turn based gayshit
How can we destroy this cancer killing video games?
This game would be 200% better with nornal combat.

Turn-based combat adds depth and strategic layer. What we should be getting rid of is parry mechanics.
Why do zoomers hate turn based combat?
spam attack 90% of the time
low health? use healing potion/spell
low mp? use mana potion
enemy has a weakness? use a spell that targets that weakness
enemy too strong/evasive/defensive? use buffs/debuffs
Wow, mucho think
this
and what would normal combat look like in comparison
Zoomers will cry about turn BASED but refuse to buy FF16, FF7R, Kingdom Hearts 3 and every other major action rpg in the last 20 years. Maybe you just don't like video games.
Idk how exactly to define it, but probably something that challenges your reflexes and spatial skills better than the average 4niar slop
Regardless, my point is most Jarpigs are tactically shallow as fuck, and the fact that fags here jerk themselves off for having played them is hilarious
My shit opinions are facts because my mom told me i am special too many times.
It's barely even turn based combat. It revolves entirely around QTEs
It wouldn't, most games would though. Turn based combat is better for low budget or inexperienced teams, it allows for grand scale in other areas because it's easy to do. What doesn't make any sense are very large budget games with turn based combat or jrpgs with a very small scale since they are not leveraging the 1 thing turn based combat gives you in return for being shitty but easy to implement
As a zoomer ,I love turn based rpgs and full hearty believe they deserve to exist. its just that there is people who aren't into something, thinking they need to say their opinion as if its facts or something.
This game would be 200% better with nornal combat.
the normal combat:
Baldur's Gate 3
turn based
Metaphor
turn based
Clair Obscur
turn based
all critical and commercial successes
meanwhile
Forspoken
Dragon Age The Veilguard
Avowed
all flops
turn-based RPGs are simply better, and (smart) game devs will see this and make more no matter what you think. you lost
I will not consume woke garbage
Simple as
Thanks for confirming you've only played poorly-designed garbage RPGs.
Get back with me once you've played something like SaGa Emerald Beyond or Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter which actually contain challenging gameplay that demands a lot more of the player.
action games are out, CHUD! It's turn-based or bust from here on out
Meanwhile, in reality
being too retarded to understand the implicit point of the post you're replying to listing new and formerly dormant IPs, since they're comparable in scope
has to point to daddy Elder Scrolls to try and win the argument
KEK, ok faggot, now tell me how well Oblivion remastered has sold compared to Pokemon SV
turn-based has always won and will stay winning, if you don't like the facts you can always kill yourself
was so butthurt he had to reply with the same thing twice
Lol
Anyway, that's a massive leap in scope comparing two games to an entire franchise. But, to keep it simple, Skyrim sold 60 million according Todd (not reliable info, I know, but the most we have), while Pokemon "only" sold 47 million. Seems like Daddy 'Thesda wins again, sorry :Y
Expecting honesty and solid arguments from Anon Babbletards
filtered by thinking man battle system
many such cases, sad!
Uh... retard? You realize what makes chess strategically stimulating is the fact you're going against another human being, right? The AI in Jarpigs is almost universally retarded because they're meant for literal children
thats not an issue with turn based system then, plenty of TB games which will bust your balls
Kek you got the JRPG manchildren seething with this one.
based
battle starts
everybody lets get behind a line xD
ok attack me now
ok, now I am attacking you xDD
Fucking gay shit system which should be abolished
turn BASED is here to stay
OK, let's you and I play chess, except that the defender can slap the attacker's hand away before they grab the piece. If successful, the attacker forfeits their turn. Totally enhances the strategy of chess am I right?
It's time to simply stop listening to them.
Arguing over the internet is a form of turn based combat.
zoomers unironically think no other genre outside fps and souls-likes should exist.
see how zoomers who try to get into warhammer after playing space marine 2/vermintide/darktide balk at the fact that the only other popular modern WH games out there are the total war games and rogue trader
Turn-based combat is awesome.
But these hybrid real time and turn based systems developers are experimenting with just don't mesh well. The games parry system is gay.
Should have been a soulslike also they shouldn't have killed Gustave after Act 1.
He asked about zoomers, not about you. Nobody cares about your blog, faggot.
