I wish HD CRTs were real. 7th gen consoles look kind of bad on modern TVs and the inconsistent framerate can be jarring.

This white thing with the wires on it has sagged a bit from years of gravity enacting its pesky force on it, and your whole shit is askew. To fix it you need to get in there and twist it (while it's on) and get it back into place and then glue some wedge under it so it stays in place. It's a fun experience you can do it!

Fucking sellers in my area snatched up all the CRTs and sell them for $80+ and they don’t even include component or s-video, though I did see two of them at a thrift store (rare occurrence though)

You could watch widescreen movies with this but then there was lag for old consoles. Were these cheaper than flatscreens? Only reason I could see people buying them at that time.

I know but I never seen one in person or for sale and I've been messing with CRTs for over a decade, they seem incredibly rare

just ask old people in your area for crts its how i got mine. i found 2 in less thann a month that i got for free. srsly aunts uncles grandparents older co workers. they have them in their garages. just collecting dust

nah, i'll figure out how to safely reorient it myself sometime in the future. it also has a dvd player that just barely works and needs to be fixed as well. a lot of work that needs to be done for a tv that only has composite input...

That was true for every flat screen, and still is until you start getting up to 240hz.

I had that model like 10 years or so ago, but the tube or something else shit itself. It also only did 540p or 1080i, nothing else. Was kinda shit, but also kinda neat.

I've been trying for ages to track down a CRT with HDMI in so I could hook my PC to it. No luck yet but I know they are out there, waiting for me.

They were new and big, that's all people cared about. That's the reason LCDs took off

Just get a crt computer monitor with hdmi to vga converter.

My LG Flatron CRT died recently. I am absolutely fucking gutted coz it had hands down the best image quality i've ever seen.

I still have my Sony and my Wells Gardner arcade monitor but they aren't as good.
I should be grateful they at least work.

you'd be better off just converting hdmi to composite or s-video. the setup i have for this is a little messy and pricey. the most expensive part is the startech vga2vid2 which is like around $70. but it's worth it as shown in this youtube video comparing a similar startech converter to a cheap converter.

i'm autistic and it used to bother me for awhile. but i eventually got used to it and was able to tune it out.

At this point just buy a proper scaler like the OSSC Pro

Not interested in price, just don't want any input lag and these setups tend to add a ton from my experience.

i thought the ossc is for upscaling video and outputting to hdmi?
i don't really notice any input lag at all. it's pretty responsive. played through some games on it without issue.

OSSC Pro can do downscaling.
Some Australian guy has done in depth reviews of pretty much every downscaler at this point. OSSC is one of the better ones, but it's like $300.

I gave up trying to hook my computer up to a CRT and just bought a Wii to emulate on instead.
