Ok the "Switch 2" label doesn't look that bad on the physical boxes.

Agreed, only the switch 1 ports suck
Still way too much empty space. Don't like it.
Nah, they look pretty shit.
looks great. DK will probably be the first physical game in my S2 collection
Are they going to at least bring back manuals if they're going to kike me for $90?
They look really good. What don't you like about them?
WOW an empty plastic case with a code in it! i love physical games
The top banner is too fucking thick. The logo is crunched to hell, and there's tons of dead space.
HahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *spits out coke zero* LMFAOOOOOO
They just took the old box and stretched the banner across the whole width of it without adjusting the logo in any meaningful way.
It looks cheap and lazy.
for me, it’s the color discrepancy
non loli cover of Donkey Kong Bananza
no thanks
looks fine
It just looks like the ps3 greatest hits collection
That'll be $89.99 US Dollars + tax + tip + Shigeru Miyamoto comes to your house and kicks your dog
They always make the greatest hits boxes look so gross.
What is the point of buying physical games?
I'm not coming at this as a hater or an anti or what I have 350 physical games. But I'm asking myself why I keep buying them? I just do it because I always have. You buy games and you put the disc in. That's just what you do.
But games get updated all the time, I can't think of one PS4 game I have that doesn't have a patch. Stuff is added to them... Like it's clear what it ships with isn't the end version. And eventually the online service will shutter, but you'll still have that beta version to do... what, exactly? It's probably not enjoyable to play. Hell people didn't even wait for PS3 to go offline to hack and have all the updates and games and everything.
So why is physical so important, now? I realized I don't actually have an answer, I was just doing what I've always done.
the red plastic makes it look thicker than it really is on the renders
but in the actual photos the plastic looks different enough that the label looks fine
original
Doesn’t matter how the boxes look. The cartridges are glorified DRM anyway.
*slurps up the coke zero residue*
he still thinks this is true
Is this a fucking joke? We're launching the system with some monkey game instead of a 3d Mario? Oh boy this is going to flop hard
some monkey
take it back
looks better in person but some of the mock ups still look better
MONKEY
I love the wraparound spines. The uniformity of the switch cases has its appeal, but once you start to amass a lot of them it kinda turns into an amorphous blob of red that doesn’t look very good.
Hopefully these will look nicer on my shelf with some differentiating art. Praying to God that they don’t do the Sony thing where they don’t enforce standards on styling that results in some games looking totally different
yuck too saturated red color
Yeah I’m glad they’re doing away with the overwhelming amounts of it for Switch 2
I think it's effective. The different layout, distinct logo and red box means Grandma has multiple ways to tell this shit apart from Switch 1 games when buying Christmas presents for little Timmy.
The uniformity of the switch cases has its appeal
I find it really stylish. But also less practical.
Like I'm literate and have good vision and everything. But I still need to read the backs to discern what game is what and since the text is so small it's not like I can read it from too far away.
But with wrapped around art it's super easy to tell at a glance even from the opposite end of the room what game is what.
steamtranny falseflag
physical games are kind of like trophies
is it cool to have physical copies of good games you like?
I guess
is it actually useful?
can I even play gene wars, dungeon keeper 1, 2, LBA 1 2, C&C Renegade, Freelancer, NWN 1 2, Swat 4, on my curret windows without some patch?
Probably not, and this is coming from few remaining people that still has a DVD tray on their PC case, when rest of the people are getting rid of theirs/buying cases that you can't have DVD slot on it.
It's probably easier to Japs since they have vertical text and don't need to tilt their heads.
You can do vertical text on english too what are you talking about
That should help I guess. But at the same time, don't the Japanese struggle more with tiny fonts?
custom side
Noice
Doesn't this allow the cover art to be completely unobscured? Before, parts of the art would have been covered by the "Nintendo Switch" box.
I guess so but the empty space still bothers me, like nothing would be lost if they just made the banner fill up with NINTENDO SWITCH 2 with the logo where it usually was. But that's my own tism about all the empty fucking space.
I really just wish they'd done anything with the logo instead of just add a fucking 2.
They added a letter last time and it didn't work out so they are trying a number.
looks great and I cannot wait to have a stack of games to play
But none of the English boxes do. If it's Kanji sure, not so much with Katakana/Hiragana.
