Most other franchises don't have the combat focus, variety of protagonists/antagonists, and variety of settings required for a musou. Fire Emblem got a warriors game but no one cared. Mario doesn't have the right tone, Pokemon could work but making that many skeletons is a hassle, Kirby only recently tried being 3D with mixed results, Animal Crossing wouldn't work, Splatoon would just be Salmon Run, and then you're looking at shit like Donkey Kong or Star Fox.

my main issue with these is that after Hyrule Warriors Legends, they forgot the whole appeal to begin with was the What-If timeline crossover aspect, being able to pick up Skull Kid and Princess Ruto and take them against Zant and Ghirahim felt incredibly unique. meanwhile the HW games after are entirely centered around ONE game in a timeline instead of many at once. the FE Warriors games also havr this problem to a degree, being 3ds title-centric instead of celebrating the whole franchise. If they made a Xenoblade Warriors or a Kirby Warriors or something, i wouldn’t be surprised if they pull the same shit and have them be based only around XB2 or Kirby Forgotten Land while ignoring everything else and shrugged their shoulders.

Musou games pit you against hordes of enemies and typically involve making tradeoffs of what objectives or locations can be deprioritized or sacrificed while you pursue your primary goals. For something like Fire Emblem that's part and parcel for the main series. Zelda has society collapsing to the forces of darkness as the backstory for half the games. Mario is never out there killing goombas because the goombas are evil and a material threat to the mushroom kingdom. They could certainly make it work, similar to how the Mario x Rabbids games apparently made X-Com combat work, but it'd be a veneer over a mechanical frame rather than something compelling about the Mario world intrinsically.
Kirby would work well, every rival and villain has attacks that translate into a musou game perfectly. only issue would be Kirby himself, but you can always make a new gimmick for him like the robobot armor.
Anon, Super Mario Bros. 1 had Bowser invading and taking over the Mushroom Kingdom, kidnapping Peach and forcing Mario and Luigi to step in to save them. Every level you fight Bowser's minions, and each world ends with you liberating a castle from his forces.
That also describes most games in the series. And that's not even getting into the various Mario RPGs where you have even more villains who take over various places.

If it's like Age of Calamity then yeah because it will only have characters from those games. Do take Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition into consideration if you end up playing more Zelda games, it's a fun mashup.

This, I am a huge Zelda fan and botw/totk defender, but i already have musou fatigue, and i only played both HW games. As you might guess, i only played these games because they were Zelda related, and they didn't sold me on the genre as a whole to made me try another Warriors/musou games. Wish they reach Platinum Games for next Zelda spin offs instead

I just want the "Wild" era to be over. For a decade, it's about all we've gotten barring remakes and Echoes of Wisdom. I'm hoping in February when the franchise turns 40, we'll get the trailer for the next big 3D title that will give us a new Hyrule and finally detach fully from this one.
