Expedition 33

why does he look unhinged all the time?

Why is this game popular, is the gameplay actually good

He's surrounded by women.

Esquie lost his stones again

You live over a 100 years after realizing that you're a pale imitation of a dead guy some broad is using as a coping mechanism and NOT look unhinged.

want to be a musician, your family forces you to be a painter

wr*ters make an attempt on your little sister's life, sacrifice yourself for her

mom goes insane with grief and populates an old painting of yours with a society of real fake people + a painted copy of your family but immortal

your painted self has all your memories, also the painting is sustained with a fragment of your real self's soul

fall in love with girl inside the painting

forced to betray her to protect your painted family

society of fake people develops, has kids, grows over time

build character for 67 years

end up tired of this fake life, even your painted little sister sees it this way; wanna kys but can't 'cause immortal

be at odds with your painted father who keeps slaughtering the real fake people and wants to keep the charade going

grow attached to your reborn irl little sister and want her help in destroying the painting so herself and her mom can be saved

befriend her real fake people friends, maybe even bang one of 'em

reborn irl little sister erased painted little sister without letting you say goodbye

you find out painted older sister was alive all along and mindfucked by irl older sister into creating monsters to keep killing the real fake people

real dad is with you in destroying the painting, you have the real man's memories but know you're not him so you just sorta... stand around in the background knowing and accepting he doesn't see you as his son 'cause you're really not

reborn irl little sister wants to stay in the painting

she either kicks your ass after which she makes you mortal but keeps the charade going and you cannot do anything but watch as the real you's sacrifice was for naught and she withers away and dies inside the painting while the fragment of your real you's soul isn't put to rest

or you kick her ass in which case the society of real fake people, the two friends you genuinely bonded with and yourself stop existing forevermore

If you like turn-based RPG's

ywn be forced to live a fake life of happiness by your shut-in neet imouto

Why live?

The writers are the actual game writers right?

Sirene paralyzes people by showing them the people they love and miss the most

Looks inside Verso's mind

Literally finds nothing

kek

Bros... lying is good... right?

No

Nah tell that bitch the truth because she ends up hurting Verso even more.

Why would it not feel good to rip off the bandage when she just murdered Alicia, like your real sister, right in front of you without giving you warning or any chance to say goodbye

you fail her link for lying

It's unironically 10/10

That

Build character for 67 years

Part is him essentially watching expeditions die over and over and over again while he's trying to help them, knowing that if they succeed they'll all die anyway, working all alone as even his own painted father feels he has betrayed them.

God damn.

schizophrenic painter who hates his life looks unhinged

i wonder why

I'm 2 hours in and It's surprisingly nice

Why couldn't Paint!Verso actually paint and recreate people and change reality when Paint!Clea could?

Paint!Clea only could because she was warped into a Nevron factory by Real!Clea.
The game is pretty adamant that Real Clea is the strongest, or at least most tecchnically capable of them all.

So painters can make other painters? Not to mention that you can make a canvas inside another canvas, since that's what Lune and Maelle were planning to do

GustaVerso

Brave, Frenchies

1, Where do I find the gestalt that eats Nevron flesh?

2, What am I supposed to do at white sands? The mansion is on the hill and there is some French guy saying stuff but there's nothing there besides that.

it's a PSX era FF game wearing the skin of a western game with a few dashes of fromsoft thrown in

Only painted Clea seems to be able to make anything, and it's shown that she's been painted over by the real Clea who is strong as fuck.

It's entirely possible to make a canvas inside a canvas, but most likely you are still restricted by the total amount of chroma in the original canvas.

Help a brainlet out. I want to make my Lune usable, but I'm too retarded. Just tell me what skills I want to have on her.
That's it, I can manage with the Pictos.
I don't want a super cheese build that one-hits everyone, just so that she isn't worse than my average party member.
This is what I have available right now. Plus 8 free skillpoints I was going to use on Elemental Genesis.

Trebuchim+Mayhem stacking damage luminas carried me the entire game, even though it pales off late compared to how broken Maelle is of course.

But she can still do a clean 500k-1million a turn with mayhem, depending on how lucky I am with resistances/weaknesses on the stains, not to mention mayhem does a ton of break damage so she's the one carrying the most weight on that.

trebuchim(weapon) mayhem(skill) bread and butter with some AP and freeaim passives, elemental genesis in case you RNG the correct stains

trebuche mayhem with energy gen pictos works well for most of the game

On Lune you just use one of the two weapons that grant a Stain on a free aim shot, all the luminas that add stuff to free aim and grant AP for that stuff, spam those shots on her turn and then Elemental Genesis or Mayhem, depending if you get the right stains or not.

Because you just don't understand!

level 73

still haven't headed to Lumiere

did I just ruin my experience?

Well, you'll get a cinematic experience ;)

too real and relatable

What the hell were people smoking when they said act 2 and onward gets more difficult? The pictos you find in act 2 are ridiculous. I feel like I got near infinite AP with how much synergy burn and marks give you, bosses barely get to act before they die and I'm on expert. Start of act 1 was harder than this.

just take painted power off and you'll be fine

Lying is never good

Only real Clea can paint over someone else paint.

Any game with sufficient build customisation can definitionally only get easier as it goes on as long as you know what you're doing

Just finished the game, now what?

mfw going around picking up rank 23-24 picto's that double/triple life, defense, speed and crit at the start of the second act

True. But now go fight the superboss in Renoir's Drafts without cheesing it with Maelle.

have you finished all the optional content?

I know they mentioned that in Flying Manor but I don't see how this is true or logical. Technically the entire canvas is the paintwork of Real!Verso and Real!Clea, wasn't Aline going into it and altering it painting over their work? Isn't Renior doing the same thing? And when Maelle starts getting into her powers and altering the reality of the canvas, isn't she 'painting over' the rules and bounds made by her brother, sister, mother before her?

Turn based game where you play Sekiro when it's the enemy's turn

this is Clea's dream love interest

What did she mean by this?

No clue what that is yet but maelle isn't even my strongest character because she needs a bit of setup while Lune and Verso are insane in the first turn thanks to synergies
Having near constant max on lune for perma status effects + marks breaks act 2 so bad

Aline didn't paint over their work, she painted more things into it. What's there is already set, that's why the fracture happens in the first place.

Essentially, they can't paint things that exist there into something they aren't. They can remove them or add new things, but they can't change what is already there.

some people didn't use maelle to win the arena championship for the start on virtuoso weapon

bricked until they beat golgra

monoco is a real nigga

but maelle isn't even my strongest character

he didn't get her Arena weapon early

he categorically wasn't because she did that to him when she found out Aline was shipping them

It's what happens when there's not a tranny breathing down the neck of the writers.

What a retarded fucking plot. Glad I didn't bother with it. Look forward to children going full Donnie Darko on how profound it is.

He's kinda hot

It's painted Cleas.

heard a partial synopsis of a single character in the story and judged the whole game based off of that

calling others pretentious

lmao that moment in the 1st video was great

friend I'm level 38 at somewhere what I assume is mid act 2
I didn't even know you could deal more than 9.9k damage

Wait. Are the initial people Aline painted just being reborn in the population every other generation?

He's no Marche, PaintedVerso is using that as an excuse to kill himself like how the original jumped on the occasion to die in the fire while saving his sister to not make his suicide obvious.

Fuck, man...

mfw.jpg - 554x553, 22.62K

What the fuck is wrong with her face?

Thanks, set it up, going to try it in a moment.

I need Clea's game right now, I feel like there's a lot to tackle beside Wr*ter things

Makes no difference. Even before you break cap, Maelle is the strongest with Medalum. That weapon is the most broken shit.

Well, there IS a limited amount of chroma which is getting smaller and smaller as the previous expedition members get stoned...

They're the same as Gestrals, reborn as the same but slightly different.

