Look, I beat this game and played it for over a 100h, and I can 100% say that there were times I couldn't even look at the cutscenes because of how cringy some sections were, BUT the game is gorgeous, the gameplay is amazing, and the OST is one of the best I've heard, so I gave it a pass. Good game, weird anime shit, but it was expected.

It heavily depends on the artstyle of the artist they work with.
For me that's Nomura's main strength. His style can be detailed but also rather "simple" for texture and model artists to translate into 3D and he absolutely shines at being the middle-man between an artist with a next to impossible to adapt artstyle and the model artists, his redesigns of the Amano characters in the first Dissidia are probably his best works.

So I'm playing Xenoblade 2 for the first time. It's pretty fun, I like it. I just made it to Fonsett Village today. The literal years of "JAPANESE HUMOR" shitposting was way overblown, even to a brain on anime like me. The character designs are very apparently geared towards what the artist finds sexy or appealing and honestly, fair enough. I don't think artists or character designers should be chided for making the game they want to make especially if the criticism is that the designs are cringe.
With that being said, it does lead to some awkward moments. There's a Heart to Heart where Pyra and Bridget stumble onto Tora's closet with very sexy clothing intended for Poppi. And it's used to shit in Tora for being a creep and wanting to dress up Poppi in skimpy clothes. Now this is a trope and in a vacuum I don't have a problem with it. Except that these criticisms are coming from fucking Pyra and Bridget. Pyra's outfit is only 2 steps away from being lingerie and Bridget's extremely form fitting dress has a whole boob window that extends down to her naval with a missing back. All that to say is I feel like when this argument comes up about Xenoblade 2 and games like it, there's this weird apprehension to just say "I like this extremely sexy design." There's always moral grandstanding behind it be it censorship on one side and cheap tittilation on the other.

XC2 sold 2.7 million physically and has had a lot of stock shortages especially in Japan, I think it's fair to say it has sold 4 million including digital sales.
XC1 OG probably only sold about 150k overall, the 3DS port sold about 50k, combine that with about say 2.5 million sales of XCDE physical + digital and that's less than 3 million.

So I'm not crazy! I have a Water Gauntlet Blade that heals with every hit as well as creating potions constantly. But when I switched her out with Kora, it felt like I was dying and pulling aggro far more often. I presumed it was just that the enemies were stronger in Lefteria
Morag is a dodge tank, so she's more of a Tora replacement than anything. Rex is always a good one to keep in your party for the simple fact that he'll be the one dishing out the most damage until late game, at which point you can basically play as anyone you so choose with the proper blade setup

Morag is similar to Dunban, has the highest Agility stat for evasion tanking, if you use Brighid then she has decent personal damage and capable of shitting some big numbers as the fight goes on thanks to the War Pyre passive, except it kinda forces you to not equip other blades(it resets on switch) on Morag unless you want to control her. You should strongly consider this option, Brighid can absolutely make the difference when her additive is stacked high enough from all the dodging.
Leftheria enemies are stronger but also yeah, Kora is very eeeh.

Not true, Brighid is in base game and literally does more damage for dodging, which in turn means both having aggro and making the fight shorter. Theory is also pretty good for main game but scales poorly for everything else.

My guess is that the release plan will go as follows:
Xenoblade 1 DE, Xenoblade 3 (+ Future Redeemed), and Xenoblade X DE will get free performance patches.
Xenoblade 2 (+ Torna) will get a Switch 2 Edition release that improves performance, revises the UI, and adds some general gameplay improvements. I don't believe that they're going to give it a 10th anniversary Definitive Edition version, but it definitely still needs some fine tuning under the hood to make it a better game overall. Streamlining field skills and affinity trees alone would improve it considerably.
While I have issues with the others games, I don't think they had as many idiosyncrasies as 2 did even after all of its patches. That being said a patch that fixed fast travel music and allowed me to the chain attack./menu themes in 3 would also be greatly appreciated.

Depends. If you use Corvin then even BoC isn't that big of a deal, otherwise prepare to get shat on.
It adds the rage strike mechanic(enemy will do +400% on the next art used after enraging and drain party gauge PER HIT) and nerfs chain attacks(they mostly stay at 100% ratio, partially due to a bug) to motivate you into trying different strats.
DoTs and fusion combos are the most obvious replacement, but on NG it WILL become frustrating if you aren't using Corvin. Seals stop being optional and become very much the only way to get through certain fights, since you can't afford to receive shit like shackle driver/blade and expect to not get party wiped in seconds, and you might want to grind for good accessories even for story battles like the one in Temperantia where you have to break the wires.
Always save up party meter, lv4 specials and evasion arts for strong enemy attacks and finally don't avoid encounters. Art recharge pouch items are basically obligatory.

I don't see why that would be necessary with how deeply integrated they are with Nintendo's R&D department (they are practically the lead engine devs for the entire company).
