If Monolith ever make a Xenoblade 2 Definitive Edition...

If Monolith ever make a Xenoblade 2 Definitive Edition, do you think they'll modify any of the blade designs or super-egregious stuff like field skills? Or is it set in stone with no second chances to go back and change anything?

Xenoblade 1 was left almost completely unchanged when the devs redid it, even Sharla's kit being awful. I was surprised to see how many sweeping changes they made to X, and how many improvements and touch-ups it got.

Don't the Japanese have some hangup about admitting mistakes officially, and how it'd be shameful to acknowledge them? Kinda like the Porygon Effect?

That face

You just KNOW

Be me

XCX, chapter 4

Thoroughly enjoying Noctilum

Stumble upon this giant open body of water

There's a cool-looking mech in the middle

Must investigate

Swim over

Wow it's huge

Can I loot it? Is it used for something?

Hmm maybe I can stand on i-OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK WHY ARE WE ALL DEAD AAAAHHH

They almost assuredly will have remasters of xc2 and xc3 on switch 2 so you can play them in a non dogshit blurry mess resolution. Hopefully they will remove the xc2 field skills and make specific blades targetable to pull or just let you pick what your next blade is like relink did

It's kinda interesting how you can see design influences for other locations in the series all over Noctilum. The big open parts with the cliffs remind me of Makna Forest's big open part with the waterfalls. The grassy parts early on seem likethey were an inspiration for Uraya, especially with all of the weird plants. Maktha Forest in XC3 REALLY seems like its lower section was based on the "thick canopied dense jungle wth tree trunk staircases and walkways". The reference was lost on me back when I played XC3, it's odd to notice it backward like this.

Also wtf how is there a WHOLE OTHER HALF of Noctilum??? It's HUGE!

I just want those games to get a free resolution / frame rate update.

I just finished chapter 4, any neat stuff I should go look at? I'm tempted to rush through the next chapter to get Overdrive, but is there anything I should go check out first?

Why would we need a XB3 remaster? I could see an update, but it only needs the vaseline filter removed and the upscaler to be adjusted to compensate.
XB2 needs a lot more work both technically and also in terms of gameplay QOL.

Yeah all xb3 needs is some engine tweaks to let it run at an acceptable level of performance and pre-rendered cutscenes run in 4k

They probably will not make an Xenoblade 2 Definitive Edition, same with 3.

The game will be perfectly playable on Switch 2. At best they'll do patches for the games so that they could benefit from the increased power of the Switch 2 hardware. Xenoblade 2 in particular could use it to keep a consistent resolution. It's crazy how good 2 looks when emulated at a high resolution compared to how it looks on the Switch.

Kinda suprised this isn’t announced already considering how many people have criticized the games and wanted this for years and it wouldn’t take very much work

Well the idea is that XC2 was rushed out the door by a skeleton crew, and the game suffered for it. The design is VERY rough in a lot of places and could do with a second pass or revision (field skills, UI, map, affinity charts, tutorials, etc.). Plus half of the cutscenes are low-budget with robotic animations and lifeless movements, like they had to pick and choose a handful to prioritize and work on fully, while the rest got the bare minimum. I'm not sure whether the handheld resolution was ever fixed or not, but I remember it being EXTREMELY jaggy.

Then there's stuff like half of the blades having incohesive designs that are screaming for a buff/rework, annoyances like Pneuma being stuck at E rank trust permanently, etc.

yeah yeah blah blah blah now just post blade form nia thank you

playing XB2 for the first time

unlocked Blade Nia a few days ago

found her to be kind of abrasive at first but now I'm starting to get really endeared to her

even though I said I'm going to rush to get Pyra back, I feel myself slowly forgetting about her

Don't even look at Brighid anymore who I at least lusted after

Oh no...I didn't even know who Nia was before I played this game. I'm not becoming a waifufag am I?

What's doubly crazy is how Nintendo isn't fellating Monolith for how good they make their system look. Whenever criticism of how dogshit Pokemon looks comes up and someone defends them by pointing out the Switch's low power, everyone immediately points at the Xenoblade for how good it could look. Flawed as it may be, framerate issues, inconsistent resolution, it still looks good even in handheld mode. You'd think Nintendo would be parading their name through the streets.

