Overrated

It would've been a lot better if Terra was the main character instead of giving everyone equal spotlight.

If this game is overrated, all games are.

Nah, 7 actually deserves the praise, unlike this overrated mess

7 actually deserves the praise

As if it didn't get the praise, FF7 is the most popular FF ever

Exactly, 7 deserves the praise it gets, unlike 6.

True.
Not the issue, it needed actual plot during WoR

Having like 16 party members was a mistake. It leads to some of them being useless, and not getting equal spotlight. It should have just been Terra, Locke, Celes, Cyan, Edgar, Setzer and Shadow. The rest are filler members who are completely pointless.

Also, I find it rich that people shit on 8 for being unbalanced when 6 is arguably even worse on the balancing front.

I think it's impressive to make a lot of them interesting despite being so numerous, but yeah, if they went for 8-10 main characters it would've been even better

Just come out of nowhere when nobody is talking about a game and say its Overrated for no reason, just to be a shitdisturber.
You know whats really overrated? Every Zelda entry.

FF6 faggot so assblasted it tries to derail

You know whats really overrated? Every Zelda entry.

and you dare to call others "shitdisturbers"???

Then answer to

I really enjoy the multi party dungeons though, and the final boss swapping in characters between phases if someone is down. I like the novelty.
FF games always have a handful of extra and unnecessary characters. It's fine as long as they're fun, and guys like Gau and Mog are kino.

I don't get your point, no one talk or praise FF6 compared to FF7, how can it be overrated, when it was released no one gave a fuck about that game

Yeah there's a character bloat for sure. Should have trimmed a few.

Uh oh, that got some attention. I guess tendies don’t like when when the shoe is on the other foot.
You’re damn right zelda is overrated. For example, no one gives a single fuck about zelda if they aren’t part of the tendie clut.

TRVTH NUKE

VI >>>>>>>>>> IV

For example, no one gives a single fuck about zelda if they aren’t part of the tendie clut.

Zelda 1 was already praised and popular as fuck in 1986, you think the tendie cult was created that far away?

FF6 is garbage for niggers

yeah, FF4 really is so pompeous and so up its ass looks like a libtard wrote the script or something

The plot is gather your buddies and kick kefka’s ass. Its pretty straight forward, with a bit more background story for every character as you find them. Which is exactly what everyone who enjoyed the characters wanted.

Think its better than IX

You have shit taste.

Will we ever get a remake?

Talking like that might summon the jannies, use your head.

Yeah, IX just sucks.

I hope not, it would be a disaster.

My issue with 4 is how the party handles Kain flip flopping and the contrived ways to get people off the team, especially Cid.

OBJECTIVE RANKING
X > VI > VII > Everything else

what the fuck? what do you not like on ff 9? this game talked masterfully about deep philosophical shit meanwhile ff7 was like "olol cloud dressed like a girl lol"

Yoshitaka Amano is such a shit artist the sprite makers purposely ignored his designs and did them differently

It's a bit unfocused with all the characters going in different directions after WoR. I feel like 6 got a lot of credit and praise for being one of the first JRPGs that many, many westerners played. I had a lot more fun in a lot less time with Lunar.

this game talked masterfully about deep philosophical

Only Vivi.
Cloud >>>>>>>>>> Zidane.

X > VI > VII > Everything else

I accept that, FFX's the goat, but I would add XIII-2 and XIII-3 to that list :3

Okay, I’ll add Mog to the list of potential Party members who should have been there, since having the game’s narrator become a playable member is pure soul.

6 and 7 are both overrated in their own ways. 7 is largely championed for being the first 3D entry and the game that basically set the standard for what a 3D JRPG should be. It hasn’t aged well though. 6 gets praised for being the “darkest” and most “mature” entry, when that’s really not the case in actuality, since the writing is still pretty juvenile and the only edgy part is the stuff Kefka does (which all gets undone with a Disney-esque happy ending upon his defeat anyway).

I feel these entries are overrated compared to more underrated gems like 5, 8 and 12.

IX got more popular in recent years so Anon Babble need to hate on it now
Will probably get even worse soon

Did millennials become part of the tendie cult during nes?

Yes. Of course they did. It starts during childhood. Its the reason they are the way they are now.

Only Vivi.

not all characters are supposed to have a dark story, just one is enough, VIVI'S THE GOAT THOUGH

Shut up nigger

The remake will fix it (cut into 4 parts)

Ff4 and ff5 are two games where the party FAILs in every single thing they set out to do. Until beating the last boss. Kind of irritating once you notice.

only 20 years from now

7 is the overrated one, dumb zoomer.

