Which mainline Final Fantasy game do you think is the most enjoyable?
Which mainline Final Fantasy game do you think is the most enjoyable?
9
9 is the only one I actually finished
5 or 7(with mods).
III is picrel incarnate.
For me it was FFX. I had the PAL edition though so I had all the sidequest/dark aeon/penanc stuff to get stuck into from day 1.
In 2000's yes, but that 15 second load yime is unplayable today.
6 is my favorite, beautiful game.
Most underrated for sure. What pisses me off is the amount of zoom zooms who discover 5, call it amazing, than scoff at 3 like your pic related.
3 stinks
I remember watching a playthrough of 4 as a kid and being really wowed by it.
Is that what got you into JRPGs? For me it was watching a friends older bro play Breath of Fire 3 and it looked fucking awesome at the time.
You make a lot of dogshit ff threads, you know that?
Playing BoF3 for me. Game is mid to the core but was mind-blowing to the uninitiated and has a wholesome 90's awesomeness that I just love more with time. It's been 5 years, I keep thinking I should do another run.
Putting my friends in and playing as Vikings will always be peak kino to me. I did hear the remake was bad.
V and anybody who says otherwise, I will fight them.
Final Fantasy 10 and 7 are my favourites, though that's really that controversial I am basic
Yeah there's nothing particular amazing about it but it has a lot of charm and stuff to do, really helps that only the environments are 3D so it hasn't aged as horribly as most ps1 games. I replayed it last year and the random encounter rate was so goddamn bad compared to what I remembered, but otherwise still a fun game.
5 just for being able to fuck around with the Job system.
6 and 7 might be better games and stories, but they don't give you the same kind of freedom that 5 has.
Some freedom sure, of a different kind, giving you lots of party members to build your team from. But there's really no other FF where you can do something silly like a White Mage with a side of Ranger or Samurai.
Id rather be stuck in a room with you than the delusional 8 fags.
I also think 10 was the beginning of the end and in my bottom 33% so we can have a conversation. Why 10 over 9?
This is going to be controversial, but I had the most fun playing FFXII
5
I recently replayed 9 for the first time in 15 years and I want to say that, but I still think 5 is the most well rounded Final Fantasy game in the entire franchise
It even features the refined job system
9 because it's the comfiest FF and arguably the best. People are still discovering hidden things in that game more than 20 years later.
Is there any reason 3 took so long to get rereleased? I was looking at the PS1 versions of the games recently and realized it's the only one they didn't port for some reason.
Id get it if 2 was missing but if it's just 3 that's weird. Only thing I can think of is it doesn't have any characters for their spinoff shit.
Yeah, 4 was the one for me.
But where do you rank 3?
9, followed by 10, 12 pseudo MMO mechanics hooked me so hard I played the game for like half a year
For me, its XI
They didn’t release a 3rd in America until VI which they called III
in terms of replayability I think 5 is undefeated like most people are saying here
but I think my first playthrough of 7 last year was the most enjoyable
I played 7 first, and I would say 10 is the best.
16>X>1>6>9
At the bottom. Story is kinda dull except at the start and end(floating Island and Warriors of Darkness were cool), and the job system was halfbaked. Little reason not to stick to a 2nd tier job through the whole thing.
I don't blame it too hard, because the 3rd entry in a series that lasts that many entries tends to be a little, thin. A return to the form of the first game, with the lessons learned from the unorthodox 2nd entry, a lot like Zelda except LTTP wasn't mid at best.
Where it belongs
2 was packaged with the first game. 3 was just never released on PS1. The 3 collections they released on PS1 were 1 and 2, 4 and Chrono Trigger, and 5 and 6. It was strange.
That has nothing to do with what I'm talking about
I really like the pacing of X
1 is also super replayable
X or 7
V and IX in S Tier
Based
VII in S Tier
I'd put it in B tier at best
VI and X in A tier
Okay, I can accept that
XVI in A tier
Uhh...
XIV in A tier
Again, I can accept that
IV, I, and VIII in B tier
VIII makes sense, I and IV not so much
XII in C tier alongside II
Swap XVI's placement with XII's placement
III, XV, and X-2 in D tier
No arguments here
XIII and its sequels are so shit, they have their own tier ranking
Fucking Kek.
XI is unranked
That makes sense, nobody really touches XI since its a bitch and a half to even make an account to play it at all compared to XIV
4, 6 and 7 (at least the first disc).
1, 3, and 5 are cool too but not quite as good.
