Why is it taking forever?
Why is it taking forever?
they're trying to come up with a way to not get its ports cracked day -14
it's coming out next year. shouldn't be too much longer now.
Christmas.
you're not talking about christmas this year are you? they haven't even made a official announcement...
Every time Sony inflates the PS2 sales numbers, it delays the Switch 2 launch by a year
last minute pivot after the steamdeck and the new era of hyper powerful handhelds ate their lunch.
you're not talking about christmas this year are you?
I am, christmas 2024 is the reason they haven't shown it yet.
rumors are saying it's because they kept putting it off so they could launch with a bunch of stock at once. kinda killed my interest in the system, it's taken too long to come out. i'd rather wait a year for the deck 2.
Your Legend of Pokemon machine will be ready when it's ready.
oh i am retard i understand now lol
It's coming out tomorrow Happy Thanksgiving :)

finally get an OLED Deck
tfw playing games at 60FPS
tfw OoT, Majoras Mask and Mario 64 source ports
tfw shit like Kingdom Hearts which only got Cloud versions on Switch
Should have done this ages back. My Switch is collecting maximum dust
They've been working on the SoC for Switch 2 since 2019.
ate their lunch
You mean, "being collectively less popular than Wii U"?
Incorrect.
President Furukawa said about the details of the Nintendo Switch successor, "There is no change in the plan to announce it during the fiscal year ending March 2025. I can't say anything more than that." Regarding potential hesitation to purchase the current model due to the announcement of a successor, he added, "I can't say it doesn't exist at all, but the Switch is already in its eighth year since launch. I don't think the presence or absence of a successor will have much impact on customers who are purchasing it at this timing."
kek, its 2007 and you're shit talking iphone sales while investing in nokia. The cat is out of the bag, that market segment is going to be flooded with superior products, if they dont pivot they will die.
tfw shit like Kingdom Hearts which only got Cloud versions on Switch
To be fair that was just SE being extra jewish.
because Jewtindo is still ass mad about PS2 they keep lying about Switch sales until it can be safely said that Shitsh outsold the PS2.
hurr durr c-cope
I have never seen or heard anyone buying the shitsh for years
there aren't even any new major games
your Famitsu meme threads always show the same 8 games from 5 years ago
It's not taking forever you're just autistic and ask the same question every hour
Cope
no argument
glad you also agree that 2033 was a movie game
Based Snoy, trying to bring Tardendo back in line with the rest of the console generation releases instead of being a special snowflake starting the next gen halfway through the previous.
ok snoygger
enough about sony being ass mad about the switch and pathetically lying about the PS2 sales until it can be safely said that the switch did not outsell the PS2
PS2 had a huge library
Switch has 5 WiiU games + random children games
Right. It's 2010 and iphone is still selling worse than n-gage lmao
It's Sony and MS who start late.
late 2025 release
They're making probably 20 mil
2 years after the iphones release it was still at less than 10% of the popular dumb phones of its era. What nintendo is worried about is not the steam deck but the entire new market category of portable gaming PCs. This is why they flipped out and started trying to destroy emulation.
Nintendo is already completely outclassed on every metric by a fat, ugly prototype, in 5 years the market segment is going to make their products look like toys, the switch 2 may even be in danger of being emulated if they dont pivot away from power as a selling point. This isn't even to mention the re-introduction of sony and a new portable xbox.
What nintendo is worried about is not the steam deck but the entire new market category of portable gaming PCs
No, they aren't.
What nintendo is worried about is not the steam deck but the entire new market category of portable gaming PCs. This is why they flipped out and started trying to destroy emulation.
Or maybe because gaming journalists and the average modern emufag are way too stupid to the point of giving away the existence of emulators/roms/etc and where to find them, without any filter.
Yeah, Nintendo just started hunting down all the switch emulators for no reason, the rom sites got targeted randomly, YouTube videos about emulating on the steam deck were just copyright struck for no reason.
it is completely retarded to posit that nintendo was unaware of emulation or rom sites till now. They just weren't threatened by it till competitor machines were emulating exactly what they were selling. during the DS piracy era they were similarly motivated.
At this point they fucked up and waited way too long. If they launch next year and Trump actually implements his proposed tariffs on Chinese manufactured goods, the Switch 2 is basically DOA.
Ships consoles to USA from factories in Vietnam
Nothing personnel
For a reason. The reason being they don't want people stealing their shit.
Switch 2 in the first quarter will outsell all PC handhelds combined.
They've fucked up. They've waited way too long. The best time to release this would've been a year ago, not a year from now, and the longer they wait, the worse it's going to get.
do you not see what's going on in the world more over the video game industry?
Nintendos next move is make or break. Sony is having a hard time, microsoft is lol, games industry is down sizing, cost of games and development only goes up, Supposed tarrifs on products from the united states..... lots of things to carfully consider.
