Even on the BS "Switch 2 editions" they are adding some extra missions or game modes, instead of just the graphical update.

Something about the N64, it wasn't like the previous generation, that was schoolyard fights tier, the 5th generation? That was a battle for the mind. Nintendo knew they had no option but to call upon the dark spirits of esoteric autism to craft unholy digital artifacts that brought rapture to the disillusioned.
The result? An entire generation of children that didn't grow up, and some how managed to pass down the disillusionment.

Smash did it perfectly. Released a complete game. Added a new character every few months with a stage, some music, and challenges to try out, for $6.
If you did not buy them, you could still play against them online and would still play on those stages online.
Mario Kart doubled the size of the game with DLC that cost half the price of the game. These two are bad examples of "DLC done wrong."

Other games go on sale after at most a few months, often sooner. There's no reason to pay $80 for something that will be $20 before I even bother to install it. Meanwhile, a Nintendo game will never go on sale, and often times will go out of print, making it MORE expensive. You're better off buying it at launch if you have any intention to eventually play it.

How do you feel about a PC game like Dota 2, where every hero is free and will always be free and the game itself is free. Playing the game online is also free, unlike Nintendo's service. Are you willing to concede that Valve>Nintendo? It is objectively a better model for customers.

you may say all that, but the monetisation still on point. even if foamstar went the pedo route like some fate gacha or something, it would have the microtransactions and sell you the kid thongs for 30 dollars

Which game had a DLC released that was like a new game but at half the price? Perhaps you are mistaking that for what happened with tears of the kingdom? It was 50% more game built on top of the original except it was full price and a separate game, not a DLC. Easy mistake.

I have always owned a PC and Nintendo since 1990. Steam licensing games never sat well with me so I pirated everything. I prefer to buy games that do not require internet access to function. I love Half-Life, GMOD, Portal, etc., but have the .exes on my PC without Steam. I like that my Nintendo games work without Internet and I can put them in the cabinet next to my 35 years of games stashed away. I don't think paying for Internet access justifies much, but luckily you can still buy your games and play them like you always have regardless. I am not the target audience for social games and always online stuff. Nintendo Online is a laggy mess. Playing as Kazuya vs Snake offline at 60fps with my friends? Great stuff.

It was either $25, or 'free' as long as you had a Nintendo Online Subscription active. If you already played Animal Crossing and Splatoon, that value was clear, because their DLC was also free to Nintendo Online members.
Nintendo games actually come complete, and anything added after the fact actually is an extra instead of being an "extra".
There's also the fact that most dangerous bugs have been pruned by the time said Nintendo game comes out.