All the ones following 7 are bad, they do not resemble final fantasy in any way, shape or form. And they seem utterly confused about what sort of game they want to be.
Tactics>7>6>9>3>5>7R-2>16>7R>15>X-2>12>1>2>10>8>4>Origins>GBA Tactics>13>Crystal
What did the first one ever do to you!
All the ones following 7 are bad, they do not resemble final fantasy in any way, shape or form. And they seem utterly confused about what sort of game they want to be.
I can understand 8 but do you really think that's the case for 9?
fpbp
Just so comfy. Best FF setting is the haunted forest.
If we just do first disc than I think 8 is king. Boy did that game fall.
I don't understand why people say its hard to make an account for XI, literally just follow the onscreen instructions in the installer.
I'm in the process of convincing a friend to get it so we can play together. It won't be down there for too much longer
Whatever happened to all that stuff about 9 getting a remake? I remember seeing threads about how a remake was imminent.
All the ones following 7 are bad, they do not resemble final fantasy in any way, shape or form.
9 is more Final Fantasy than 7
but I had the most fun playing FFXII
even more controvertial: vanilla XII on the PS2 was best. i had such fun.
7(with mods).
disgusting.
There was a cancelled remake for the Wonderswan Color that would've reused a lot of assets from the FF1 remake's WSC port.
7, 8, and 10 were GREAT
7 is the best, obviously, face of the franchise, brought FF into the mainstream
10 is my second favorite, solid story and world bulding, 8 is underrated as hell
5, 6, and 9 were good.
6 easily the best of the three
5 was alright, 9 had charm but didn’t hit me as hard, I emulate them on PC so performance was fine
3 & 4
Played them on my first DS, nostalgia hits hard, simple but comfy, not bad overall
1 & 2
Haven’t touched them yet. No opinion.
11 & 14
MMOs don’t count. If you’re playing these time wasting ERP sims, go outside
MMOs are for people who hate themselves or have nothing better to do
13 and its sequels
Literal garbage, linear corridor simulator, Lightning is overrated af
12
Fucking Trash, Vaan is the most annoying FF protagonist ever, who the hell asked for him? Should’ve made Basch the lead
15
Boyband road trip lmao, Llme characters, cringe writing, vombat was a mess, world was empty, it's among the top 3 worst FF along with 13 and 16
16
Unironically the worst FF ever made, it's so fucking queer and gay
it doesn’t even feel like Final Fantasy at all, more like cheap imitation of DMC with a medieval skin (GOT cheap imitation), soulless, no party system, just pure slop
2 is so bad it circles back again like a B horror movie. There's no wrong place to rank it. You can toad the final boss.
I remember trying to play 2 years ago, and the battle system didn't really feel right to me.
FF16 better than FFX-2
Absolute garbage take, FFX-2 has one of the best battle systems in any JRPG, it's basically jobs+sphere grid and that good that it completely negates the YuRiPa cringe.
the most enjoyable
Do you mean:
Comfy?
Tough choice between III and XIII-2. I'd usually go with III, but I'm feeling XIII-2 today.
Exciting?
VII
Interesting?
V (gameplaywise) & VI (Experiencewise)
Positive?
Tough question again. This series loves misery and depression. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going with IVTAY.
Easy to digest, prechewed, no need for a brain experience?
X
One thing I remember about 4 is that there were a lot of fakeout deaths. It got to the point where I pretty much laughed whenever a "dead" party member reappeared.
All I remember about 4 is it felt like a long fucking game and had way too many airships.
V
It's the only one you can play without worrying about a shitty story changing your rhythm every moment, something that only FF XII-2 and LR also have, but they are light years away from FF V.
I think people got filtered by the fact it's an all girl RPG and that they hid the job system behind dress up.
10, holistically
otherwise 9, 6, or 7, though they have glaring problems with either pacing/content
conversely I could argue that 10-2, 13-2 or 14 are the most enjoyable, but I wouldn't recommend them as if they would be for others
7 resembles FF a lot less than 8 or 10 do, and 9 is basically a combo platter of 1 and 4
8 seems like one of the more forgettable entries.
implying XIII-2 and LR don't both have shitty stories
I disagree, most people I've talked about 8 have strong opinions on it, they either hate it or love it with no in-between
I want to say X out of bias because it's my favorite, but if you include replay value as a factor I might switch over to V, VI, or VII since X doesn't let you skip cutscenes and there are a lot of them.
I've been thinking about giving 3 a try. Is it good?