The worst part is how cool the tutorial and first part of the first act is, it really gets you stoked and then you're led into a retarded family drama and nobody is real and shit's all retarded and FUCK it pisses me off so much, the D-Day beach landing got me so hyped and every subsequent hour got me more and more disinterested until I didn't give a fuck about anything by the end of Act 2. I usually leave it to the japs to ruin everything about a game's story but the frogs one upped them on this one.

53523523553.jpg - 474x474, 17.72K

It's a small town, they're probably all each other's cousins or something

Is there a reason that Alina gave painted Renoir a giant Persona of a black lion?

Nobody is real

It's all real retard, don't be an idiot.

It's a very obvious FF VIII reference, which the lead dev is a huge fan of.

You've been trying this ((argument)) for several threads now and nobody's baiting. You're wasint bandwidth

Gustave's not shaving was the biggest mistake of his life

I didn't even get that weapon and she still became my heavy hitter early game, her virtuose stance is op as fuck by itself already

Maybe He's a Lion

(Just a trash can)

She literally made a gigachad version of her husband. Him having your typical shadowdaddy's powers from books written by women was inevitable.

b-but real world

shut the fuck up
I'm staying

shaves

grows hair

instantly looks more mature than his unshaven ass

0.06%

And how many of them did it for reals

Verso's ending is good, but Maelle's ending is peak art

Literally Macron came out in support of the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a politician openly praise a game that. Crazy.

If only I could kill all the liars in this gay god forsaken world

He's seen some shit.

Stay in your dreamworld which will inevitably die off as you do while you torture the remnants of your brothers soul.

Heh

god damn act 1 was pure SOVL. hearing it again in the paintress' "dungeon" (wow reskinned backtracking amazing) made me realize how much more i enjoyed the game prior to act 2

I don't think Xbox/Game Pass has an achievement unlocker like Steam so all of them

Poland was doing this with Witcher 3

it's one of the best combat mechanics since ffx

It's the parrying mechanic that instantly sold soulfags like me and made me experience and love turn-based games for the first time. That's the main reason why.

I like how the scene is supposed to be a "happy" ending, but it being presented in clair obscure (lmao) makes it super unsettling even before the Maelle jumpscare

falseflag shitpost

clair-obscur/chiaroscuro does not mean black and white

Doing Maelle cheap one shot doesn’t count

It's pretty fun for a while, but turn based tactics is infinitely better than traditional jrpg combat, qtes or not, need more games like fire emblem and xcom

What I don't get... Alicia merges with Maelle at the end of act 2 but who is Alicia at the reacher...?

oh in that case probably none of them

Fake painted Alicia bro...

i actually mean 4 niggas in a row but yeah your are right. They are not comparable

That's the Painted Alicia that Aline made.

that's Painted Alicia made by Aline

alicia never merges with maelle, maelle is the real alicia the whole time, and the painted alicia is herself the whole time

killing a whole world full of sentient beings to help two women deal with grief

I like Verso but come on dude.

The world is doomed either way.

maelle is the real alicia the whole time

then who tf is the scarred bitch outside?

youtube.com/watch?v=RE6MiGc3mGY
I was getting Nier-like soundtracks and Made in Abyss adventure vibes throughout the journey and then suddenly this thing was blasting like out of the fucking Witcher
I love that area

The Canvas is DONE and DEAD anyways. Choose whoever will destroy it. Renoir, Clea, or the Wriggers.

I know, I'm talking about the contrast of light on the faces of characters within the audience (Sciel, Lune and Maelle)

You wouldn't be killing anybody, they already died when Renoir mass-grommage'd them.
In fact it's more ethical to let them stay dead then bring them back as smiling fleshpuppets so you can live your happy fantasy life

A whole world that relies on the tortured soul to exist

Besides, at that point like 99% of the people in the world were dead anyway.

That's Maelle/Alicia before she entered the canvas which is what turned her into Maelle.

Imagine being aware that your whole universe is actually just VR The Sims with some really good AI and God is actually your mom slowly dying after going insane with grief.

Nah the fact that she needs a turn to just get into a good state only to lose it when she's done makes her worse than others. Her downtime after and before is annoying as hell if the monster/boss doesn't die immediately

You are killing all the gestrals and Grandis.

FUCK THE PAINTERS
THEY DON'T KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG
TORTURED SOULS MY ASS
COME JOIN THE WRITERS

is copy of guy who has been dead for a while

be aware the place you live in isn’t even real and hinges on a fragment of soul of dead guy you’re modeled after

everyone he knows has died and will die while he lives on forever

is aware all of this only exists because his mother is in pain

Can you blame him

good

The funniest part is when Maelle is like

Well maybe you'll grow out of your angst

Nigger he's been alive for over a HUNDRED YEARS ALREADY

Medalum is the weapon that specifically starts her in Virtuoso. Losing stance after that turn doesn't matter, because everything is dead after that one turn with the right luminas and Fencer's Flurry initially or Stendhal in Act 3.

Can you blame him

No. I guess thats what makes the story so good.It doesnt have a correct answer or some ancient evil to put the blame on.

snoopy.gif - 499x253, 370.43K

Holy damn

Verso ending is also about letting go of the canvas, just like the dessendre family did
Truly ludo

So is our world once the Sun dies. Should everyone just sudoku now?

The fact that so many people are torn on which ending they'd pick means that the writers did a phenomenal job.

If all the painters simply leave it alone nothing will happen to it. Only downside is Verso seethe but why can't Maelle just unpaint his ass?

Imagine being eternally strapped to the cuck chair by your own sister while you watch her slowly descend into her delusions before she rots away and dies. She gave everyone happy endings except for you, and she didn't even give you the ability to play Piano, which was your true passion.

Imagine Lune and Maelle are real so they can give you footjobs while you're crying.

There's a difference between an extremely distant future, during which time anything is possible, or 70 years or so in a defined pocket universe, not to mention in the company of a demigod who's slowly going mad, and with her father and sister demigods no doubt about to pull another attempt to get her out.

Exactly. They have got anon's debating existentialism.

interesting that this game is doing another baldurs gate where it peaks a week or two after release

It's kino in a sad way with how it's presented as a well made cutscene, yes. But that's it. It's even more depressing than Verso's.

>fall in love with girl inside the painting

>forced to betray her to protect your painted family

when was this said?
i missed it lol

If all the painters simply leave it alone nothing will happen to it.

But that won't happen. Renoir and/or Clea willd destroy it. And if they don't, the Writers likely will.
Or at some point, the remnants of Verso's soul will just crumble.

Must suck being Verso in that case.

You die because of your sister

Your family fucks up your canvas, where you worked so hard you poured a part of your soul into it

You desperately want to not exist, but even your canvas gets abused by your sister to feed her own delusional happiness.

The eternal cuck...

Julie's record on the world map behind Forgotten Battlefield.

It is divisive because it deals with a lot

How much is one life worth?

Are painted people real?

Escapism vs reality

Depression

Should verso soul keep being enslaved against his real wish to depart the canvas just to sustain the world?

Grief

Mixes it all together and you will have different answers depending on people's life experiences

Verso tried to convince the first expeditioners that the Paintress wasn't the problem, but they became suspicious when they saw him reviving after a battle and his father was convinced that they were spies/enemies painted by Clea so he had to betray and kill his friends.

Verso, throughout the game and his life, has never anyone truly on his side.

The Dessandre family would inevitably invade the canvas again, resetting the whole cycle of gommage and death.

Clea was actually the only reasonable one and that goes in and out of the painting, knowing it's not real. She even tells Maelle she can leave and return when she wants, but Maelle and the mom are too mentally ill to do that.

Who's the girl next to Verso and the girl next to Lune?

thx.jpg - 2560x1440, 1.54M

Clea is a mean bitch. Look what she did to her painted self. All of the family members are fucked up one way or another.

It's interesting in a way too because the painting was half done by Clea as well, she has the largest personal connection to it. The others are only connected to it through Verso or grown experiences.

Clea did specifically mention "this only truly ends if you stop Verso's soul from painting".

alicia never merges with maelle

In the sense that only after being Gommaged does "Maelle" gain Alicia's memories. The end result is Alicia with Maelle's memories but no longer Maelle.