Nintendo used Monolith heavily but the Kyoto studio is expanding, that's the support studio that's helping first party.

Xenoblade 2 Definitive Edition

Would be the only XC I dont buy. 2 sucks mega ass.

Nia is always overcompensating and begging for attention in these pics with Pyra and Mythra, what an attention whore

To be fair, Pyra and Mythra have much heavier equipment than Nia

i put my pyra figure in a jar

didn't ask.

omg anon you're like, such a gooner. xenoblade threads are dying because of YOU, all you do is fap and post PORN instead of discussing the games like a REAL fan!

They haven't done any major changes to the designs in their DEs so far, so the blades should be safe.
As for gameplay changes, I fucking hope so. XC2 is a good game when it lets you play it, but it's buried under various layers of slow menuing, grindy requirements, a literal "just wait 20 minutes" mechanic and weird/non-functional balance decisions.

Post them stacked up with their asses and vaginas ready to go

slow menuing

grindy requirements

These 2 are my biggest criticisms of XB2 so far. There's so much time spent just waiting for even the most basic shit. Even going to the pause menu is a pain in the ass just because of how long it takes to load. Needing to stop progress because you have to go back and kill a specific enemy just to unlock a single affinity skill that's a marginal improvement because the better ones are behind it.

Id also like to point out how often you're dependent on RNG to even get past quests. I had the unfortunate luck of not being able to get Keen Eye for a long time. Ironically I didn't get a common blade with Keen Eye until after I got Brighid who comes bundled with it.

There's fun in XB2 but it does everything possible to keep you away from it

because you have to go back and kill a specific enemy

Oh that's nothing, I'm happy when I read it's just killing a bunch of enemies.
Now have fun smashing the jump button 6000 times. Actual in-game requirement yes.

2 isn't getting a DE

SEX WITH NEILNAIL!!!!!

the only change I'd want to see is outfits no longer take accessory/augment slot
everything else is fine

That would be a start but there is a lot more work to do. For the most part it's the game that needs the most QoL changes so far, but nothing that touches the actual core gameplay mechanics.

rex got to make babies with all 3 of them

not me

games for this feel? Someone post the rex family picture

nothing that touches the actual core gameplay mechanics

On the contrary, the gameplay during the first roughly ten hours of the game should honestly be completely overhauled.

Like what? It stays pretty good all the way through once you unlock all the mechanics save for Pneuma, but she isn't exactly nearly mandatory like chains for instance

Shut up faggot.

I don’t think Xenoblade 2 needs a definitive edition. 1 and X were both special cases that were made before the current direction of the series and (in Monolith’s mind) needed some structural reworks to fit in. Xenoblade 2’s gameplay problems could pretty easily be solved in a patch.

What I think is gonna happen is that 1 DE, X DE, and 3 + Future Redeemed will get free patches that boost the resolution and frame rate. They’re already content complete and don’t need any ground-level changes.

2 + Torna will get a Switch 2 edition that overhauls the menus, adds a couple of extra blades, and touches up some things like field skills to be less frustrating. There won’t be any new story content.

I think the problem is how long it takes the unlock the core mechanics. Like the most fun and effective way to fight are using blade and driver combos. But Rex can't inflict Break or Topple at the start of the game. So in your first few hours where you're establishing your rhythm for combat, you wouldn't even know that you can make enemies explode while buffing yourself. You also might be confused as to what the fuck Seal Self Destruct even means for hours

But Rex can't inflict Break or Topple at the start of the game.

But Nia can Break(twin rings, default wep), Tora can Topple(Poppi alpha), Rex can Launch(Greataxe, you can use a common). Smash is locked until Morag unless you use Corvin from DLC though, so early game combat would really just be trying to do blade combos quickly and possibly get the damage boost from driver->blade fusion combo effect.

They'll censor it for california

I just want to finally be able to emulate the damn thing at 60FPS without the game breaking.

God just shut the fuck up and go back to resetera already
