Shadow of the Erdtree came out almost a year ago and in that time I haven't seen a single thread about this guy. We're still getting Gael threads but not a single soul has said anything about Messmer

Being a Dark Souls 2 fan is like being transgender.
You are right and should feel valid no matter what chuds say

I don't get the joke

Messmer was too honest of a fight and wasn't the final boss so he didn't embed himself in the collective consciousness

wasn't a bullshit boss like pcr

you fights him mid-way through the dlc

like demon prince, good boss and highlight but he wasn't the finale

He’s not the final boss. There’s tons of threads (bitching) about Consort Radaan.

Maybe you should've been here when it released then.

He's good, almost definitely the best boss in his dlc. I think his p2 is kinda mid. He had a lot of cool choreography that turns into "lol snake".

I just think Gael is hard to beat. Who really compares? Friede, Maria, Gehrman? We could do with some Friede and Maria threads, but I'm ok if the community concensus is Gael is the top

Because he dies like a 3rd way into the DLC and his fight is just honest fun, sidelined also by not being a 1v1, but having Hornsent there with dialogue.

the souls meme has run its course. people don't remember the 50th roly poly guy who flies around the arena.

I never finished it. I saw how everything is just getting to the point of anime battles so I don't care anymore.

So did Marika fucked a snake or it's just another curse to punish her for becoming a god?

Pretty much. Souls bosses are approaching a singularity, where they all more or less feel the same. You can only fight so many relentlessly aggressive oversized humanoids with spammy movesets, giant flat arenas to accommodate their floaty anime AoE attacks, the same toolkit of gigantic gap closer, gigantic backwards hop, ranged punish, heal punish, Souls Grab™, body explosion, and spammy combo that tracks like it's magnetized to your nuts and can be freely canceled at any point, because god forbid the boss has to commit to a move. Eventually they all start to kind of feel the same, and ER definitely reached that point even before the DLC.

I know you are retarded and a subhuman but I'll try to spoonfeed you regardless
Births ever since Marika are completely detatched from having sex, and Melina and Messmer were generated to seal aspects that Marika removed the Elden Ring

Skill issue

Births ever since Marika are completely detatched from having sex

Sauce?

Bro, did you not read the post-it attached to Scrimblo's Nail Clippers you get when you complete Dingli's quest by giving him the Phosphorescent Tumescence? It's all clearly stated there!

These anons are right, retard. Fromsoft is either creatively bankrupt or they don't give a shit anymore.

He was the best boss but there he was just the high middle endpoint of the expansion. He was never talked about in the base game and I don't understand why he was trying to stop you from reaching radahnn in the first place. Then you have to take into consideration that radahn was trying to fuck his own half brother. Who wants to remember that the final boss was a homo weirdo. It unironically turned the coolest boss of the base game into something that severely hurts the entire game by making him a queer incest fag.

When I finished Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 2, and Bloodborne for the first time, I was left wanting more. When I finished Dark Souls 3, I was glad it's finally over. When I finished ER and its DLC, I realized I might be done with Fromsoft games, because it stopped being fun about halfway through.

I guess what I'm saying is that Fromsoft should quit while they're ahead.

Turtle meat is said to boost virility, but none in the Lands Between seem to have much appetite for it these days.

In Lands Between, the urge to reproduce has waned long ago.

It's from the description of the pickled turtleneck in the network test. They removed it by release though

Nah, From gameplay has mostly been improved and refined over the years, especially Elden Ring which gives you so many viable options for builds and tactics.

sote shat up the story
nightreign made it clear the story never mattered

They removed it by release though

So no sauce

I don’t think Messmer was specifically trying to stop us, but progress demands that we undo a large part of his crusade (the shadow-sealing of Enir Illem), he won’t do that willingly, so we kill him and do it ourselves. Also his life’s purpose is killing everyone outside of Marika’s grace, which includes us, even Marika herself brought Tarnished back and restored guidance, no one outside of narrator seems to know that, so are still treated as exiles.

roll roll roll roll

fromsloppers think this is good gameplay

it stopped being fun about halfway through.

Eldem ring is such a bizarre time sink. I've tried to get through it twice with some 100 hours gameplay but just burn out on the samey catacombs levels and the boring combat. Are there any mods that make combat fun without turning the game into a slop power fantasy like convergence

i can't beat rellana

no one outside of narrator seems to know that, so are still treated as exiles

Messmer himself first and the other companions of Miquella later realize that the player is guided by Marika, but Messmer doesn't approve of that so he refuses to help us, and so we have to kill him.

