FUCK CRAPCOM
FUCK CRAPCOM
14 years and it still hurts
Megaman fans got exactly what they wanted and paid for.
Why did this bother people so much? The first two games suck ass. Style over substance.
What was once an aberration is now a common fixture in the industry.
The greatest adventure... is just around the bend!
Why did this bother people so much?
Because the first two games were great, they never even bothered to release the demo they already had finished, and they essentially gave the fanbase a middle finger on top of it all with why they didn't release it.
it was an enormous exercise in corporate freaks not "getting it," it was also irresponsible veering into dishonest
a bunch of people who were passionate about this little series with really strong characters and world building that ended on a cliffhanger got together and announced a game without a trailer or a project greenlight
capcom was hyper aggressive towards it for some reason, decided by arbitrary metrics that the game would underperform, meddled in the process of producing a prototype, wasted resources on things that nobody wanted, demanded the expenditures be scrapped in favor of a new demo whose sales (yes it was to be a paid demo) would determine if the project at large was greenlit
eventually the project got canned and capcom staff blamed the community for not developing the game at low cost - it was a mismanaged clusterfuck top to bottom and capping it off with hostility towards the audience was the icing on the cake
And somehow people still trust corporations
The fuck are you talking about. I played them for the first time this year and they were fucking magnificent, filled to the brim with detail and attention, gameplay could surprisingly challenging at times even even for a game that boils down to circle firing. Way too much content, too
From what I remember the top already gave an order to can it and make it not their fault.
The post was the damage control
why can't game companies just make niche games for niche audiences anymore? everything has to make millions now or else there's no point in it existing
played the first game not that ong ago. it aged like like piss
line must go up
based inafug giving us a new HERO
Megamanchildren be like AAHHHH NOOOO THIS SUBSERIES ONLY GOT 5 SEQUELS
The post was gaslighting
FTFY
This but Okami
Investors see this as wasted marketing funds.
They see normies as cattle they need to brainwash to sell a product and the bigger the marketing the better the result. CEO's see more funds to embezzle in a bigger project.
Fun isn't the product, (You) are.
Aged like fine wine
I leave my legacy... to you...
Surely the Legends Legacy Collection will save the series…
1 sequel, and a minigame spinoff. Ebin strawman though.
They sure are dragging their feet to even give Vonutt that chance. It's been 10 FUCKING YEARS since the Classic Legacy Collection dropped.
lmao
Pure, absolute cringe kino.
He's here to carry on the spirit.
IT'S HAPPENING!! TAKE THAT CAPCOM!!
I can't forgive Capcom for what they did to the point that I only buy Capcom products on a massive discount.
There is definitely some embezzling or money laundering involved. Remember SF2 alone made over a billion dollars in the 90s. And when SF3 was released it was almost bare bones like they didn't have the budget to develop the game. Where did the money went?
I tried playing Misadventures of Tron Bonne and it's really not that good
action mode is worse MML gameplay with unfun new gimmicks
puzzle mode is ok I guess, but just ok
RPG mode licks taint
micromanaging the servbots is a pain in the ass
Definitely one of those games that gets attention for being rare and obscure rather than for being good.
Who cares? The game is shit and it isn't MM
The only minigame I straight up did not enjoy was chasing the farm animals around. But the "town raiding" minigame where servbots loot and pillage is ridiculously short for how good it was.
Based.

It's purely because Inafune left. He admitted he knew he was condemning the game to be cancelled but he did want to stick around any longer
At the time I didn't blame him, but god was his exit and personal company founding mishandled. I still wonder how much of Comcept being trash is his fault.
What'll take at least to get Command Missions remaster
Why would you remind me?
Unless they doubled the plot length (and maybe turned down random encounter rates) it's really not worth it.
Not even releasing the demo despite it being nearly finished, if not finished, is still crazy to me
Also wasn't the initial MML3 project started because of inafune pushing for it? Were people not mad at him for leaving it?
It's not awful, but yeah after initially playing it I never wanted to play it again
bwahHAHAHHAA
the fact nobody made a fangame means nobody cared enough anyway, so capcom was right
DUDE RUN IN A CIRCLE AROUND THE BOSS AND SHOOT THE GAME
like, when i was a kid i had fun but as an adult i see these games are like 30-45 minutes long if you skip dialog
Nobody made a fangame
He apologized to the team themselves and even tried to convince Capcom to temo hire him as a consultant to see the game to completion but they pretty much told him to fuck off
I see, that makes more sense
Still a bit of a weird time to leave capcom tho
it's pretty comical looking back at the kickstarter history, but i do feel for the people that backed the game
spiritual successor to an inactive series with a cult fanbase is announced by one of its original developers
expectations and emotions run wild; financial investment into the kickstarter only intensified them
poor communication and advertising during the kickstarter's run causes uncertainty and pessimism
the game ultimately just being "fine" just pisses people off after the preceding shitshows, simultaneously causing a complete reversal of inafune's public perception
megaman 11 coming out a few years after and being a generally well received addition to the series just made that entire fiasco even more hysterical
it's more the situaiton around the cancellation than the actual cancellation itself. they basically said "YOU DIDN'T SUPPORT THE SERIES WELL ENOUGH ITS YOUR FAULT THE GAME IS CANCELLED NOW!" when megaman legends supporters at the time were some of the most vocal people on the internet. it was a totally tone deaf response.