Is not streamer friendly. Can't get any epic reactions from it.
Goog zoomer
If anything is the issue it's that it's not actually a pure turn-based game.
They should get into miniature wargaming instead. Too bad Warhammer games are mostly overpriced garbage.
That's squeenix combat, not normal combat.
Normal combat would be something like Darksiders, Ninja Gaiden, Nier, Witcher.
All of those have some sort of mechanical depth and you can play them ungabunga or try to tactic it out a bit.
I wanna kiss the feet of the barefoot lady
It's even funnier to me that youngsters are hating the combat as if it's a 90s rpg. Their skimming over the fact that this game has real time parry and dodging and you need to do it or you die
FFVII remakes would have been 10 times better turnbased. Zoomers love button mashing gameplay because they were raised on touch screens
lmao
The world's best players are literally incapable of beating their phones now.
This "cancer" has been in the industry since its inception and some of the greatest games released are turn based.
Looks like a skill-issue case to me.
No, but it should be improved. For a turn based game like Expedition 33, parry should be high risk/high reward. Expedition 33 just add a long animation, somewhat accounting for the high risk part. They should've increased the penalty for missing the parry imo. They make it even easier to just not take damage with dodging, which is easier.
You have absolutely no idea how turn based combat works, and just by this description you proved to everyone here that you don't know how to play turn based games.
The most fun I've had in recent gaming based solely on game feel and difficulty curve was finishing this turn based H game
You know, in all of these threads, I've never actually seen someone explain why turn-based is this hyper-intellectual strategic battle system, like we're just supposed to take it for granted that it is. Where, exactly, is the mentally taxing part? Having to wait? All that proves is you don't have ADHD, which isn't a big accomplishment if you're not a zoomer. Stats? As long as you know "bigger number = better, you barely have to think on it. Deciding whether to use a spell or attack? Do whichever will kill the enemy quicker. When do I feel like a big-brained gigachad for pressing the attack button for the millionth time?
chess is challenging because it's equal and it's against a human
ai in games is fun to play because imbalances are often introduced
time limits, pressures on the player to preserve certain resources or think about two fights from now
player wants to shape his gaming and as such might take his economy in the red or attempt risky strats for long term profit
Get Filtered, Zoomer.
Nobody is saying turn based is for the hyper intelligent you fucking retard stop falling for the most basic shitpost.
Nigger.
I dont think most zoomers do but heres why I do:
complete an objective in a turn based game
two hours later i cannot progress because of how i managed resources in that earlier fight (meaning its mathematically impossible unless i get unrealistic rng)
Vs
complete an objective in a real time combat game but waste a lot of resources
next fight will be super hard due to this but still technically possible if i master my reflexes
inb4 get good
Turnbasedfags will say this but they will reminiscent on the times they had to create like 100 characters in fallout 1 to understand how not to make a shit one and/or base the game around saving a lot. I like games like chess so i think i could get into some type of strategic video games but that is just way too archaic (literally, its this way simply because thats what ttrpg players were used to, not because it was made with the video game medium in mind)
You are mistaken if you think all the strategy lies in each combat encounter.
Combat throughout the game serves more as a measuring device for your choices. They are a reflection of how you structure your party. The real strategy lies in what choices you make in the grand scheme of things to optimize combat encounters.
The "bigger number = better" is a valid strategy, but defaulting to it every time is just retarded, because that's just brute-forcing through the game.
It's a matter of optimization.
The same people who complain RPGs aren't challenging enough after grinding to max level and holding down ATTACK for the whole game are the same people who think they beat an arcade game by credit feeding, then proceed to say "the game was too easy" or "the game was too short."
Not opposed to turn-based combat in general, but I agree menu-based 4 niggas in a row combat is cringe and more often than not completely brain-dead. It also looks fucking stupid in 3D
requires using brain power
Turn-based + parry mechanics is the GOAT combination
MR. ADVERTISER, GET DOWN
This game is unironically a better action rpg than Elden Ring.
Same principle of roll roll roll until it's your turn to strike. Except in E33 it's actually fun to do that because they are actually turn, and you get to do cool shit during your turn, while in elden ring you spam roll to get 1 or two R1 in and then wait again.
