Main issue about discussing this game is that it's a pretty long story game with a bunch of endings, so there's probably people who are trying to avoid spoilers until they've gotten enough endings.

I would say Hundred Line is essentially Kodaka unleashed with no publisher telling him what is a good idea or a bad idea.

Hundred Line is likely going to be the longest game of Kodaka's career since even the prologue is almost as long as a Danganronpa game and branches start pretty quickly once you start the actual game and stuff starts to deviate pretty quick so it isn't like you are just reading the same stuff.

I find DR1 to be the most grounded, you have your goofy character designs but they're not so on the nose like the rest of the series. You play normally and get dripfeed information every now and then, it's not until late game where you discover everything behind the killing games and the build up pays off. There are some badly written plot points and characters moments but most of the game is great. DR2 and DRV3 are "teenager obsessed with murderers tier" but still great if you already accepted that japanese games are made for braindead people

I dunno, DR3 and ZTD were obviously shit (although ZTD was bad in a really entertaining way, imo) but they then went on to write V3 and Somnium Files after that and those games were good. I think they’re just really hit-or-miss instead of on a downward trajectory.

Honestly, just try it in JP and see how it goes. You might do better than you expect, and it will accelerate your learning since you now have a strong incentive/feedback system in place.

I think I might have found hers, but I still need to go back to it. After telling the squad about the future, I sacrificed second to last defense academy and that saves Darumi from dying (but everyone from 2nd dies besides Nozomi). Everyone hates Takumi for his decision but Darumi goes to talk to him alone and has a pretty sweet conversation with him where she says she was going to just let the enemy commander kill her (perma because she'll absorb their hemoanima) but he saved her and that she's happy to be alive. I really liked that she said 'without positive reinforcement you'd end up like me. You did something good'. It's cute and surprising.