But anon, they NEED to hire more and more employees to work on a single game, otherwise the execs wouldn't be able to pay them peanuts while increasing their own salary.
He admitted it was shitty timing but he didn't feel comfortable sticking around any longer
lol 11 is every bit as middling as MN9
it's pretty comical looking back at the kickstarter history, but i do feel for the people that backed the game
same
I didn't back it but I did learn a valuable lesson from it about the dangers of being hyped
i do not like this image
The interest just wasn't there. They weren't going to throw money away so you retards get free stuff
Here, as apology.
It would have made a profit. Games usually do. It just wouldn't be selling multiple millions of copies.
the game ultimately just being "fine"
It was unplayable shit
just kidding nigga you fucking suck.
Capcom as a whole has never liked Megaman. There were influential people in the company who pushed it (and for early entries, worked on it on their own time) and they are long gone.
Any decent "spiritual successor" games to MML pop up over the years?
15 years later we've kind of figured out that Inafune is a moron with a big ego. Inafune wanted to promoted omre, and likely an eye on being the CEO, and this was blocked so he left the company.
MML3 is a consequence of this, a he's the only one in charge who wanted it. He even said he would love if the project was re-started with Comcept in charge. Total Con man idiot!
Yes, Gunvolt/Luminous Avenger is very good.
Misread the L there, sorry. I was thinking X/Zero. Nope.
No it fucking isn't
This the one (1) game that can still be made and be timeless and good enough
You don't even need a big budget. Is it that much to ask for MML2 with QoL changes? Just sharpen the art style and that's it, no need to dump 200M
remember mega man? Send cash.
outside of the wii u port running abysmally and multiplayer having a similar level of quality across platforms, it's playable. if mn9 didn't have the baggage of its development history saddled alongside it, it'd just be considered a mediocre platformer and little else
FUCK YOU
You didn't backed Red Ash
It reached the goal fucker
CRY LIKE AN ANIME FAN ON PROM NIGHT!
I will never forgive Capcom
I wouldn't go that far. It's true they almost didn't even give MM2 a chance, but it's not out of some latent "disdain" for the character... they hold nothing but a corporate outlook of video games that if a game doesn't make record numbers, they see it as not worth their time at best, and counterproductive at worst. God forbid they nurture their longstanding properties and build up faithful audiences who sustain them during their slumps over the years. No, everything needs to be glamorous and the biggest game on the block! It's very soulless and grubby. But expect nothing less from a narcissistic board room full of human shit.
Think what you wanna think
Captcha: Y00KS
Inafune is a moron with a big ego
That is hardly unique to him. Every big wig inside Capcom is self-serving and egotistical. You only hate Inafune because you can see him.
at least there's some delicious pizza
I also hate the board of Square-Enix, since it seems like an entire board of clueless Inafunes. Despite being a "businessman" Inafune is a and a bad one. Clueless about gameplay, can't manage shit, chasing trends, wanting to make everything a multi-media juggernaut from the get-go.
Fantasy life was set to be Kaoi King of Pirates without Hino steppng in.
do u got the original picture of "Bagginman" anon?
That's the only one I have saved.
leave Capcom
show zero management skills by fumbling each subsequent project with poor planning, miscommunication, no oversight and quality control, unfulfilled promises, etc.
Inafune was always a hack carried by Capcom's in-house talent, right?
Inafune was always a hack carried by Capcom's in-house talent, right?
Correct. he could wave his hand to the staff and tell them to make a "samurai game" or a "zombie game with a mall", or "a roman gladiator game", and they'd churn out gold. Inafune then got the idea that he was the secret sauce that made these projects work, and he didn't need Capcom anymore.
He also got some bone-headed ideas about why some games were good or bad. MML is a bit of a slog, but he didn't pick up on that and thought it'd sell well and doesn't see what GTA did better than MML.
gamespot.com
Capcom never had any faith in Legends 3. When Inafune proposed the Legends 3 crowdsourcing campaign, the execs basically went "Fine, if it'll get you to shut up. But you're on your own." So then he started up the campaign, but left just before the demo would launch. Since the stipulation was that Inafune would handle the project himself with little to no support from the higher ups, when he left, it basically left the company to deal with the mess. This was, of course, a complete breach of the initial terms. Now, it was either cancel the project completely and look like the bad guys, or take complete ownership of a project that they never had any faith in in the first place. They chose to end it.
From Capcom's perspective, it was lose/lose either way.
Reminder that Inafune completely stopped making Con appearances outside of Japan in 2015 and I don't think he's even set foot in America since then. Also, the comcept website is still up and is frozen in time to 2016.
yes, we've established that Inafune is human fecal matter. Conman Inafune should have at least stayed on until the project was completed before leaving.
See
line must go up
This isn’t an exaggeration. Tons of public companies on the stock market world wide has experienced enshittification because of this. They can’t ignore stockholders because that’s going to cause said stock holders to crash the stock, ask for government intervention, or downright cause a class action lawsuit for failing to listen to investor demands.