>quick hit

Those are fully charged heavy attacks.

I love how sote destroyed the lore community overnight and then nigreign dabbed on its corpse. They've retroactively damaged all the lore cope over the dark souls games too. embarasing and funny.

The point is about bosses and their choregraphy. Sure gameplay might've evolved from DS1, but what's the point if everything you fight against is some tall dude with a sword doing three front flips per second ? They need to bring back boss and mob variety that doesn't rely only on recycling the same two skeletons and give the players environmental options to defeat foes more.

Those stripped from the grace of gold shall all meet death

I love how sote destroyed the lore community overnight and then nigreign dabbed on its corpse.

What's Duskbloods doing then? Smashing the gravestone? Fromsoft is fucking up so bad with all this Fortnite shit, I hope they come to realize it.

Fromsoft isn't destroying anything, they're just proving what everyone not huffing copium already knew: That the story doesn't matter, and the lore was always just an afterthought. These games never had a story, they never had a fully written world, all they had was some very loose ideas of concepts, emotions, allegories, and moods they wanted to evoke, and every bit of "lore" was written with that in mind. Forming a coherent narrative was never high on the list of priorities, and one could argue that after Demon's and Dark 1, it wasn't on the list at all.

the lore was always just an afterthought

They literally got a well known writer and bragged about it before release and the story still ended up being nonsense. Japanese are incapable of reasonable fiction.

I'm still not sure what the fuck Martin did on that game other than making sure everyone important was related to one another and had names starting with G, R, and M.

Like Bayle, Metyr, Romina, Gaius, the Avatar, the Putrescent Knight, and the Dancing Lion?

the lore community

In which way?

proceeds to post a list with three tall dudes with a sword doing anime moves or being spastic retards out of 7

Lion is also anime crap. It could also be cool to propose something else than crackhead bosses 95% of the time. What about the rest of the bosses/mobs. I'll give you Metyr and maybe Bayle, but what I'm trying to say is they could try harder. Even the frenzied flame boss had a sword, laaame.

There was no lore community. Only a handful of people understand the lore, including me.
The narrative from people too dumb to understand Souls games was that Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls 3 dlcs were complete nonsense and unrelated and Shadow of the Erdtree is the same.
The majority of people are too stupid to piece info together from different sources and contruct the full picture

Shazam lost.

Messmer got a fuckton of threads though.

None of those are tall dudes with swords, they all have movements unfitting of a biped.

but he is jumping and backstepping and involving his slowest attacks thoughbeit?

People didn't understand Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Dark Souls 3 DLCs and Elden Ring.
What makes you think people not understanding Shadow of the Erdtree is any different or a novelty?

holy obliterated

For the names, I think they were going for something similar to Lord of The Rings where many of the characters had very similar names. I constantly got Malenia and Melina mixed up along with Radagon and Radahn. Bosses having variants with slightly different endings to their names did not help in the matter erither.

how are fromdrones not tired of this rollslop shit yet? is it autism?

Gaius, Romina and Putrescent are essentially dudes with swords being spastics, Romina even does the epic delay plungeon attack, like wtf. Romina and Putrescent could have benefited from being slower bosses but playing it more defensively and sneaky. Breaking parts on bosses is also a feature they could use more, Romina having one its heads cut off or Putrescent's horse being killable for exemple, and changing the bosse's moveset afterwards. Whatever, maybe I'm too exigent. Doesn't Putrescent doing his Palpatine spin attack take you out of the game ?

I don't think there will be anything funnier ever than gay pedos screeching how Miquella won't be Griffith and Shadow of the Erdtree being the most literal ripoff of Berserk, while the loud Godwynfags claimed a Demigod with ending would totally get a boss fight.
Souls threads peaked with SotE release, every single faggot who concocted headcanons about Marika, Radagon, Miquella, Godwyn and the Shattering by just looking at 2% of the game and assuming stuff fron there got spat on the face

Souls threads peaked with the early leaks of the Radahn fight, and people claiming it was just an elaborate fake, because surely they wouldn't place the final boss in a generic and boring empty arena, and wouldn't just reuse the transparent crowd pleaser Radahn, because he's dead right, and just look at that moveset of lazily reused DS3 animations, it must be a fake, right? Our precious From would never be this lazy and uninspired!

