Basically they agreed to have the show on Max but then paramount decided to have their own streaming shit so pissed that the contracted one of their only good IPs they noticed the contract stated the get exclusive steaming rights to the show but no mention to the movie (BIgger Longer and Uncut) so paramount started doing south park 'specials' which are double length episode with some topical theme like onlyfans, disney, and like 3 pandemic specials. Legally they call these movies because then they dont owe them to Max and can stream them on Paramount+ which is leading HBO to sue Paramount. Hence why the show is getting like no real episodes. They don't count the specials as part of the show