Aline creates a painted version of Alicia

that's the burned chick with the mask you see inside the Canvas, the one painted Verso and black suit Renoir are family to

real life Alicia enters Canvas to try and get her parents out

she fucks up and let's Aline's Chroma take over her, she's reborn inside the painting as Maelle

lives 16 years

gets Gommaged

if she was a normal person she would've been erased right there and then but getting Maelle erased allowed the real Alicia's memories to reappear

from that point forward the "Maelle" you play as for the rest of Act 3 is real life Alicia with real life Alicia's memories as well as Malle's 16 years of memories on top of it

Sophie and painted alicia

Alicia (Maelle) and Alicia (painted)

maelle is next to verso and alicia is painting the piano

Alicia next to Lune, and white hair Maelle next to Verso? i think

Maelle-Alicia and Painted Alicia.

The faces in this art is absolutely deviantart tier.

Solid Alicia, Liquid Alicia, Punished Alicia

It's very well done. Also nice to Anon Babble embrace a game for once to the point that the dumb shitposters are being drowned out. Wish that would happen more, proves this place can still be a decent spot for discussion.

Anyone found that cutscene of Renoir and Alicia observing Maelle while she sleeps and conversing? I would like to watch it again.

finally get my revenge for Gustave

Renoir's last words are "i love them too"

Why do i not feel good, bros? Why am i sad for killing one of the main antagonists?

she identifies as maelle for the entire game even after restoring her memories of the real world

Just beat the game. What a great ending holy shit can’t remember the last time an rpg stuck the landing

Because both Renoirs were 1000000% right.

facing reality good

But she's a useless cripple in real world. She can't even speak...

The fact she painted it with Verso gives her more logical viewpoint. She knows Canvas is supposed to be temporary playground, not replacement to reality

because the game is good

finish all side content

actively attempt to not one-hit Renoir so that I can hear the dialogue

pick Verso's ending

stare at the credits with a blank mind

I haven't had a "what now?" moment with games for years now. It genuinely left me awestruck. What a fantastic game.

because renoir is fucking based and correct. Once you have full understanding of everything all his cutscenes portray him as the hero

There are people in this thread right now who would kill Monoco and Esquie to save some old hag and a damaged loli who dont even want to be saved anyway

I will never be able to take this frame of Verso seriously. Ever.

The fact that a child soul is trapped endlessly slaving away to maintain the canvas makes one side kinda retarded no?

But sure, the game blurs the line of where the line of what sort of happiness is deemed real and what isn't. In a pure psychological sense, Alicia was right too, wanting to remain in the canvas. And if an alternative existed that didn't result with a child being forced labor and Maelle turning into a God while preserving the canvas, that would have been the best option.

Yeah it reminds me of this everytime

I'm betting that most of the sells are from people that experienced it on gamepass and want to support the devs by buying it

Based Renoir posting edits when

Both Renoirs? No. Painted Renoir was a savage.

monoco and esquie were 100% on the same page as verso in his ending

Maelle this
Verso that
Can we just recognize how based of a father renoir is?

They. Are. Doomed. Anyway.
The genocide dilemma is irrelevant, especially when at a later time, Alicia can just create a Canvas of her own paying homage to Verso's. One that isn't a doomed hellscape with only 70 or so years left to go.

the hug scene

I wept bitter bitch tears, but it had to be done

"I don't want this life"
Vs
"I'll miss you guys"

Honestly I don't know which one hurt more

This moment almost ruined Maelle for me.I audibly said "what the fuck" out loud when she gommage'd Paint!Alicia without letting Verso say goodbye. They talk about it in camp afterwards but fuck man

Sciel even has her husband back and is smiling with him

Maelle is giggling with her preferred big brother

the cuckoldry is never-ending

A copy is a copy, you would still have killed the people in this canvas. Something everyone above the age of 5 would be able to conclude.

Esquie and monoco were okay with it,being friends of the OG verso they knew him deeply, they didnt seethe unlike sciel and lune

Even Renoir knows that Clea is true leader of the house

He is, though he fucked up by giving in to Alicia in the end. That's why Verso is the true hero in the end, he does what needs to be done.

the Renoirs have completely opposite goals but have the same motivation, which is save their family no matter the cost

Its like pottery

Of course she does, because she doesn't like the real world and wants to be inside the painting.

"I'm not really Verso, and you're not really Maelle"

Her personality subtletly but clearly changes once she has Alicia's memories. Maelle as we knew her during the first two Acts is effectively a different person.

she can paint her own canvas and go into that and enjoy it for a bit and be responsible and not get sucked into it.
Also she liked to read before this all started, she can keep writing and join The Writers if she wanted. We could use a redhead anyways, maybe see if she can tell me what Clea likes

Have you finished the game? It shows her descent as a person which the ending drives home further.

Turn based combat can actually be good when it isn't dog shit D&D

Again, irrelevant. Ending Verso's Canvas potentially saves more than it ends, and those it ends are doomed to end soon to begin with.

the one thing I got from this game is French men continually pay the price for the insanity of French women

Verso is a deceiving rat if you see him as Lune or Sciel's perspective

They. Are. Doomed. Anyway.

You are also going to die anyway, why arent you killing yourself now instead of enjoying some more years on this earth?

What were her last thoughts based on this expression?

what could he do? How the fuck do you stop someone who can do 50 million damage in one turn and always plays first and always plays twice?

plenty of people irl live full and happy lives with similar disabilities and they arent paint wizards who can fuck off into paint vr whenever they want

not having AoE monster Verso in the party

Bro what are you doing? Equip that sword that puts him in S rank at once and spam that AoE light attack.

this one was a pain, Chromatic has a lot of defense too so you have to break him first to do good damage

Verso did far worse against Maelle.

Bro let me come to your house and kill you because your existence is doomed anyways.

I'd imagine they'd prefer Verso to be released from his life of suffering even if it meant sacrificing themselves in the process. I think Sciel understood too.

the game was boring

the stupid clown was unkillable so i refunded

why the fuck did Aline paint her with the fucking scars? no wonder Alicia wanted to stay in the painting instead of the real world

sciel, monoco, maelle

Abuse Maelle's Stendhal, you can probably one shot all of them.

"My beautiful sister doesnt need this ugly mask"

False equivalence, and by that logic you'd agree with those who don't join the expeditions and were willing to embrace oblivion anyway.

Because that's who her daughter is. It would be a huge insult to paint your daughter without her scars.

Why did Painted Renoir prefer mass killings over explaining the situation to expeditioners, possibly working with them to cast real Renoir out? Hack writing.

False equivalence

Why?

by that logic you'd agree with those who don't join the expeditions and were willing to embrace oblivion anyway.

That is their choice to make, if they want to.

She blames her for Verso's death on one hand, and sees her own grief reflected in her and can't handle that.

Aline hates her

Why Aline draw the person she thought responsible for the death of her son in an unappealing way?

I'm surprised painted Alicia's even a person.

Nah letting someone die =/= actively killing someone

Why did Painted Renoir prefer mass killings over explaining the situation to expeditioners, possibly working with them to cast real Renoir out?

He tried that in the past. You can find journals from expeditions that Verso and Renoir were a part of.

Painted alicia's scars are way worse than the real thing, and she's forced to wear the mask

thinks Maelle is in danger

immediately says fuck the expedition

most likely

this. i didn't even get my maelle juiced until after i finished the tower because i had this exact verso setup

He killed every person left in Lumiere by beating the paintress and not telling the rest what would have happened.
He killed thousands.

Definitely, he would not want maelle to live a life of lieing to herself

No. He would not have allow the murder of thousands of people.

Maelle's ending justifies Verso's acts.

filtered by basic mechanics

refunds the game

Bye bye

Because the real world is capable of growth and legacy. Verso's Canvas isn't. It's constrained in both scope, and time.
Sacrificing it means the Dessendres can move beyond their grief, face the Writers as a family, and create myriads other canvases. The alternative is resurrecting everyone (who's already dead besides Sciel and Lune) for another few decades, in which new children born will also have no future, in a hellscape still plagued by Nevrons. Why prolong that world on purpose at that high a price?

