NEXON DID THE IMPOSSIBLE
What are good classes to play that won't be the metaslave classes that have extremely expensive gear?
anything pirate if they're in
otherwise nothing, get fucked
Thats pretty cool, we'll see if they ruin it with hp washing
Nigger, put Maplestory in the OP next time. I searched Maple and saw 0 results and was just about to make a thread about this until I saw this on the catalog.
No way are they bringing Pirates in the beginning besides dexless sins are going to be the most popular class (again). Page/Paladin is going to be completely dead. Nobody is going to play anything but Dragon/Dark Knight for the warrior class types. Bandits might be rare too, Crossbowmen are going to also be rare as fuck. Clerics I think are going to be very common but that depends. Sins are most likely going to dominate and their gear will be super expensive. Your best bet is to play the classes nobody plays if you want an easy ride and cheap gear to make it into the high levels.
The footage showed that they're basing on a very early version of the game and there wasn't a single pirate in sight either.
yeah it's over then
play a meta class or play GARBAGE
It's not garbage, the difference in dps isn't that much. You are going to be grinding anyway so may as well play a class that isn't meta and have fun with cheap gear. Besides Fire/Poison is going to level the fastest anyway
pre-bigbang MS
endless mob grind mmo where it takes hours of grinding to get 1 level up
genuinely what is the appeal
friends poopsocking all week, you poopsock maybe half the week
instead of being 10 levels ahead of you and you can't play together he is now 2 levels ahead of you and you can grind together
The appeal to slow leveling is people are typically in the same progression window. Where did this meme of slow progression being bad start? 2009? It had to be after 3rd worlders were allowed internet access with smartphones because everyone was just fine with it in the 2000s and people seem to be begging for it to return.
hours and hours of mindless repetitive grinding is le good because uhhhhhhh friends?
what
nostalgia baiting for nostalgiakeks that will inevitably die off because of it's nostalgia-flaws
Why do people lap this shit up?
Slow progression is fine; my problem with MS is that the gameplay is incredibly boring and gets stale fast. Quests are so few and far between that 95% of your leveling is just mob grinding.
I never got past level 35 in ~2006 maplestory because it was just so fucking grindy and I dropped it when I realized that there's nothing more to the game other than that.
For me it was just the collecting rare/silly items and the social aspect. I rarely got higher then level 30
Nexon
Honestly, Page branch is dogshit. Please, don't play it. At least the Crossbowman branch gets Sharp Eyes in 4th. You're stuck at Ludi as a WK until Leafre comes out. Everyone will move to Aqua Road and you'll be stuck in the same place for an additional 6~12 months.
It's either you dig the monster grind and killing 10k of the same monster in a single day and still need 2~3 more days to level or you don't. Some people like grinding monsters like that, you don't, and that's fine. Maple just isn't for you.
checked
From the way they talk about this being a reimagining of old school MS rather than a straight port there's a chance there might be some rebalancing to make the weaker classes better.
Might just be wishful thinking though.
Wishful thinking, archers are destined to have a hot trash 3rd job.
Archer 3rd job isn't even that bad. They're one of the few classes that feels like it actually gets to use their entire toolkit.
pizard
modern MS
endless daily chore where it still takes hours to get 1 level up from grinding
except now every class vomits out shitty blinding multicolor effects that hit the entire map and millions of lines of damage on the screen and there's almost no difference between classes besides what color of diarrhea they spray on the screen
Genuinely what is the appeal
Any hardcore contrarians going to main beginner all the way to 200?
will this be like a temporary thing or are they keeping the classic server?
Grinding coolie zombies for 10% an hour
If you can even find a map otherwise shit mobs in ludi for 7% an hour
I'm not in 8th grade anymore I just don't have the time.
I assume it'll be a progression server and not just victoria island forever
Bandits were pretty cool pre-BB. I powerleveled the shit out of my CB from selling bigfoot leeches.
Fuck no, even the OG perma beginners basically got leeched almost all the way through as a dick measuring contest because it was so miserable and unfun.
They get to use their whole tool kit, but they are horrendously under powered.
Is it really though? I mean it cant be THAT major of a dps difference.
It's a pretty big difference. Archers are a balanced class in a game where the other ranged options are overpowered.
A few might, but as the other anon said it'll probably just be via leeching. This isn't like ragnarok online where permanent novices actually get unique skill builds or cool mechanics. You're basically just a warrior who only attacks 1 monster at a time forever. It's really boring.
That's just like Path of Exile, and it's a good thing.
Bro just discovered... Life.
dexless sins were an extremely overrated meme, their main strength was that they had a consistent power curve in a game where you could spend months in the same job tier before getting new skills. bowmasters and corsairs outdamaged them with equivalent gear, but bowmasters had a garbage 2nd job and corsairs were practically unplayable until 4th
page/paladin is absolutely going to be dead if they have retardedly low numbers again, but they're still strong in their niche and can reliably level with elemental weakness abuse in 3rd job and HH in 4th.
dark knight was only popular because of hyper body, otherwise hero was a better warrior
bandits/shadowers were "good" but only if you didn't mind sitting and spamming meso explosion along with dumping all of your money for okay damage
crossbowmen were good but they weren't bowmasters and they didn't scale as well (snipe/strafe vs hurricane was increasingly in hurricane's favor the stronger the player became)
clerics are absolutely going to be common as fuck unless holy symbol is nerfed or removed from the game
sins will be popular because of weebs and their gear will be expensive, but see above statement regarding their performance; they aren't going to dominate outside of a "this whale dumped more into his class than another whale dumped into his" situation.
the problem with playing classes nobody plays is that the supply of gear and scrolls with be absolutely dogshit as people would rather drop the items onto the floor than spend several hours shouting to find some dumb fuck to sell a blunt weapon scroll to; if you were lucky someone might have made a forum listing for various items using basilmarket.
if you want an easy ride and "cheap" gear, play anything that can reasonably solo on its own like a warrior. paladins had dogshit numbers but they had a cheap and smooth leveling experience because they practically took chip damage compared to every other class, even other warriors.
We going Broa Anon Babble?
No Bucc/Corsair
yeah its joever DK/Bishop/Sin meta forever
I wish i could try this game for the first time but apparently i've been such a bad person i prebanned. I have never played maple story and my steam account was somehow banned. I just tried DFO instead
Nah, Windia.
Didn't they do this already?
I never actually made it to high level in OSMS, I think I maded it to like level 45. I spent most of my time just exploring and completing quests instead of actually trying to level up.
Every server is the same, luk gear is going to be insane followed by str with dex gear being free. Also play something with a GOOD party buff. Parties are going to come down to SI/SE/HB/HS/Haste and probably the biggest pumper you can find.
This was modern maplestory but with better droprates and no trading. So you don't have to deal with the absolutely fucked economy anymore but you have to find all your equipment yourself.
The Classic Server that's coming out later this year or early next year is meant to be like old mid 2000s MS but "reimagined and with modern QOL improvements".
Bucc/corsair didn't even change anything though. SI was a nice to have but completely changed how compositions were made
I'm personally hoping we progress through the patches to right around pre-cubes. Would prefer we only stick to explorers, but if they stopped at Aran and skipped Evan/DB I think that would be okay too. This would leave us with PB/CZAK/CHT as end game and that's fine by me.
I also wouldn't mind ending at Chaos, but I'm assuming most people are trying to avoid cubes and that's cool. I just believe LHC was peak Maple, made too many friends and too many people mad hanging off a rope.
I'm glad we've established maplestory was always shit, except now the bosses do things other than damage reflect
The game was ruined as soon as the classes that maxed at level 120 were introduced.
