At its core its FFX combat but with dodge, parry and jump/counters when enemies attack, synergies and builds via spending a set amount of points on skills and passives you unlock across all characters kind of like ff8's junctioning and the world and story is interesting so far.

Overall it just feels more like Final Fantasy from the 90's than anything square does now. Stuff like "getting the first vehicle for the overworld lets you head over jagged rocks to access new areas" stuff like the hovercraft in IV or dragon in V.

CO uses it like VIII where any character can equip them and combine them like junctioning so two players parties can have the same characters but have them function very differently and i think thats the best of both worlds.