Not even mentioning Real Verso's tired soul.

He was willing to sacrifice himself for what is essentially a fake Alicia, so I'd say he would do it for the real one too.

I don't remember any of this. The only Expedition to figure out Paintress wasn't the big bad was 60, I don't think they mentioned Renoir and they failed to bring the news home

she isn't forced to wear the mask she just wears it cause she's embarrassed about the scars no?

The beast is the one above btw

How did they capture facial emotions so well? Even very subtle eye twitches and muscle movements are captured. Even AAA games struggle with this level of face details.

The more I do the endgame stuff, the more I'm convinced this painting needs to absolutely be burned as the Dessandre family ruined it beyond repair.

"Aline! Look at Alicia. She can't be here!"

"Aline, it's supposed to be you and me, not you AGAINST me"

"Why am I the only one who sees this?"

mfw.png - 1080x810, 618.46K

Yes anon that was the implication of the post

Wouldn't the nevrons stop existing/being created in maelle's ending? Gonna assume she would stop painted Clea from making them and would stop the Nevrons from stealing the chroma. At that point the world would last until Maelle herself grows too weak to sustain it and dies and then Vero's soul would just be stuck in oblivion of the dead canvas

E33coin still pumping

What do I play now that's even remotely close to this level of peak?

TO THE MOOOOOOON

regardless of why she wears it, aline painted her that way, real alicia doesnt wear a mask

Doom in 10 days

I genuinely cannot process the idea of someone being torn between the endings once they've heard Verso's pleas in Maelle's ending

Real Alicia most likely is just as scarred by her...scars

Verso is a lying faggot and a traitor. He deserves punishment, not salvation.

Chromatic Mayonnaise?

if it hits 150k yoshi p will rope on his next live letter

better hairstyle

a mask

Aline wanted to prettify her daughter in her own way, in the end

that's conjecture, in the text painted alica wears a mask and real alicia does not, we must assume this is intentional and is meant to communicate something about each character in relation to one another

The plea of one traitor vs the lives of thousands.

letting a teenage girl basically turn into God, free to resurrect and kill people as she wish

Yeah what can go wrong????

game starts with Verso saving Alicia from her own foolishness at the cost of his life

game ends with Verso saving Maelle from her own foolishness at the cost of his life

yep, it's kino.

Assuming they stopped Painted Clea, no new ones would be made but the ones already there would still exist.
Regardless, all the scenarios doom the world.

Renoir and Clea make another attempt to pull Alicia out and destroy the Canvas.

Alicia dies, Renoir and Clea destroy the Canvas

They all die, the Writers destroy the Painters and likely all their works including the Canvas

She never asked to be 'saved'

How?

Hundreds of years of living is better than zero.

Man that shit hurt so much I regretted my decision immediately

I don't think E33 will win goty do the industry just wanting to suck Kojima's cock and wanting Death stranding 2 to win but I sure hope Ben wins best performance cause he sure nailed Verso

It shows Alicia is just as deranged as Aline was, and as she slowly descends into madness who knows what more shit like forcibly recreating Verso she will pull to have her happily ever after?

damn, nice. some of us finished the game too so that's really impressive

based

Alicia is just as deranged as Aline was

Even if that the case why is one person becoming deranged worse than the death of thousands?

like forcibly recreating Verso

She didn't recreate him. She just didn't kill him.

It's a few decades at most, again with the knowledge that the end is inevitable and any child born after you will have a shorter lifespan.

Do you think he would have sacrificed his sister, his apprentices, and Sophie as well? What makes you say that?

SIMON IS ACTUALLY GUSTAVE???

She didn't recreate him. She just didn't kill him.

Pretty sure Verso dies in that duel and she brings him back (since Aline no longer is there to do that)

I agree the canvas is doomed. But I think how long until it's doomed matters. If the people in the canvas only had 33 years left then yeah I can see justifying moving on and destroying it especially if in those 33 years it risks the life of real painters (alicia, aline) but with Maelle's ending I think the painted world can get at least 100 or so years before real Alicia dies. In the grand scheme it's still a short doomed timeline but at least it's something.

But again since most everyone except the Gestrals and snow yeties are already dead it's probably best to leave them, not bring them back to life and tell them "yeah the monolith resets to 100 basically have fun"

she's is forcing him to perform when he just wants to die, its incredibly sick

No ending where all the humans stand up to remove all painter niggers so they can continue living their lives without drama

We have absolutely no idea how long the canvas will exists for in Maelle's ending. It could be a few decades, it could be hundreds of years. But regardless it is more life than 0.

Tomorrow it'll be higher, it's alaways ahigher on sunday

I'm pulling you out the same way I pulled out your mother

Please dad, it'll just be a minute!

Well alright, I trust you

How stupid did Renoir feel after?

the only humans alive at the end of the game are sciel and lune

NG+ run basically finished, notably the main reason I did to go do all the side quests properly and get the achievement just did not work, everything done right this time and no trophy pop. Dunno if theres a way to fix it or if I have to do it on a raw new game but I'm not gonna go through the game a third time any time soon, especially without carryover so rip.
for whoever asked about the difficulty yesterday, its a bit better once you're doing the lategame stuff but if you want to nuke it you still can.

there's an argument to be made, Lune and Sciel (and Monoco and Esquie) survive and get their "happy" ending, along with the rest of Lumiere being brought back. You just have to be ok with continuing Verso's tortured existence and Maelle shooting up until she dies to get it.

In the Alicia ending what's stopping the Mom or Clea or the dad from returning & kicking her out of the canvas? Clea has been shown to be more powerful than Alicia she just doesn't care cause of the writer shit.

Verso is immortal. At best he seems to be disintegrating because he is outside of the normal boundaries of the canvas. Maelle even makes it so that he can die of old age.

There is nothing in that scene indicating that she is forcing him to preform.

Lumina converter allows the people born inside the canvas to become powerful enough to fight the painters within a few weeks

Theoretically, could they kept grinding or absorb enough chroma from the painters to exit the canvas and not die?
I imagine they'd be able to at least move to different canvases

He knew she was lying. He gave up because him trying to force her makes it worse for her and he's not strong enough when she can 1shot him

nah, it's the same as him ultimately accepting maelle coming along on the expedition despite her youth as it's what she wants instead of forcing her to stay to live more of her life
plus, i doubt he would want to eradicate all of lumiere because some stranger who let him die wants it

symbolically passes Verso his weapons, mirroring the end of act 1

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH

UJrQnZP5qM.jpg - 2560x1440, 823.24K

theres no way monoco and esquie are chill with what maelle does to verso

as soon as Alicia kicks it irl daddy is gonna erase that shit (and probably khs for letting her stay)

Can't find the ending cutscene but in French on youtube.

I think he just made peace with losing another child

Is the black friend in the beginning who gets killed the Wyll voice actor?

Nothing. It may take some in-canvas years though before they can recover their strength again.

You ever feel like the posts on here saying "Sell me on this game Anon Babble" are just being disingenuous and will always reply with snarky bitching?

as soon as Alicia kicks it irl

And we have no idea how long that is.

anon......

they are if she makes them chill with it

Verso is immortal

Because of Aline. He's not outside the normal boundaries. He's basically what Renoir and Alicia are too. It's just that they were always brought back by Aline.

You mean letting him live?

Given the state we see Aline in (who was way, way stronger than Alicia initially) after little over 67 years, with Alicia already being in for 16 years, it'll probably only be 50-60 years in-Canvas.

Sophie is already gone and we know he values Alicia (Maelle) well above the rest of the expedition.

IRL it's probably a few months tops. Within the Canvas maybe like a hundred years.

There is nothing in that scene indicating that she is forcing him to preform.

Autism.

So you immortals can exist in two places at the same time?