Of course the heavily marketed console with a massive physical and global presence will outsell devices that don't have that. It's the core of Nintendo's business. It has to sell at least 50 million just to not be a total failure. And regardless PC handhelds will continue to grow and erode Nintendo's hardware, and the longer Nintendo takes, the worse it's going to get.
Because there's a lot of headwind against it at this point and it can easily fail and if it fails Nintendo is fucked as it's their only hardware line left. People who hopped on with the Switch have no clue how hard Nintendo's success can fluctuate with each generation.
Don't worry I'm sure Sony will find more PS2 copies being sold in the shithole you live
Because they are waiting for gta6 to drop its release date
Nintendo have run head first into 8th gen/PS4 quality graphics and it's to the point where they've had to delay the release of the console again and again internally, it's good that they hadn't officially announced it or else they'd be having to publicly announce delays.
probably the lineup of games is still not enough.
Also they're probably focusing on stomping all emulation related issues, avoiding what happened with the switch (emulation of games day 1)
desu it's not as if they need to do anything. sony keeps spending money on big flops, microsoft probably forgot they even had consoles
Nintendo being so timid to release new hardware will end up being a large part of it's failure.
because they had to add a second screen, that’s what the 2 is for
They don't need to do anything, but they have that idea in their head, look at how often Nintendo would give third parties entire quarters of small Nintendo releases so that third parties would go unchallenged only for third parties to do minimal effort ports. Switch 2 will definitely have a disappointing 2nd year just like the Switch because Nintendo are too trusting of third parties even though their back is covered in daggers from all of them.
desu it's not as if they need to do anything
PC is going to slowly eat their lunch. Nintendo is propped up entirely on ignorance right now.
Nintendo's concern is not PC handhelds, but PCs in general. In recent years, the market for PC games has grown considerably in Japan.
Switch is just behind Steam in terms of monthly users, Nintendo are actually fine.
Having a more powerful console will only strengthen Nintendo's position in Japan, the Switch's performance with games was noticable, even games that looked like Switch quality ran like shit, Switch 2 will run games good enough to the point where for most Japanese users there just isn't any value in paying multiple times the cost of a Switch for a PC.
i hope it takes even longer, im still slurping stocks
Sega Game Gear has better screen, its gonna take over
Sega Nomad has better screen, its going to win
PSP has can play movies and music and browse the internet, Nintendo is finished
ipod touch doesnt need a stylus to play games, this is the end of Nintendo handhelds
iphone can do everything and play games, apps will be the end of Nintendo mobile games
PS Vita is, erm, nevermind
Portable PCs have better specs and hardware, its over for Nintendo
Lmfao
Sega Game Gear
no games
Sega Nomad
no games
>PSP
no games
ipod touch
no games
iphone
no games
PS Vita
no games
Portable PC
every fucking game ever made
you wanna try again?
How is collectively less sales than a weak Switch sales year eating the Switch 2's lunch?
The only reason I don't have a steam deck yet is because I already have a switch and getting one now would seem like a waste, or a duplicate. I haven't properly used my switch in years, and the steam deck seems almost a "too small" of an upgrade.
In fact, I'm awaiting the specs of the switch 2 to know if I'll get a deck or not.
why do low iq people think that successful corporations move according to what is happening in the present and not what they predict will happen 10+ years from now?
Nintendo can keep delaying it. They're releasing Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition next year and videoigr.net leaked that Wind Waker HD is coming to Switch
dude, like, sure theres *already* a bunch of emulators with 4 zillion games (that people skip over to play gameboy games lol) but THIS time itll be different!!
It's strategic.
Their diehard fans WILL buy it, regardless of when it will release, that way they will empty their stocks in one go, and they will avoid scalpers.
Scalpers can't really make stocks because the holidays are over, and they won't wait almost a whole year to spend it.
Diehard fans will sing their praises, as usual, and will push people to buy the console next Christmas.
I have a hacked switch and a deck and I use both for very different reasons. these days mostly just the deck. I think you're right to wait on the deck to see what the switch 2 is and then how valve responds but ultimately the use case for the switch will never really overlap with what makes the deck so good.
Nintendo recently hunting down emulators is possibly motivated by the possibility of Switch 2 games being just as easy to emulate.
Think the difference between GameCube and Wii being minimal enough that Dolphin emulator was updated to support Wii too.
That and Switch games being easy to emulate on devices competing with the Switch like ROG Ally or Steam Deck.
Nintendo really wants to avoid Switch 2 having rampant piracy again, they got really unlucky with the initial Tegra processors having that full hardware exploit that worked through RCM. Nvidia were fully at fault there.
Piracy shit is a small factor though compared to just selling hardware and games for it.
Announcing Switch 2 now would cut into Christmas sales, the larger market doesn't pay attention to rumors and speculation or think about future news.