And then it turned out to be real, and all the faggot Fromdrones tied themselves into knots trying to convince you why it's good, actually.

crowd pleaser Radahn

Fromsoftware never gave the slightest fuck about pleasing any crowd

Outside of the actual design of the areas, I thought the DLC was a bit of a let down.

Right, that's why they started buying into their own hype and referring to their own memes as early as the fucking DS1 DLC ("Prepare to Die", lmao), doubled down on the sniffing of their own farts with DS2 (cackling grannies explicitly referencing how you'll die because the game is hard!), backpedaled on changes to the formula after people shit their britches about DS2's alterations of game mechanics, filled DS3 with endless references to a much better game and had you revisit fan favorite locations, placed a Solaire and Siegmeyer (the two most beloved characters from DS1) expy in every game... and that's just off the top of my head.

But sure, Fromsoft would never pander, surely not!

Missed the point of every single Souls game

Lol

I tried him a few times, got filtered by the anime combos, then left to explore the rest of the map.
Once I had beaten Romina and realised I needed to do Messmer to progress to Radahn, which the entire world was calling the most bullshit boss in Fromsoft history, I just kind of lost interest.
Man, just looking at reminds me exactly why I put it down: tiny damage numbers against a boss with a million leaps and a fast, high damage moveset.
Makes me tired just thinking about it.

no argument

You're saying that the player's options are better than ever, which is true, but it's also true that a lot of ER's bosses felt more like chores, with over-the-top movesets.
The average player isn't going to learn the Dryleaf set to the point that he can time its animations to dodge and attack at the same time.

Easily the boss I spent the most time on.
50+ tries, easily.
In the end, I think I cheesed her first half with rot, poison and a greatshield, then used my Estus advantage to brute force Phase 2 with katana weapon art spam like Unsheathe for poise damage and Double Slash for bleed.

Git gud

Erdtree, more like Turd REEEEEEEEEEEEE

DS1 DLC

is called "Artorias of the Abyss"

DS2

Different director, different take, closer to a "soulslike"

DS3 with endless references

Yes DS3 is a sequel to DS1 and 2.

ER bosses lost that feeling from the previous games where I actually felt like I beat them and turned into "I just want this shit over with". Maybe it's just because I got older.

Nah, I don't want to be gud anymore.
Too old to care at this point.

one handed fist weapon does tiny damage

say it aint so
that webm could probably be accomplished with 5 jump attacks from something big

The average player isn't going to learn the Dryleaf set to the point that he can time its animations to dodge and attack at the same time.

That's his problem

Because he's second banana in his own DLC. He's honestly a fantastic character, probably my second favorite in Elden Ring behind Morgott. He has a compelling backstory, but there's two critical issues with him:
1.) You only kill him to acquire his magical MacGuffin
2.) He has completely withdrawn into his evil tower of death and isn't actively playing a role in the events of the DLC

lost that feeling from the previous games where I actually felt like I beat them

Yeah, I remember the first time I beat Godfrey: zero heals, and one hit away from death. I didn't beat that boss.
The game wore me down so much by the end that I just summoned the Mimic for Malenia so I could watch the credits roll and just put it down.

is called "Artorias of the Abyss"

And it was sold as a bundle in the prepare to die edition

Different director, different take

Same studio

Yes DS3 is a sequel to DS1 and 2

praise le sun xd

it was sold as a bundle in the prepare to die edition

Named by Bamco

Dark Souls III was what people accuse ER of being: too shallow for it's encounters. Normies can't game and hate on these ER because of it.
No one is forcing you to 100% the game. This is the dumbest critcism anons have.

You're right but DS3 having a shitload of references only feels particularly weird because DS2 didn't do that, it's like when the Halloween movies ditched Michael Myers for the third one only to bring him back in Halloween 4 because everyone bitched about there being no Michael Myers, if the games had remained consistent with the references and callbacks it wouldn't have been seen as weird and trying to distance itself from 2

Also anyone that thinks From isn't trying to up the ante with how much bullshit they can get away with because the playerbase has essentially "solved" the way Miyazaki makes these games and incorporates difficulty into them is fucking high, the second you go into ER and see the bosses doing those wonky delayed attacks it should've been hilariously obvious they were screwing with you

Git gud