Nah, I bought and played it last year. I'd at least rank it above MM4.
To this day, I haven't given capcom a penny for anything since then.
Fuck crapcom
This is the event that lead me to understand that japanese buisiness men are really just emotional high school girls in suits.
They're fucking retarded and let their feelings control their actions instead of logic.
Retard.
Thanks for letting me know my opinion matters to you
The weird thing about it is that it feels like capcom sabatoaged that game. They suddenly announced some stupid party in new york on a tuesday night when people to celebrate megaman. And when that shit bombed since nobody got time for it... they canceled megaman legends 3.
It was such a weird time to announce some megaman celebration party.
There never was a Legends 3 development.
Inafune used his own IP as a fall-guy for Capcom to look like shit when they canceled it after he left. Why else would he announce MN9 and Red Ash almost immediately after?
Megaman Legends 3: The most anticipated game in the series
There was one. Some of the involved staff even still mention it, Inafune was just riding the Kickstarter hype train and figured he could get his own DASH with blackjack and hookers out of it
There never was a Legends 3 development.
There was. We literally have gameplay of it being played on the 3DS.
I think it's funny how thoroughly Inafune trashed his reputation over and over again so you couldn't just say it was one project that went south. You now have 15 years of bombs and cancelled troubled projects. Everything he touches shows a lack of understanding how to manage projects. It's wild. what was he even doing at Capcom for 25 years?!
Still praying deep down it gets leaked even if it's only just the demo
I mean, we somehow managed to get the Daredevil prototype leaked which was supposed to be MIA and Spaceworld's demo which was supposed to not even exist so anything is possible.
same thing for yuji naka and sonic too, he keeps getting busted for insider trading at each company he floats around to
That was the piece to resistance after the Balan Wonderworld debacle. Balan is sorta kinda the sort of game that would come out on the dreamcast, and if you can squint you can see an almost okay game in there. If this was handled by top Sega devs in 2001 it would probably be okay.
Inafune (so far) has remained out of a jail cell (sadly). It wouldn't shock me if insider trading is common among Japanese devs and executives.
I'll say it, the demo looked underwhelming and lacked the low poly charm of the first two games
yeah it's not actually very dissimilar to billy hatcher, even shares a similar artstyle and approach to human characters, yuji naka's overall approach to game design is there
it's just also his "metroid: other m", where he went fucking insane demanding a complicated game with a terribly limited control scheme
2 games and 1 spinoff isn’t enough to justify a Legacy Collection, guess the Legends games will be lost to time, meanwhile they have no problem with multiple Fighting Game Collections
2 games and 1 spinoff isn’t enough to justify a Legacy Collection
Barring a spinoff that's basically all the SF collection would be, unless they slapped a translated version of OSS in there.
Did a Megaman have a rough transition into 3D? Forget about Sonic, never understood why people memed that on Sonic
You crazy anon? Megaman fans aren’t as dedicated as Sonic fans when it comes to fan games
X7 is a decent first-attempt at a traditional mega man game in 3D to be desu
its problems come from janky physics, bosses taking forever to die, the "save the civvies" reploid saving from X5/X6 still being kept around, X being an unlockable character, and the game being visibly unfinished
Megaman X...had a rough transition to 3D
mega man unlimited, mega man maker, the billions of rom hacks (especially minus infinity but that guy is a fucking god programmer), x corrupted and unlimted 2 coming Eventually™
Megaman Legends is garbage and if you weren't retarded, you'd be giving them shit for the games that actually were good at one point.
oh also the goat 8-bit Deathmatch
Capcom as a whole has never liked Megaman.
Whether or not they like it, Megaman is responsible along with Street Fighter for putting Capcom on the map and in the wider gaming space and the reason they enjoy the success they accumulated to reach that point.
Didn’t the guy in charge of DMC also leave Capcom recently? Forgot his name
Because some shareholder twat asked why they put x and y million dollars on x and y niche games that made a few hundred thousand profit, all they want is the new fad game that makes billions.
Hideaki Itsuno, he left Capcom very probably because of meddling in Dragon's Dogma 2 development. DD2 had a lot of yapping about its features and gameplay and in some ways it's even *more* shallow than DD1, a very blatantly unfinished game, was. RE Engine is just not suited to open world games. DMC5 runs like a dream, DD2 runs like total fucking shit, both games are on the same engine.
shareholder
*executive
Inafune was always a hack carried by Capcom's in-house talent, right?
What about Yuji Naka what are everyone’s thoughts on him?
Itsuno. Clearly got burned on DD2, probably had the new Power Stone from the Capcom leak axed as well.
I kinda miss when these were the biggest gaming controversies, and not say turning mega man into a black lesbian
infamously naka meddled like absolute fuck in sonic x-treme's development just to make sure the filthy gaijins couldn't develop a game and it was a big contributor to the saturn's failure that they didn't have a "killer app" for it
Forget Earthbound 64, somebody needs to discover a leak build of this and leak it
earthbound 64 seems like it would've been dogshit anyways honestly
