how so? wouldnt this be more of a software stack problem, so if you have any king of a file recovery software you can recover it, regardless of the OS

That's why I always rotate which slot I'm saving in. Slot 1 > Slot 2 > Slot 3 > Slot 1, etc. That way if something ever happens to my current I still have a recent backup.

I did this once in Oblivion when I was younger. I had about 200 hours in a knight character and I wanted to start an alternate assassin run, but I fucked up and overwrote my save. Now I only ever maintain one save file at a time because I know I'll just do it again when I'm not paying attention.