They already confirmed Switch 2 is "backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch software" but that's open to interpretation, and doesn't confirm if Switch 1 games will actually perform better on Switch 2 or if they'll be locked to Switch 1 grade performance like 3DS games on New 3DS were.
In fact, I'm awaiting the specs of the switch 2 to know if I'll get a deck or not.
It will probably be about as fast as a Steam Deck in docked mode, and slower in handheld mode. It's going to use Ampere from 2020, while the Steam Deck uses RDNA2 also from 2020. They'll be very similar machines.
The only difference is that the Steam Deck can boost all the way to 15W and kill the battery in 90 minutes. I assume that Nintendo won't allow the device to boost anywhere near as high in handheld mode, only in docked mode.
Steam Deck 2 is probably just a few years away, my prediction is 2026. So, if you don't give a crap about Nintendo exclusives and all you want is a powerful handheld, you should probably wait.
you always conveniently ignore that the deck emulates switch games. its also the first time emulation has been made completely brain dead, just drop the rom in a folder and play every single console prior and partially including the ps3, the controls, emulator installation, updates are all handled automatically. besides that it gets every single new game release no matter how niche.
there is no argument you can make for why its a bad product or worse value than a switch, Nintendo is relying on ignorance to sell their hardware which is always unsustainable long term.
But Nintendo's concern is not the direct competition with PCs, but the fact that with the popularization of PCs, the whole PC culture inevitably comes, which is very unfavorable to Nintendo's strategies.
The Japanese have no genetic disposition that makes them naturally reject PCs. Things like the culture of emulation and modification are just less there than in the US because they tend to play video games on machines where these things are almost impossible. If PCs continue to grow in popularity, the gaming environment there will become less favorable to Nintendo (which wants closed environments where it controls the experience) and more favorable to, say, Steam, which is betting on the exact opposite (see how the Steam Deck is completely open to the user).
how does nintendo have so many cool unique IP's?
what can PC gaming learn from it
Trying to figure out to market an underpowered console that is probably still weaker than the average cellphone.
what can PC gaming learn from it
I guess that the western white guy pedophile demographic liked games too
I have a Steam Deck and a Switch. I tend to prefer my Ally X these days, but I only got it recently.
never really overlap with what makes the deck so good.
What makes the Deck good?
I have a good PC and I see the Steam Deck more as a luxury toy and find it hard to find any reason to use one.
I'm guessing a reveal winter 2025, with a release spring 2025.
incorrect
literally confirms what anon said right after
They already confirmed Switch 2 is "backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch software" but that's open to interpretation, and doesn't confirm if Switch 1 games will actually perform better on Switch 2 or if they'll be locked to Switch 1 grade performance like 3DS games on New 3DS were.
I can just about guarantee you that there will be no slot for Switch cartridges.
I hope Nintendo is ready with some games. It's been nearly an ENTIRE DECADE since they revealed Super Mario Odyssey and no new 3D Mario since then. This 'one game per generation' strategy doesn't really work well when the generations stretch out to eight fucking years.
duplicate
Are you high? Steamdeck and every other handheld of blow the switch away in every way. Not even comparable devices since you really can’t do shit with a switch besides play Nintendo games at blurry resolutions and 15 fps. It’s not even just Steamdeck though, every hand held pc is better than a switch in every way besides price.
Hell, I think, you can buy the low-end version of the Ally right now for like $250, and even the regular Z1 is better than the Switch.
They might do as with 3DS and GBA where the cartridge slots could be used for previous last gen games. I played DS games on my 3DS and GB games on my GBA. No problem.
I believe Nintendo is inspired by Disney and Weekly Shonen Jump in terms of creating long-lasting IPs.
I doubt that there will be a Switch 2 cartridge at all, that's the thing.
I can just about guarantee you that there will be no slot for Switch cartridges.
I doubt it. Nintendo's CEO wouldn't say that the new Switch will be compatible with old games when it won't be compatible with physical games, which are the majority of them.
Not only will the Switch 2 have a slot for “cartridges” (they're just SD cards), but it will be the same fucking slot as the Switch 1, the games will have the same format but probably some clever device to stop people sticking the new SD cards in the old Switch.
I think Nintendo is really scared of the huge Switch 1 library hurting sales of Switch 2. If Switch emulation was entirely accessible, then lots of casual people in this economy would just choose to emulate Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, rather than buying a Switch 2 for the sequels.
the huge Switch 1 library
?
Nintendo's CEO wouldn't say that the new Switch will be compatible with old games when it won't be compatible with physical games, which are the majority of them.
What makes you think that? He never said your library would be compatible he just said switch 2 would be able to play old switch games. The switch can play old Nintendo games, doesn’t mean it plays the old Nintendo games you own. Having fun paying a sub for Nintendo to let you play a few switch games every month like they do with old Nintendo games on switch.