That fucking joke lined fucked me.
Thought everyone had their own axion which were their counter part.

Because of Aline. He's not outside the normal boundaries

We see both painted Alicia and painted Clea in the post game and they still seem immortal despite Aline leaving.

It was supposed to be that the canvas is hidden and the mom/dad would be too weak to go back asap but then mom shows up in the final battle only like 1 minute after she was kicked out apparently. Clea could def do it but she's probably too busy stringing wr*ters up

That's what the jumpscare is about, isn't it?

Yes anon, this is the face of a performer who's not being held at a brushpoint

The canvas doesn't actually need a Painter in it to stay "alive", it's explicitly mentioned that the only reason Alicia doesn't want to leave is because she believes Renoir will destroy it immediately when his family is out of it (not including the painted versions, obviously)

If Alicia, Aline, and Renoir all leave the canvas, there's no reason Lumiere and all its citizens wouldn't continue to live happy lives (assuming this is after Painted Renoir is gone)

They could put the canvas in a sealed metal box and bury it, and the world would remain until the end of the "real" world

I mean explicitly going against his wishes and torturing the last vestige of the original verso's soul just for her personal satisfaction

Sophie is already gone

She can be brought back.

we know he values Alicia (Maelle) well above the rest of the expedition

No we know he values her over continuing a doomed expedition. That doesn't mean he values her so much he would go against her wishes just so that his girlfriend, sister and apprentices can stay dead.

immortal

you make both of them die

It's unironically the freshest RPG released in over a decade.

For fucks sake anon why do you think Verso burst in tears when Maelle nuked painted Alicia?

Someone said to me, why doesn't Renoir just hide the painting from them? Like once they're out instead of destroying it go seal it in a vault or something.

Renoir says she'll just find it regardless multiple times.
Her Paintress powers probably mean she can just track it down.

Is making one person suffer not worth countless lives?

I think the assumption is that Renoir will immediately destroy it when he can because he doesn't trust his drug addicted family to not try and keep going back in to see Verso. After seeing how Alicia and Aline were I don't blame him for thinking that either and I wouldn't think burring it in a box would be the end of it, as long as there's SOME possible way to get back in then there's a risk of Alicia or Aline going for it

Should I be able to go there or is this a glitch? I wouldn't want to go to locations that should be unavailable for me and break something.
There's that "button" on the other side that, my guess is, creates a bridge I'm walking on right now.

E33 glitch.webm - 960x540, 3.82M

Maelle has painter powers. Which is why she could kill painted Renoir before even killing the paintress. Painted Alicia wouldn't need Maelle to kill her if she wasn't immortal.

Gave me straight up FF15 vibes, you know, the only good scene from it at the camp at the end.

just got the ability to destroy coral in the sea
when does the game get difficult?

Every Renoir fight was incredible

Second fight where the song is Renoir begging Aline to stop

Does Renoir strike you as a man who accepts half-measures?

after little over 67 years

Renoir had been in the painting for 67 years. We have no idea how long Aline was in.

It's literally Super Mario RPG/Mario and Luigi with more visual flair
So yes, it's good, but it shows just how much the people in this board do not know what they're talking about, everyone in this thread got rused into playing a bing bing wahoo RPG and they're pretending to be more mature than their peers

Glitch, you're meant to activate one of those bridge shortcuts from the other side but they left the collission in. Ooops.

So then you're saying that Maelle can kill Verso too? Or did you forget why this conversation started?

endless tower has 33 fights

Ok, this is epic.

Why is Clea so based?

cl.jpg - 1128x1666, 900.87K

kys bing binger. Switch 2 looks like shit.

Yes he is sad. We know why he is sad. And it has nothing to do with being forced to play the piano.

just for her personal satisfaction

You mean for the lives of thousands.

Best girl

Best team comp? Right now im using Maelle and Verso for damage and Sciel as a buffbot.

Is NG+ just higher difficulty or does it add something or what?

Not much longer, given her Painted Family. Depends on if she created Painted Verso as an infant who grew up, or if she made him instantly 26 with the implanted memories. I suppose the latter.

I'm glad you're also enjoying SMRPG, anon

"It's a drug she's unwilling to resist. Don't make the same mistake"

Verso bros, we can't stop winning

She is fueled by pure vengeance and hat for writers

Maelle and Sciel to buff her is all you need

I am so glad I got and played this game before the spoilers got out.

iirc some unique appearances are locked behind it

It depends on how you've done the initial playthrough

I've you've done basically all the side content (especially after you meet the Paintress) you'll be able to breeze through it

If you just rushed the main quests, NG+ will push your shit in so hard it'll come out your mouth

So then you're saying that Maelle can kill Verso too?

Of course she could. But only if she wanted, and she doesn't want to so she didn't kill him in their fight.

best character in the game

ignoring the other line about renoir

Classic versofag

Alright, going to stay away then, last thing I need is to ruin my save file. Thanks.

There's nothing new in NG+ besides higher levels of the same pictos in NG.

Painted Verso claims to be over 100.

Literally me

He vanishes before her eyes. He dies the way Alicia died.

There are new rewards and higher leveled pictos/items/etc

It's just that there are 3 rewards for beating Clea and you can only pick one per playthrough

did you miss the part where he fades away into grey petals like painted alicia did too?

painted alicia asked real alicia to kill her after she showed her the inside of the Axom, she was waiting for her to show up. After that she was ready to die but instead of just jumping off the cliff she let real Alicia do the honors. They aren't immortal after the paintress dies, they just didn't get gommaged like the rest of the world and didn't wanna sudoku

inb4 in a sequel it is revealed that Gustave irl is a writer and Clea's crush irl

what does he write?

Yeah, but is it 67 + implanted memories, or genuinely 100?
If she created him as 26 and we take him at his word and he was also 33 at the time of the Fracture? That means 7 in-canvas years between Aline going in and Renoir coming after her.

I wish there was a third ending you could get after this where Maelle just yells at everyone to get their shit together and then repaints everyone except for Verso in a new Canvas.

does it add something or what?

The chance to do 50 billion damage as Maelle (not an exaggeration)

Verso is asking Maelle to "unpaint" him. He obviously wouldn't need to do this if he was already dying.

text

Gustave irl is an Engineer - the arch-enemy of any artist

Maelle tells Verso it's dangerous for him to be where Verso's soul fragment's at and he replies he's fine thanks to "Mama's gift". He's still immortal.

I really hope the sequel (if there is any) involves the painters and writers, lots of potential in there, it doesn't even need to involve any of the dessendres, just give us a look into it

I really hope the sequel (if there is any)

I'd rather them make another original game.Fuck sequels

That was the most brutal shit, and Maelle has this smug look of self satisfaction during it, no doubt pleased to remove her copy. I don’t think the verso ending I choose was him making that choice out of bitterness or vengeance, but you almost can’t blame the guy after watching his two painted sisters, his only ‘real’ family die such as they did.

painters are losing the war

painters realise gustave's lumina converter can bring a literal army out of the canvas

they do so

they are horror-struck as they find out the lumina converter is still working in the "real" world

I don't expect this to have a sequel, I think they explored the setting in the way they wanted and its a done deal, however if any day they have to dig into their IPs to make cash, it would be neat angle to explore the clair obscur setting again

Remember remember
33 of December

So I'm really retarded and I need help explaining what the purpose of the gommage was

Where's the Maelle Axon? The 4 there correspond to the other members of the family

Visages: Verso
Sirene: Aline
Reacher: Clea
Old Lumiere: Renoir

Has anyone tried NG+?
What's it like?

reacher is maelle, old lumiere is clea, renoir didnt paint himself

I think the "actually, the Writers did it" might be a joke by the writers rather than an invitation for a sequel.
But if they do make a sequel, I hope it's from the Writers perspective.

Renoir was deleting the canvas, but aline's was protecting people with her chroma, however clea backstabbed aline somehow and she was leaking chroma, which meant aline could protect less and less over time, the numbers were just an abstraction of who she could protect

You're in Act 3 right? If not fuck off from Anon Babble.
Renoir's just destroying Aline's creations of her escapist fantasy until nothing's left so she gives in and leaves.

