It loses a lot of steam after damage cap removal and Cheater Picto because it doesnt stack with it.
I used it for a while but now I use Confuso for free aim burn spam and it's even crazier. You can reach 200+ burns on the first Verso move and double it on every break, making the enemy takes millions damage every turn before it acts.

dualiso with combo attack, ap every turn + ap on base attack means you start with 5/6 ap per turn and hit with free aim for perfection and chance to mark, use your base attack and be on 9 ap after for your either a hard hitting skill or use the skill that lets you play yet another turn and then use a skill
that's 100k per turn with a decent setup and your damage capped in act 2
Maelle doesn't come close to that with virtuous stance and whatever skill

Lune is pretty great until the end of act 2 because elemental genesis can hit 8 times for 9999 whereas other characters would usually do more damage but in a single but can't due to the cap. She chunked the fuck out of most fights for me. But once you start encountering immunes and absorbs and get past the cap it's joever

Sophie was just teasing him in the prologue, I doubt. He's on a soi and "sensitive" side anyway, and hung up on a chick.

His motivations are pretty straightforward: Aline and Alicia. Everything he does is in service of them. In act 3 he's even willing to endure more life for Alicia's happiness and help her defeat Renoir, but when he sees what the canvas is doing to Aline and realizes the same thing will happen to Alicia he sees the canvas destroyed, even at the cost of those he cherishes.
In the prologue Sophie says Gustave and Lune would make a good couple and asks if anything happened between them and Gustave refuses to answer which some would consider an affirmative answer. Gustave was then killed by Renoir, played by Andy Serkis who played Gollum in the Peter Jackson LotR movies

Sounds like maybe he had a fling with her. In the prologue when Sophie tells him they should hook up he just kinda grumbles and Sophie questions if maybe they already had but Gustave dodges the question.

If you're not already, play the game with headphones. It makes the parrying substantially easier because there are audio cues when to parry. Wearing headphones and turning the volume up definitely helps

Not true, what separates people who are good at this game from people who have problems is that the good ones noticed the audio cues and started listening for those instead of looking at the attack animations. And I'm not just saying that there's sound design to the moves where you can triangulate at which point in the waveform the attack occurs, there's literally "ching!" and "swoosh!" sounds before the attacks hit that you press parry on for the correct timing. once you've figured that out you can even successfully parry never before seen strings.

Final Fantasy was THE turn based franchise and XV went under the radar with them separating themselves from TB. But Yoshida getting a ton of attention and interviews, at some point it was inevitable for him to fuck up. Yoshida wasn't wrong about his statements, but players have the last saying and they don't like to be told what they like.

Verso's Free Aim & Dualliste with Combo Attack/Mark/Energising Mark combo wrecks everything once you get the Pictos for it, it's probably the strongest Act 2 build possible.
Maelle becomes laughably brainless with her Arena Weapon, just endless Virtuoso spam with no setup.
Luck Lune pretty much destroys any fight, you just Trick -> Genesis and then use Trebuchim Free Aim stains and Mayhem on anything with an elemental drain.
Monoco's shield generation skills lets you play sloppily against Chromatic assholes and still win, then spam Potier otherwise.
Sciel is like the only balanced character, but her support playstyle is almost as good as Monocos in terms of enabling everyone else.

Maelle has no essence, it's literally just Alicia who was reborn.

Maybe this should be obvious and I'm just stupid. But does Lune's skills such as Storm Caller and Terraquake that activate every turn, last X number of Lune's turns or X number of the enemy's turns?

Painting Verso was okay with his mother using him to grieve until it was clear that it became a problem, hence why he joined real renoir on expedition 00 to kick his mother out of the painting

part of me thought the ending choice would be determined by level/playtime or another metric

you get to choose and have to deal with the dialogue of the other lambasting you for your choice

Storm Caller happens on enemy turns so it counts enemy turns, Terrarquake happens on Lune's so it counts Lune's.

Depends on your top DPS. Abberation is good for supporting a burn focused strategy on Maelle, Cruler supports glass cannon stuff, especially low HP berserker type stuff. His best DPS stuff is not even half as good as the next worst DPS (Lune) so I would stress about it but Dualist is probably his best attack in a general sense

I don't want to put this game down, I don't want it to end. I now understand how Maelle feels even if not to the same degree since it's a videogame and characters are not real. I just want to spend a little more time in this canvas...

I understand the feeling, but I didn't 100% the game. I wanted to, but my urge to jump into NG+ and see Gustave again and rewatch the scenes that were so mysterious before, knowing more context was too strong so that's where I am now. So my first time beating Simon will be on NG+ difficulty lmao. The devs have soft confirmed DLC is on the way though, but it'll take a while. They didn't put it into production until they saw that this game was being well received.

I would guess maybe Expedition 0's journey, killing the Axon of Old Lumiere and making it to the Monolith would be a solid DLC premise.
