Gameplay
Its like a mix of different classic RPG elements (4-in-a-row; execution order; damage types; skills...) and action RPG elements (parrying; bonfire and estus flask; evasion...). The best part is the combat since each character has its own gimmick and you can perform nice combos to turn the table around (applying fire damage on the enemy with one character, and perform special skills with another character that relies on the enemy having burnt status). And given the action RPG elements, the battles requires you to pay attention at all times, not only for parry and evasion, but even on the enemies themselves (looking for weak points you can aim and shoot, or save powerful attacks for later until you break the enemy defenses).
Story
The story has a good RPG premise (fighting against your destiny), goes strong with heavy hopelessness and good presentation, but the game also has many moments with light and heartening mood and messages. I liked when gustave was talking to maelle about the entire mission, gustave spittin some good comments about death and impending doom
"You know that's... That's the insidious thing about the Gommage. Its... predictable. Almost gentle, it makes Lumiere complacing and accepting but... The Gommage is equally violent, and death, death is just as final"

I've been using sound cues but it seems a bit inconsistent (normally too late). But I feel I'm not off by much so an extra 10 or 20% window would make it much more consistent.