Reacher is Maelle. Did you even listen to the conversation in that area? They constantly talk about how it is a metaphor for Maelle to reach for the sky or something.

Yes I'm certain the "writers" are just a fourth wall element of the actual game writers.

The Reacher is Alicia/Maelle anon.
Clea is the one who is absent.

gommage is a byproduct of aline losing her powers each year because when a nevron (real clea/renoir creations) kill expeditioners their chroma stays in teh body. aline doesn't get the chroma back she used to paint people and gets weaker because of it, so every year she has to let the older creations go and uses the monolith as a warning of who's next

The same as your last ~10 hours of NG, Maelle oneshotting everything

Did you speedrun the game?

I used a weapon that gave her two random stains at the beginning of a turn if no stains were present (lvl 20 weapon ability of I recall correctly).
Skills were: Immolation, the cheap earth skill, Thermal Transfer, Heal, the lightning skill that buffs others (seriously, this one of fucking great), elemental genesis.
Chances were high I only had to use the lightning skill and then could unload genesis straight away for good damage. Carried me while grinding on the Dark Shore.

Personally I think she sucks, though. Sure starts out good (first AoE skill), then becomes a heal bot, then you can use her for genesis, but I'm the end she's just so much worse than Verso/Maelle.
Generally the endgame becomes very Aim/Attack heavy with all the lumina skills, so she just falls off pretty hard.

Same, tired of seeing everything milked. Let something stand on its own as an instant classic. Create something entirely new, as this was.

clea's is dead in old lumiere

shut up bitch, Justice for Simon

While this could very well be true, it would not fit with alicia being blamed for verso's death, as if she befriended and trusted an actual "writer" in universe

The Final Fantasy that we've all deserved for at least 20 years had to be made by 30 former Ubisoft French developers … well done, Square Enix.

Old Lumiere is Clea and Reacher is Alicia.
The Axons are all Real Renoir painting his hopes and thoughts on his family members, he didn't paint an Axon version for himself.

gommage isn't by the paintress, but renoir trying to wipe out everything in the painting
the number she writes is just a warning to the people indicating she can't keep sustaining/protecting those past a certain point
when she's forced to concede them, renoir immediately kills them
since one happens right after the other, they believe she's responsible for the yearly killing

You think Verso's is the good ending because it's the best outcome for the family.
I think Maelle's is the good ending because it's the worst outcome for the family.

We are not the same.

Yeah this story does not need a sequel, but the combat system does in a new world.

Its FF tactics all over again

Painter-Renoir wants to erase the Canvas and starts with the stuff Painter-Aline drew ontop of it - the human civilization.
Painter-Aline is trying to stop him but her power is slowly fading so she can only protect a certain number of people and decided the fairest way to do it is by age. The number on the Monolith is what her current limit of her protection is, everyone above that gets erased by Painter-Renoir.

This, druggies deserve the shit they do to themselves

nah let them do something new there too, I like the combat system but its a gimmick

I would argue its not FF tactics entirely because verso just wants off the wild ride and his worry for maelle is secondary

Clea talks a lot of shit but she's just as bad as the rest of her family, just in the opposite direction

Verso is the good ending because it's what's best for everyone left alive in the Canvas at that point, which is really just him.

Renoir loves to paint in metaphors

he depicts Clear carrying the entire world in her shoulders

Even he knew she was the only one that would keep her cool and fuck over the wr*ters while the rest of them were fucking around in the Canvas

The lives of those within the canvas are worth more than the family.

Any frogs in this thread can please translate what is being said at white sands?

large.jpg - 1280x720, 59.6K

Monoco

which is really just him.

And Lune, Sciel, Esquie, Monoco, the rest of the gestrals, and those rock people at the station.

Lune

And it was all a dream

If they make another game in this franchise out of anyone that's present in E33 I hope they put Clea in.
She's by far the most interesting character.

According to you

Can you beat him?

umad.webm - 1920x1080, 2.59M

Wrigger's hands typed this post

How is the scaling in this? Do you ever hit a point where Maelle doesn't just 1 shot everything?

tfw your son is dead, your daughter is disfigured and your wife is addicted to The Sims VR

hq720.jpg - 686x386, 22.52K

I don't think they will ever touch the dessendres again, because that would open interpretations to what end was pursued.
Sure they could explore Clea adventure while maelle grew up within the canvas, but we don't even know how long that took in the real world

does nothing for her family

shits on Alicia

shits on Renoir for wanting to save his wife (her mother btw)

creates Nevrons to massacre Expeditioners

ruins Simon's life

10/10 bitch

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind too.

He received power ups from both Aline and Clea.

Have you read his journal? He was powered up by irl Clea

And your other daughter is an asshole (she does care for the family but she is basically an Asuka).

Your daughter also wants to be addicted to the sims VR

Renoir is the biggest victim in this story

(real) Clea gave him giga juice and sent him at the Paintress

cillian murply screaming with gun to head gif

Simon

Funny, the other Simon I know literally made an energy being bigger than the fucking universe.

I'm sure they had this idea of going with gods initially but they pivoted into painting.
Because you could just change the dessendres for greek-like gods and it would work aswell

never, scaling is completely fucked. Maelle can deal tens of billions of damage, Simon caps out at like 50 million. The only way to restore a hint of balance is using a damage cap mod.

I'm surprised by how many alleged JRPGfags are suddenly supportive of the viewpoints of the endgame villains

the deity who is above you wants you all to die for its convenience, and since you're not people to them, submit now

38679.png - 788x753, 1003.98K

The reason why i think the Old Lumiere is Renoir is because the final room in the Manor. When you unlock it, Old Lumiere and Sirene are shown on either side of the door. Also in the shifting picture in the middle is an image of a man and a woman.

I interpreted The Reacher as a standin for Clea but a metaphor for Alicia to comprehend.

Yeah the initial one about reaching for the stars & ever reaching aligned more with Clea then Alicia.

Yet he failed? LMAO.

I think Clea has a good chance of showing up again (if they even have a sequel set in the same world instead of going a Final Fantasy route) considering she wouldn't really give a shit about what happens to Alicia either way.

Father trying to keep his family together and move on from grieving while he himself is mourning

A rare example of a modern game viewing father figures as good

a real frenchman would have just found another woman
one from his era would have just started nailing his eldest instead

just because Japanese people are retarded children who want to stay eternal teenagers doesn't mean everyone else are

They can do shit about it, they were created by verso, and are living in borrowed time because Maelle is plugged to the VR gear, as soon as maelle dies to painting aids Renoir will bulldoze the canvas in the same day

Maelle mentions how she has vertigo which she thinks ruins the metaphor. So it's about her.

There are no real winners or losers in this story, that’s the difference

I wish. He looks too good in his black tux anyway, so its fine.
donezo
The only boss I didnt one-shot with a correct coin flip roulette was Simon2, took two 56m~ hits

People appear to be stuck in the trap thinking that the events/people in the canvas are not real.

its really telling desu

Maelle is no better, Verso has the least power and the most stake in the situation, so I align with him

define "real"

What do I do in this place?

I'm sure they had this idea of going with gods initially

Anon, the game is called Clair Obscur
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiaroscuro

Are you a vegan?

I like how you all debate over which of the endings is "right" (none of them is, both are extremely gray and subjective), the last time we had a situation like this THE WHOLE WORLD was against the one that wanted to destroy and he was the only choice.

As real as a junkie next high

He was some guy that fell in love with painted Clea that got a power up from real Aline to defeat Renoir and then real Clea didn't like him fucking a painted version of her so she manipulated him and gave him another power up to prune the painted Clea and Clea-Axon and defeat real Aline/Renoir to force them back home.
So he has buffs from both Painters Aline and Clea and the way Renoir talks about her she's far more talented and powerful than anyone else in the family too.

im a marche fag
fuck escapists
fuck the canvas people
accept reality

Oh shit!! I hadn’t put that together!

