GTA V story was just stringing to together a bunch of heists. Would have been interesting if Franklin had more stuff to do in the hood and Trevor in red neck country but apart from a a handful of missions, they all got drawn into Michaels bullshit.

RDR2 had more of that than GTA5 so we might get a bigger focus on that. People just remember the egregious examples of being railroaded in that game and I don’t blame them, but it was there.

I think the expanding map will only be available for Online. While there's a chance of single player expansion pack later down the line a la GTA 4 I'm not holding my breath.

I think I realized a couple parts of the trailer that are gameplay footage. The part where Jason is driving a motorcycle and a plane is above him. Pretty positive that’s just cinematic driving angle. GTA has always looked better from those angles.

A surprise character taking over at the end is more of a Red Dead thing, it usually works out for GTA characters. 5 had multiple endings but there was a clear best ending that had no special requirements to meet.

The 'conspiracy' part in the synopsis is interesting. I guess the protags aren't dealing with one or two corrupt law enforcement higher-ups that pester them the whole game like in previous games (Steve Haines, Tenpenny), but an entire system. The core of GTAO's issues is it was built on a game that wasn't prepared for what it became. The loading screens to this day are still a nightmare to deal with. That's why RDR2's multiplayer feels so good. You go in and out of the open world and a mission so seamlessly compared to GTAO. I've also heard how modular the map is now. They'll be able to add and change things much easier. Then there's the whole built in FiveM shit, but that might be more of a nightmare than anything.

I dont care for anything but 1 thing and 1 thing only: NPC density. If they manage to have the ammount of people they showed in the trailer, I would fucking kneel. Now, that sounds PRETTY hard. But if they focus more NPCs on certain "hubs" like bars/restaurants, parks, etc. I think it would work

My main problem with Rockstar Games is the lack of meaningful interactivity in their open worlds. They waste an absurd amount of money into crafting beautiful maps, scripting NPC routines, making npcs fart after eating a can of beans or mud realistically clinging to your clothes. But the only purpose of those features is to impress midwits or be shown in the newest GTA V vs UBISOFT SLOP Youtube Video.
What Rockstar really needs is a proper law system and replayability, one of my memories with RDR2 is losing a mission after i tried to flank some guys shooting at us instead of sitting in a rock next to Dutch, they should make missions where i have to kill X and i GET to choose how to do that, let me be smart with the tools you give me, no more follow the yellow Dot in your map and enter buildings that are closed permanently after the mission its over.

But being realistic i know they will make a dogshit dramatic linear story and a gorillion Dlcs for GTA VI online, i also expect tons of cuckoldry.

From the beginning of the trailer, it seems that way since Jason gets haggled by an old man while he's repairing the roof of presumably the same safe house he and Lucia will be sharing.

core gameplay boils down to an overengineered, overbudgeted shooting range and thats saying something since the game doesnt even expand on this in meaningful ways (different reactions, different cover styles, NPC enemies/allies change positions/strategy based on your decisions/context, etc etc)

I have a sinking feeling that body variation won't even exist in the game (by exercise, eating, or otherwise). Lucia for example, it seems like her physique is part of her character and they might not want the player making her all skinny through gameplay. To elaborate, given a normal picture, you'd "mark" an area and tell the AI to only generate over the marked place. The result is the same image with an edit on top. It could even be reversed and make Jason more clothed if it was prompted to.

Adobe has image generation but it obviously won't strip Jason's trousers off. Most people use a local model like Stable Diffusion. You can just google this and it will show you how to set it up.

No, inpainting requires an existing picture and you placing the edits on top of it. Either you'd have to train an AI with Jason pics to generate a forward facing picture from scratch or just find an existing picture of Jason facing forward then inpaint that

You know what i liked about Saint's Row that I wished Rockstar would have ripped off better? The whole homies thing, they kind of did in GTAIV and V, but not really as fun.
In Saint Row it was more random and over the top with the type of people you call to hang out and do missions, even if they didn't talk much.

If instead the awkwardness is more driven by the fact that they don't know how much the other has changed and the dates you go on are about determining the new nature of each character post-jail you can start going down multiple routes with their relationship where they're either this hot power couple or they're starting to slide more into the stereotypical co-abusive/co-dependent relationship you see with criminals.

Night City, even after all the 'comeback' updates, feels very linear and soulless, the NPCs being basically non-responsive models that don't do anything is a big part of that. It really is all the little details which get mocked all the time, that make one open world feel more immersive, better put together than the other.

A lot of GTA5's problems with its story and content is that it too often devolved into low hanging fruit gags about Facebook or Hollywood and just set up something wacky for the player to do. You arguably could've done something interesting with how much gangbanging has changed between the early 90s setting of San Andreas and the 2013 after all the crackdowns but instead it's just some weird thing that occasionally pops up cause Lamar is doing something wacky in-between whatever Michael and Trevor are dealing with at the time.

Without ready-to-use material I hope GTAVI can focus more on an actual original content both for drama and for comedy rather than "lmao Facebook lmao yoga." Of course it could all just end up Florida man shit.

I'm going to try to keep my expectations low. It'll be a highly polished but superficial shooting gallery game with some new gimmick features thrown in like the special abilities were in V but ultimately be 90% the same game and still play worse than Max Payne 3.

In all likelihood, this started development in March 2020 after Dan Houser left which means the game's scope will be the best $2 billion and 5 years can buy but it's still gotta run on XSS.

The best case scenario is Rockstar makes Online "Project Americas" and adds in two new cities over the next 10 years so it feels like a new game.
