Removed gfwl and consecuently made online multiplayer and saves inaccessible.

They also updated LP Colonies, RE ORC and SFxT I believe with similiar effects.

If they fix the Colonies version of LP1 with Steamworks, they should give it away for free to anyone that owns the original version and remove that one from sale. No reason to have both versions on Steam.

Praying that LP1&2 get more active online if they fix Colonies and 2 with Steamworks

I love the pvp too. When it comes to LP the userbase is split between Colonies and 2 so the focus ends up on the coop setpieces.

Low sales and an abundance of mp shooters during that generation lead to fewer people playing pvp.

Haven't been playing in a while but there are active groups still playing. Not enough to get a full lobby going but I'm sure removing gfwl/putting the game on sale again would bring back some interest, at least for a few weeks.

Obviously they're going to announce the new remaster, done in UE5 with all the problematic stuff removed or censored.

DRDR used RE Engine, no reason to switch to UE5.
As for the games themselves, I'm more worried about a fucked up fov and ugly graphics rather than a few edited body pieces.

I've played LP2 more than anyone on this site going back to when the first demo came out and I loved every minute of it. Most players enjoyed the game but hated GFWL which hurt the release. Still, it sold well enough to warrant a sequel, though it was panned hard by the games media. That critical reception is what pressured Capcom into going the wrong direction creatively and they westernized the formula to appeal to Western journos. Obviously that backfired, but there was a lot of growth potential left in the series even after LP2 perfected the formula.

Lost Planet 2 came out when cinematic narrative games were picking up steam and pure co-op gameplay games like LP2 were shit on for being too simple and arcadey (hint: this means "i hate japanese games") and for prioritizing multiplayer in a sequel instead of continuing the first games story (because we love continuous epic sequel narratives!!! which LP2 wasn't)

Lost Planet 2 was split Kingdom Hearts style into two halves that both don't fully understand what makes it so special and one of the best games ever made. Lost Planet 3 was the heartless that tried to chase western sensibilities while abandoning the soul of what the game was to embody something else, while EX Troopers was the nobody that was trapped in Japan and forgot the real meaning behind many of the gameplay and design choices the series was built on even if it managed to strike out as its own thing in ways that aligned to a extent with the series.