Sony and Microsoft are certainly pushing for gaming going all-digital. I'm not sure if Nintendo is confident enough to do it yet. Japanese people especially love physical media. Some of them still buy CDs for their music.
Nearly every Nintendo IP series has a game on Switch. Only ones missing are tiny niches like Punch Out and Star Fox.
Switch 2 will offer sequels to those games. But why buy the sequels if you never played the originals?
I play VNs on it and other obscure Japanese games that I wouldn't touch on a desktop, I dont know how anyone reads a vn in an office chair. A portable 6th gen emulator, especially a ps2 emulator is still crazy to me, these games aren't complex enough for me to want to play them for extended periods on a couch or at a desk but in a handheld they are cool, they feel like modern, really high budget handheld games. its also a hedge against shitty demakes, I dont need to put up with garbage polish re-releases and can just access the source.
I got excited about VF5 coming to steam then downloaded it and am able to train while taking a shit, somehow it runs a ps3 game at 60fps and instead of feeling like a crusty 2006 ps3 game it looks like the one of the highest budget handheld games I've ever played. Every game is basically free if you want, niche indies that dont come out on other consoles are always available, free online multiplayer and a bunch of other minor QOL shit.
if you cant think of a use then dont get one, I have a thousand that the switch doesnt cover.
No they are not. Steam's monthly users eclipse Switch's ANNUAL users by at least 5 million. PC is by far the biggest threat Nintendo faces and frankly it's not something Nintendo can fight against. They're going to have to figure that out.
Because that's literally what Nintendo said publicly.
They said: “Switch games will be playable on Switch 2”.
But you, for some reason, interpreted: “physical Switch games will NOT be playable on Switch 2”, which is basically the opposite of what they said.
And look, Switch games are just SD cards, nothing more. You can buy a replacement for your Switch "game slot" for about $5 on the Internet, which already includes the guys' profit. It's stupidly cheap technology and there's zero reason for Nintendo not to include it. As I said, I think it'll be the same slot for old and new games, but Nintendo will add something to the shape of the new games so that people don't insert it into the old Switch by mistake.
I hope so.
Nintendo must have encountered some serious trouble for the release to have taken this long. Are their core games all in development hell? Is the hardware just not powerful enough to encourage an upgrade from the consumer? Are they afraid they can't create a succes again?
Nintendo's CEO wouldn't say that the new Switch will be compatible with old games when it won't be compatible with physical games
Why wouldn't he?
That CEO guy really fucked up not being more precise in his statement about backwards compatibility. Who knows what it means. Hopefully, he was not being deliberately vague to hide bad news.
They said: “Switch games will be playable on Switch 2”.
And they would be. Every Switch game is available digitally. All of the "pack-in" games for Switch consoles have been digital. They never said anything about supporting your cartridges. Nintendo is one of the shiftiest, jewiest companies in the business, you don't think that they are looking to cut out retail overhead?
Oh, your physical copy of Animal Crossing isn't playable on the Switch 2?
That'll be $60 for a digital copy, goyjin.
Israel ran out of anti piracy devices because of their other pager project.
What'd he say?
If nintendo thinks they can get away with not having bc, they will absolutely do that so they can easily remarket and resell old nintendo games all over again.
Cartridge slots costs 20 cents. They can have 10 and it wont affect their bottom line
Nintendo is one of the shiftiest, jewiest companies in the business, you don't think that they are looking to cut out retail overhead?
You said the same when you were screaming it won't have BC for the past few years. Now that you got proven wrong you spin new narrative to doompost
Why bother when the switch 1 is still selling like hotcakes?
The Switch is selling half of what the PS5 is selling and most switch owners don't even use it anymore.
and ps5 is selling like shit compared to the ps4 at this point in its lifecycle.
The switch is still the top selling console in Asia
By far the biggest advantages of the deck have nothing to do with specs. It's how open of a device it is, how consumer friendly it is, how many games it has, and how affordable those games are. The switch 2 will likely only be about deck level as well. If deck specs aren't enough of an upgrade, you should wait for the deck 2.
January reveal, March release. Trust the plan.
Switch 2? More like Switch to an emulator to get a proper resolution and framerate
Switch is kinda weak nowadays. But I'm not sure I'd ask for much more.
New chip stuff is so expensive and Nintendo battery life hasn't been good since the DSlite.
The Switch has been out for 8 years and there's only 3 exclusive games I like it on it, and 2 of those are wii u ports. I don't think I will be purchasing the switch 2.
why do you want more consoles to come out? I don't wanna buy and store yet more junk just to keep my library accessible
I just want Splatoon on PC, man
I'll get one for the inevitable 3D Zelda but I honestly have barely touched my Switch ever since I got the Deck
It's afraid