The plot is gather your buddies and kick kefka’s ass

You can skip this

with a bit more background story for every character as you find them.

Ass Effect 2 level story telling

Which is exactly what everyone who enjoyed the characters wanted.

Would have preferred an actual story in my story driven JRPG

implying there'd anything to enjoy about 1 note job representatives

gems like 5, 8 and 12.

FF12 could've been so much better if we didn't have to play as fucking no name kids as MC's, what were they thinking???

It's frustratingly stupid how "people" who weren't around for SNES talk about which SNES games were under and overrated. You aren't in a position to tell.

7

One of the most complex and interesting protagonists in JRPG history.

copies the most from FF6

You sound soulless. Not unexpected from a ff6 hater.

you can only talk about thing if you played it back in the day

Why?

A lot of shit you like now wouldn't exist without it, zoomer.

I kind of liked that the MC is a lowly thief/ street urchin. I love me an underdog rags to riches story.

this, I would even say it's better to get opinions from people who played FF6 when they were adults, the nostalgia bias doesn't exist in this case

Because you have zero historical perspective and your understanding of video games is built on the terrible modern standards, where games even aren't video games anymore but heavily casualized and monetized movies.

nostalgia bias doesn't exist

... but I'll blissfully ignore all the other biases in the world and all the other possible factors that cause a person to misjudge things

Dumb zoomer.

I'll blissfully ignore all the other biases

such as?

Everything you do and judge is affected by your preconceived opinions and standards. Everything.

assuming people who live in the modern era only play modern games

NIGGER

Are these the same fucking comments from last thread or am I going mad from seeing the same threads over and over?

Just remake FF6 like SoP. No filler overworld, instead of Jobs you switch between available characters, and there's further customization through Espers. It wouldn't have a bonkers-but-kino story, but the gameplay would be good enough.
FF6 absolutely DOES NOT need the terrible 7R treatment.

No argument

Thought so, faggot. Sorry your game is overrated garbage I didn't even deign fit to finish.

Too bad, they already said no one wants to play straight remakes so it'd take them 20 years to split FF6 out into 4 games.

he didn't finish the game

but he thinks he can judge its entirety anyways

fucking clown

Final boss has elemental weaknesses/strengths

You can just skip all of that with Ultima

?

Can't think of a final boss in the series where you have to care about elemental shit. Usually beating on them with physicals is the way to go, 6 included.

6 has many questionable balancing decisions:

game subtly pushes you towards making everyone a magic build because magic is just objectively superior to physical and the Esper system means that party members have no unique traits beyond their special ability.

Said Special abilities range from being gamebreakingly overpowered (Setzer’s, Shadow’s, Edgar’s etc.) to useless (Gau’s, Mog’s etc.) depending on the character.

the vanish + doom glitch in earlier versions of the game allows you to one shot everything in the game (bosses included)

Genji Glove is also busted

I’ve already said this, but it’s probably the worst balanced FF out there apart from 2.

I dropped in mid-WoR. Game sucks ass. Cope.

Gau

not consistently one of the best party members in the game

this game talked masterfully about deep philosophical shit

lmao baby's first existential crisis
You are a sub-80 IQ brownoid. Read a fucking book.

I'm currently playing FF5 and it also seems to privilege magic above physical. And the characters have no unique traits: it's a system of interchangeable jobs and abilities that everyone can use.

Magic should always beat physical because it costs a resource. If physical was better damage AND free then it would make magic useless.

true, characters all over the place

I disagree. I think it's really good.

You played the pixel remaster. You aren't allowed to have an opinion.

If the cost for having a Final Fantasy 6 thread is for it to be a bait thread then Id rather have another Final Fantasy 7 thread.

Shut up.png - 480x640, 233.02K

Gau

Mog

useless special abilities

completely and absolutely filtered

gau is broken with his cat scratch shit and mog just dumbed down geomancer

Locke does more damage than anyone in the game with valiant blade, ultima weapon and master scroll + genji, like 80k damage. Also dragoons can do like 40k + holy damage per turn, not bad. That aside, even if magic damage were hands down better, that wouldn't be inconsistent with the game's theme. Shadow's shurikens are not overpowered, neither are Setzer's slots. Gau's rages are NOT useless if you know what to use and Mog's dances aren't useless either, just not great.

valiant blade, ultima weapon

Holy fucking retard.