No, you see, the deity who created everything's remaining avatar wants it all gone because it hurts! So we need to destroy everything since it's the right thing to do!

I'm a total lover of jrpgs btw

As in, the people within the canvas are conscious and react as so to the events that happen within their world.

Clea is a mean bitch

I can't believe that the French accidentally bought fucking Marche back to relevancy.

Verso's ending is better

Maelle's ending is pure fucking kino.

The people are already all dead. Maelle-Alicia wants to bring them back to suffer in her own self made purgatorial doll house until the next inevitable apocalyptic event happens.

if you like JRPGs, you can only accept one singular story in them

ever

in this mindset, Verso's ending is objectively the correct one since you are a creation fighting God for your right to self-determination

The funny thing is that metaphor had this same theme and yet nobody gave a fuck about it

I'm inclined to agree with how much things like the neutral path and even chaos path in SMT get fellated here

If the Japanese like this game (retail editions are sold put right now), where is the fanart?

What? No, the world of Methaphor was the future of a post apocalyptic earth, not a "fake" world.

She just doesn't like her mother's fanfiction and is tired of all the bullshit.
It's honestly really fucking disrespectful of her mom to ship her with some random dude that's probably not even to her tastes just because she's pissed at her husband.

Its amazing what you can achieve with good writting and characters that arent just walking anime tropes

Metaphor story was way too overhanded and preachy.

This
Verso is the stand-in for the teenage japanese party wanting to be free of tyrannical gods

smt morality is complete dogshit, the writers at atlus needs an actual philosophical education or something idk how they can keep being so incoherent every time

It's harder to draw realistic looking characters than near identical looking anime waifu #38101

Inb4 a DLC reveals that Simon is actually real and he still has that fabulous hair.

no one is suffering except Punished Verso

Best part of the game is the very annoying "... " grunt Verso gives Maelle once she mentions missing Gustave in one of her convos
Even your real sister prefers Chadstave than you
Even better knowing Gustave was painting to literally look like his clone

Clea killing wriggers game when?

the deity who is above you wants you all to die for its convenience, and since you're not people to them, submit now

f40.jpg - 908x763, 407.88K

play it again retard, you clearly didn't read the story

Chances are it's not an accident. The creator is a big FF fan.

I think that's the manor we enter via all the doors around the continent. It's a shame we couldn't enter the front door there.

It's honestly really fucking disrespectful of her mom to ship her with some random dude

The painted Dessendres still have free will. Look how Clea massacred her painted self.

Yet Elden Ring got shitloads of Japanese fanart?

is this game "short"?

it's sincere, which is more than can be said about the rest of atlus's wishy washy slop

mom paints fanfics of you fucking a himbo

clea did nothing wrong

I don't think Aline made Simon to be Painted Clea's boyfriend, it just happened (because painted people have free will)

Good fucking luck without that!

Only if you rush the main quest, it has a fuckton of side content and rewards you for going back to even earlier areas later after you unlock more exploration abilities

Is 50 hours "short"?

Its about 40-50 if you do the side content and don't rush like a retard.

it's like 20 hours for the main story, 40-50 with side content

I still haven't seen a single video of someone doing it without any of the cheesy damage stacking shit on Expert. Simon is fucking brutal if you don't, like genuinely might be one of the hardest mainstream video game challenges ever

Take away all the maelle cheesegraters and this drops to less than 0.01%
Motherfucker is nigh impossible for boomers like me

If you only do the main story around 30 hours, if you do all the side content around 70 hours, most people will be somewhere between those two.

If you have to limit yourself to make it hard it's not hard

All it took is one guy famously known for parrying shit in sekiro

Still minmaxed everything he could to make his Parries hit as hard as possible.

Damage stacking cheese, only hit like 150 parries in a row, used Maelle. Didn't beat the boss.

Way more honest than one-shotting simon due to a bugged skill scaling

chose versos ending but honestly who can fault maelle?

live in fantasy world where you can be whatever you want / create whatever relationships you want

stay in there for 50 years

come out and sleep for a few days to recover

go back in

yeah ill take that shit over a 9-5 any day

bugged skill scaling

is it really?

An unfortunate bit of… collateral damage.

*bounces*

goober.webm - 1920x1080, 2.71M

I honestly believe simon might be the hardest jrpg boss ever made if you don't cheese him.
130 parries in simon is not achievable by normal people

anyway before I go to bed someone fact check me on this trophy

first level - Jar dude, find resin, give and light, he leaves

waterworld - find the mine dude, get a mine, give the mine and leave him alive

smol borgeon - feed him skin, he spits out a reward, leave him alive

cliffs - hexga, find three rocks, give, get reward, leave him alive

quarry - toot toot dude, parry his red shit, be given reward, leave him alive

ruins - whispy dude, do maze, get wood, give wood, get reward and leave him alive

snowcano - dancer, did parry test, got costume, left her alive

red wood - fountain bro, pay him four times, he gets up and gives me reward, leave him alive

cemetary - sad knight, pick his weapon, fight him, kill him because thats what he actively wants, get reward

fountain - handman loves your work, get paid, leave him alive

also talked to them all for post-quest dialogue where available and clicked leave
also did

village - gestral kid quest for mushroom, boss fight, reward

carousel - fixed it and got reward

did I miss something or do a step wrong here somewhere.
convinced the trophy is bugged in NG+ and I lost a day of my life to this.

anyone got the music of us arriving in lumia to fight daddy?
its a remix of this one youtube.com/watch?v=OWate4IdV7M

Stendahl scales way harder than anything else in the game and vastly outstrips any enemy's health by a factor of thousands, there's something up with it

i read the main story is 20ish hours at best

She wouldn't ever leave for fear of her family destroying the Canvas. She's a stunted child that has lived two 16 year old childhoods. She's gonna want to make the easy choice, the one with the least personal suffering. It's obvious and understandable, just doesn't make it right

ongbal is a fraud who posts tool assisted videos without a disclaimer, prove me wrong

The devs will never admit it, and may never patch it because its just a single player game, but stendahl have a way higher scaling than other skills, like, magnitudes higher scaling, its not normal

The thread's about to die at 530+ posts, anon. You'll have more luck posting it on a fresh new thread

reminder that if you played on normal or were stendhal maxxing with a one shot sciel/maelle combo you didn't beat the game

Speedrunners are retarded

>cemetary - sad knight, pick his weapon, fight him, kill him because thats what he actively wants, get reward

I'm so sorry anon

Are all the costumes DLCs? Are there any DLCs at all?

has anyone datamined the attack values for skills, is Stendahl really stronger than say Gommage or just easier to pull off?

removes shields

removes dead party members

Only options are cheese and to dodge/parry which isn't a JRPG thing. Imagine parrying demi-fiend to death, that's just not a thing.

I get your point but I just dont necessarily think living 80 years of a perfect life in a canvas before dropping dead on the outside is worse than living a mediocre life outside

i really need a minimap, it's the most important thinn on a jrpg

My first playthrough I told him to live and find a new purpose and he was pissed and wouldnt talk to me and there was no quest reward, is that really the 'correct' version?
I should have gotten the trophy last time if that's the case.

if i posted the ones i saw by nips, i'd get a vacation

Yeah, don't kill him if you want the 100 lumina.

No DLC, but there was a preorder set of costumes. Every other outfit and hairstyle are ingame rewards.

It’s an insane fight, reminds me of Yozora. Potentially worse.

guy knows that the family is fake as fuck

knows that the real version of him is going to destroy the painting

fuck it

make sure that his fake family can do whatever they want before the painting world dies

you should've gotten the achievement when Hand Man was happy and gave you 100 Lumina

It truly is retarded isn't it? The people defending Verso's ending and I could literally be in a similar situation right now. We have no proof we aren't in a painting or a simulation or just living in a god's myriad worlds. I'm not down with whoever is above me just deleting me cuz he feels like it. So I'm not gonna do it if given the choice to do just that.

no, QTE the game

Looks best on Sciel

Is the preorder set costume unavailable? Was it really that impressive?

