Venom and Carnage when they have a proper host are really fucking dangerous and usually require high tier powers to handle, like avenger-level stuff. However, there are also much weaker ones, ranging from named symbiotes that can be handled by a guy with a sonic gun and molotovs, to pure mooks that only exists to be mowed down and are barely above regular mafia goons. Symbiotes without hosts are generally not much of a threat.

This is not why I play video games, mundane shit like this is better in cutscenes because I can skip them if I want. For no real reason, Symbiotes in Insomniac aren't just not vulnerable to intense heat like they are to sound, they're completely fucking immune to it, so Venom's only weaknesses are sound, the Anti-Venom suit that Peter gets and maybe Miles' electric shit.
Peter, in his physical prime, with tons of sonic weaponry, a suit that should make him just as powerful as he was with the Symbiote with the ability to directly counter the Symbiote, gets thrashed by Venom anyway so Miles can help.
