Second, "Getting overruled by unconscious signals" is not at all what hypnosis is. Hypnosis is hyperfocus; the flow state when applied to following instructions. Weird things are happening in the conscious brain during hypnosis, but it only works because the conscious brain is in control.

This is good if you want to try getting hypnotized. The induction works better on people who are more detached/skeptical than the typical pocket watch, candle flame, ect inductions, and has nothing kinky in it, just dropping you down into trance then snapping you awake.

Same reason why you can never see body swap or possesion abilities in-game besides maybe a mini-game at a certain section (unless the game is a porn game), not only is it too broken, it defeats the point of doing or acquiring damage sources when you can just goo all mind-cracker and make the boss effectively lose the fight at turn 1. It also breaks narratives because any of the characters having any such abilities, even hypnosis, or massive hypnosis, means that they, most of the time, should be able to just rush the big bad boss place and win instead of going through a journey with many detours to find a way to win. But they already have it, why are we trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
TLDR; The abilities make you question why do you even bother to play any longer, that's a no-no. Therefore, the game doesn't let you have it if it can by just not adding it or making it almost a meme in terms of how bad it is.

But you did say you have trouble going under, so that may not work until you have more practice. You really have to go into it with the right mindset, follow every suggestion without questioning it, and put your full effort into imagining all the things she describes. She does really good explanations of what's in the videos and what she'll hypnotize you to do before the video starts, but obviously turning off the critical part of your brain is still very hard when you're doing something so vulnerable, so it helped me to watch through the videos first without trying to get hypnotized, then letting myself go under when listening to them later.

Allegedly fractionation is the best kind of hypnosis for practice and learning the skills you need to be hypnotized, but the videos she did on that and other beginner stuff are older and have lower quality audio. I haven't used them myself so I can't vouch for them like the mystifying induction.

You could make it a stunning status. Not only do you have to have a character hypnotize the enemy, it has to succeed against their ability to resist, and once they go under, they can snap out of it if they take damage or the hypnotist stops or is interrupted. This would be useful in cases where there are multiple enemies, and you can dedicate one character to stalling the most powerful one until the small ones are down. You can also use it to stall for healing.

Another option is hypnotizing your allies rather than your opponent. At the cost of their flexibility, you could make them resistant/immune to other mind effecting statuses, and give a boost to their stats from their heightened focus.

Not even that, all hypnosis is at some level self hypnosis. It depends on your focus and submission to instructions. You can only be hypnotized when you are putting an active effort in, and know what you're doing. (Normally because your hypnotist is telling you what you should be doing.)

Yeah, that the secret stage magicians and Hollywood doesn't want you to know. There is no mysticism to hypnosis, no magic or secret power. It's literally just hyperfocus + following orders. It's no more special than the tetris effect or highway hypnosis. It still can feel really nice and create some surprising sensations. It takes a lot of work, but some stuff like hypnosis causing memory loss or post hypnotic suggestions really work too. They're just a lot weaker than movies make them out to be, and again, you have to work with your hypnotist to make them happen.

You should try to meet people who are already hypnotists and ask them. Learn as much as you can about it and experience getting deeply hypnotized yourself. Then practice like your life depends on it.

Remember thought that success in hypnosis depends on your subject. You cannot hypnotize someone who's resisting or conflicted, and the more difficult what you're trying to hypnotize them to do, the more true that is. Also, your results will be temporary unless you continue to rehypnotize and reinforce the suggestions, again with your subject's compliance and effort.
