Yes, Microsoft is doing what Nintendo does and releasing their hardware when they feel is the right time. They were originally going to use Zen 6 UDNA like Sony but has opted for Zen 5 RDNA 4 while their Switch-like hybrid will be Zen 5 RDNA 3.5+. Their hybrid will be sold everywhere like your usual home console device.

Looking at the price hikes of the current consoles the new ones are going to be super expensive so this gen will last a while.

I've gone back to exclusively playing PS2 games on a PS2. It's way more fun hunting down working discs for reasonable prices than buying anything new, especially digitally, and there's a lot of interesting trends you can notice.
The average number of "greatest hits" reissues of PS2 games that you can find mint in the plastic is ridiculous. I never intended to play FFX-2 in my life, but finding a factory sealed greatest hits copy for 6 dollars at a flea market made me want to.

Did the exact same thing but got a series s. I had a ps4 and babied it and got the blue light of death. Took it to multiple repair shops and they said it was unfixable. Microsoft got their shit together and actually made a reliable and attractive product at a good price. Also gamepass was a no brainer compared to PlayStation plus- and the sugar on top is I got like 4 years of gamepass for $60 by converting Turkish Xbox live codes.

Tricks could offer performance relative to hundreds of times the hardware available though. Or unbound by hardware entirely if all 2D except for physics and effects. All PC hardware makes back compat require no actions. New hardware could keep the library, do them better and allow devs to aim higher.

The 68000 has a minimum of 4 cycles per instruction, while the 6502 has a 2 cycles per instruction minimum, and as the complexity of the instruction grows, the gap gets even wider.
And as both CPUs are roughly the same clock speed, the 6502 is twice as fast as long it's 2D shit that mostly use 8bit math.
The 68000 wins if it's 3D shit or something that really does a lot of fixed point math like physics.

Also the PS6 is probably gonna be the smallest jump in graphical performance ever. It'll be like going from the GC to the Wii. These 2 systems were basically the same shit performance wise.