No DLC, but there was a preorder set of costumes

Not preorder. Deluxe edition. You can still get them if you pay 10€ extra.

None of us are bound to eternal service trying to make our creator God feel less sad

How many times?
The moral question of "are they alive" doesn't matter. They're dead, the world is doomed regardless, why bring them back for a few decades of hopelessness?

You can still get them if you pay 10€ extra.

is it relevant for the game itself? or it just basically a donation

I'd cross that bridge when I came to it, but as an outside witness there's no way in hell I'm letting Verso keep suffering and Maelle keep turning a blind eye to the reality of her brother's death and the grieve that should've come from that which she denies herself content to live in unhealthy fantasy

See thats the difference between verso chads and maelle gooners.
Verso chads accept their mortality and wouldn't seethe at some cosmic entity if they decided to end it all
Maelle gooners have to keep playing dollhouse forever because they love warm tendies straight out of the microwave too much

why bring them back for a few decades of hopelessness

Everyone except Verso looked happy in Maelle's ending.

I got the 100 Lumina this time too though
Im convinced you dont need to do every quest to get that reward though, last time I did some of the quests after talking to that guy and getting paid. Either theres a threshold for having done 'enough' of them or he just checks whatever ones you've done before talking to him.
Weird. You left him alive and got the trophy? I'll try doing all of them in their entirety, leaving him alive, and making sure to talk to the hand guy definitely last.
next time

it's just costumes and giving them like $7 (after the Gabe tax)

Well there you go

It's straight up just the costumes in that pic. That's it

Probably because they're blissfully ignorant of what will happen once Alicia dies.

Maelle looked happy because she's mainlining heroin

You would do more damage if you put your might points into luck and defense.

that's it? no more bonuses? from 10 bucks?

Maelle didn't look happy at all in her ending, what you talking about.

but you're going to die decades from now, so it makes sense to kill you right this second anyway

So are you. You are literally gonna be dead in 70 years. Why aren't you offing yourself now? You can't survive, it's hopeless!!!! Fucking retards I swear to god.
You literally can't prove that.

Seems like a great deal for them. Get to live decades more in blissful ignorance or die early without even knowing why.

There is a difference with accepting your mortality and killing yourself right away because death is inevitable anyway. Humans and all living creatures are hard wired to try to survive as long as possible. People who kill themselves are not normal.

And if we could prove that? If we had literal, objective proof in the form of one god then another stating out loud that that is our sole purpose? What then?

Obligatory reminder that renoir already killed 90% of the population of the canvas, the gestrals don't give a fuck, the grandis are nearly extinct and esquie is ok with anything verso decides because he knew the original verso too much

A life without hope of any legacy, no matter how small, isn't worth being called life. That is the nature of life and reality, and what ultimately makes Verso's Canvas "not real".

They can comeback, so them being dead doesn't mean anything.

It's just a small incentive to give to the devs if you want to play doll slightly more with your party. The game has like 8 outfits per character at least even without these.

Did he have sex with the paintress?

isn't worth being called life

That's your own opinion.

Verso ending Alicia can just bring everyone back in a new canvas

So? They can repopulate. People can fuck, get pregnant and give birth in this world. It is indistinguishable from real life.
Our universe is bound towards that end too. That's literally what entropy is. The timeframe is just very different.

the replies mentioning it will all fall apart later anyway

it looks like you hit it on the head

Why do you continue to fight against the current? Mankind is doomed to inevitable oblivion regardless of your fight here. Now or a thousand years, it matters not. The end will come regardless. At least this ending will be merciful.

That would be a different canvas. Without Verso's soul as fuel. Who knows if they would be the same.
We also don't know if Alicia is skilled enough to create an entire canvas herself.

Imagine your wife cheating on you with a clone of you she created

your brother fucking gets killed by a rival magical fantasy

instead of seeking vengance your cuck of a mom who is way more powerful than you is living in her fantasy world with your fake family

your sister, who got your little brother killed is acting like a useless fucking brat and you wish she died instead of him

your dad is full of fucking grief and is not helping you since, he way more busy fucking invading mom fake world to try to pull her out of her grief, so they can grief together

the writer family is still dancing around and going for a second attack more likely because you

clea is the only one who is being real here. the real world matters way more

No. It is a reality check. Literally.

The timeframe is just very different.

Yes, a timeframe of billions of years in which to possibly pass the filter of entropy and heat death is very different from a few decades extra time for a tiny pocket dimension.

We also don't know if chroma can be transferred from one canvas to the next. And if we're going that route might as well speculate that it could be possible to save the current canvas somehow.

clea says alicia would just stay in her room all day reading

writers caused the incident

fire consuming verso

did they rig the book to blow or something
what the fuck

It's really not. Besides, that is assuming there is literally 0 possible solutions to save the people of the canvas, which we can't prove because we lack information. And the end of the world happening in 50 years or in a billion years is literally irrelevant because the end only matters to those who are alive to witness it.

Why was Verso in Alicia's room in the first place?

if they can be deleted and recreated by the whims of a god, then them being alive doesn't mean anything either.
Verso's ending is him making a choice, difficult and destructive as it may be, to reaffirm that he is a real person with a will of his own.
Maelle's ending is removing Verso's free will, and reaffirming that the painted people are not real and ultimately do not matter in the eyes of the Painters (any Painters, including Maelle).

The mother is basically too powerful to be stopped
the dad found out if he focus on making chromo disapper, she cant keep up this forever
mom realize that okay its impossible, so her best course of action is to protect the younger ones first and allow the old people to die first
33% of her powers was what she had left and the painting had

saving her from the fire presumably

then them being alive doesn't mean anything either

It matters to them

to reaffirm that he is a real person with a will of his own.

By removing the will of everyone else in the canvas.

she was stuck

What is all this "being" stuck in paints shits?

It matters to them, but it does not matter to the Painters. And Verso makes a choice that effects everyone, yes, but he still makes a choice. He demonstrates his free will. He is a creation denying the will of his creator. In a world absent the Painters, he is killing Sciel and Lune to soothe his own soul, but in a world with them, he is freeing them from slavery to the the Painters, whether it looks like slavery or not. It's all very gnostic.

130 parries in simon is not achievable by normal people

It's just practice and muscle memory. It's not an issue of it being achieveable or not by "normal people," it's a question of time investment. Not many people are going to spend hours practicing something they could just skip entirely.

apparently operations costs in Montpellier are dirt cheap. Why aren't more devs banding together and starting their own studios in cheaper areas?

it takes a level of bravery most people don't have to quit your well-paying job and throw everything you have at a project with no guarantee of success.

My only problem with Maelle End is Verso being there despite how clear his will and intentions are to Maelle at the end, I think its fine to bring everyone from the Canvas back and live fulfilling lives for as long as they feasibly can, but bringing back any Painted Dessendres is an awful thing to do to them.

Its skill itself is fine, the issue is that it's a single powerful hit, which makes it scale extraordinarily hard with all the modifiers from Lumina/Pictos since it's all multiplicative. Other characters have similar skills they can use, Maelle is just a special case since she has Last Chance which lets her use her big nuke with another 200% damage mod every other turn while simultaneously triggering the other Luminas that boost damage at low HP.
You can hit similar numbers with other characters too, it's just not as quick and hassle free.

my only problem with the deliberately morally ambiguous ending is that it's too morally ambiguous

She says something about him being able to find happiness if he could grow old so she probably painted a verson of him that is actually gonna age and die. He's clearly not happy about it but at least he can take solace in the fact his death is now inevitable. Retard could just fuck Lune, have kids and find joy instead of being a sulking retard. Maybe Maelle should just bring back Julie to keep him quiet.

Are you dense? He can't die if the painter doesn't let him. Maelle didn't allow him to die, she just allowed him to age. Jesus

implying she wouldn't just keep bringing him back over and over until she dies herself
