague
Portal 2

Alien Swarm
FOTM
L4D2
Ruined due VS autism
L4D
Far better than L4D2, it didn't last long
HL2 Ep2
More errands pt2
Portal 1
Interesting but it got repetitive quite fast
TF2
Failed to interest me
HL2 Ep1
More errands pt1
DoD Source
I suppose it's dead due small as fuck maps and due fucking CoD being more shit than it
HL2
Linear errand simulator with a forced gimmick
CS Source
Dodged a bullet
Pre Source
Moms missed their scissoring day
Deadlock
Unreleased
Desk job
26 minute long tutorial for the steam deck
Underlords
DOA and abandoned
Artifact
DOA and abandoned
CS2
Essentially a graphical update for CSGO that removed tons of content
The Lab
Tech demo for VR
There is a huge gambling aspect on CS
There really isn't.
The skins are completely optional, and they hand you free ones from time to time.
Of course the you and the people that hired you have never played counterstrike so you have a completely superficial understanding of it and think Counterstrike has a
PLEASE PAY YOUTUBER TO CONTINUE PLAYING
Lock screen after every time you die.
The skins are completely optional
Wow, you're so disillusioned.
This is well documented, so you can keep ignoring reality if you want, it won't make it false.
The monetization scheme of artifact is bafflingly stupid.
TCG secondhand markets were already cancer but you at least owned your cards and could proxy them with self printed cards outside of tournament play anyway (tournaments are gay anyway), but pay per play is beyond retarded.
And this isn't even factoring in how no one cared about it.
It might have found a playerbase if it wasn't so aggressively after your wallet
lists games that were made by modders and bought out after the fact
also where the fuck is my ricochet 2
i know they think of artifact as the one that didn't but that game was so good. i wish it was around still and monetized in a more acceptable way so i could play it instead of marvel snap. come back artifact come back
The reality is that I have several thousand hours between GLDSRC, Source, CS:GO and CS:2, and in the entire time I've been playing I've never had this screen come up
Because that would be literally retarded
The "one that didnt" is ricochet. Theyve been at peace with its lack of success for 25 years at this point.
No response
That's what I thought, fucker.
There are none, they have made the world strictly worse. Valve is to modders what EA is to small studios.
They're literally taking credit for community mods that had nothing to do with them. How embarrassing
This is genuinely the worst take I've ever read so far on this board. Maybe you should consider tying a knot
HL2 (the first) and L4D 1 and 2 are literally the only good games up there
CS ripped off Rainbow Six
They didn't make dota, portal or l4d, they just bought the teams that did
you can't just hire people to work for you
No other company is held to this weird standard.
Tell me about it.
I should knot myself for what?
DOTA it's on par with LOL, both are shitty games, the playerbase is so fucking toxic and autistic that they should not just exist, the only good thing is that unlike other games community they have the decency to keep their shit in contained areas.
CS community during the 1.5 or whatever area was insufferable, since their shitty game was the perfection, they shat on other communities because R6, OFP, SoF, name your FPS from that area, wasn't like their shitty game, you have no idea how many people we banned or removed from servers due their 1vs1 me on CS, them with Quake and UT players were the worst
Don't like my take on Portal? Who fucking cares, nice idea, but both games are worse than more niche puzzle games like Cogs
Don't like my take on HL? First game was annoying as fuck, at least maps were bigger and less linear, HL2 is the complete opposite, it was just a fucking errand simulator with some girl who just wanted to eat your fucking dick and his father sending you to do errands and occasionally kill space commies
I played DoD to a very good extent, original maps were too small, certain were not, still I was playing like 6 different games, it fail to entertain me, mostly because CoD UO had a better game mode with bigger maps, and also custom servers had huge maps like LoTR ones, DoD and DoD Source had fucking none, why bother?
Then we have run to point A to point B and kill zombies, L4D was fine, got repetitive quite fast, mostly played on advanced and expert only with friends, it was fine albeit community kicking me for being friends with, learned to avoid VS cause cancer
L4D2 was ruined due VS idiots, all the fun and shortcuts were getting removed due VS fags, ported L4D1 maps were also ruined cause VS fags crying against rushing people, who cares. Game hit the shitter quite fast.
Whoa hey anon, don't you know it's completely reasonable for youtubers to blame the company for not stopping them from running bots to shit up their game, this is at all a standard we have for any company these days.
Oh, and also cheating definitely is NOT endemic to online multiplayer at this point with the chinese coming over, it's uniquely a Valve game issue.
Valve does the bare minimum out of any company (Riot Games, Blizzard and etc) to stop bots and cheaters, only when enough people has cried on Youtube or forums do they take action.
Gaben has his dick so far down your throat it's blocking your vision, you cumguzzling monkey, imagine living in fairytale land like you..
Every company is held to this standard, you retarded Valvecucks

Something something Artifact beta.
Oh i forgot to mention that Artifact was just a dota 2 card game, and you can't really play csgo anymore as has been completely replaced by cs2
imagine living in fairytale land like you
Ah yes, I live in the fairytale land, not the guy claiming chink infested games (riot) do not have a cheating problem.
As long as they keep Dota barely functioning, they can do whatever they want, I don't care.
I'll play Portal or Half-life 3 if they ever make one.
Valve started going to hell around 2011 and the descent never stopped.
still never played a multiplayer FPS better than TF2
Same, and while it's convenient that I've only had to give a shit about a single multiplayer class based FPS game (which is practically a dead genre now) for the past 18 years, it doesn't make me happy that there are literally no other good alternatives.
Not arguing any point other than
how many other games form 1998 do you know that are still active? Quake and that's pretty much it
StarCraft, RE2, Marvel vs. Capcom, Ocarina Of Time, MGS, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Fallout 2, Tomb Raider 3, Banjo Kazooie, Spyro The Dragon, Casear 3, Unreal, Ridge Racer Type 4, Pokemon forgot the color, Goldeneye 007, and Thief. Literally one of, if not the best and most influential times in video game history, and all you could think of is Quake - one of the few video game series that doesn't have a single mainline title that has come out in 1998.
