No stutters

Coming in 2028

Unreal Engine isn't a bad game engine.

this niggaer breaks all the promises don't trust this fucking snake ever

I can't wait for new games to run even worse than they already do while looking exactly the same way they did 10 years ago.

Are they getting rid of Lumen as well?

All marketing. Don't believe a single word they say.

can we roll back to UE4

Tim only lies when he breathes.

Death to Unreal Engine.

they will fix everything?

but it feels like no one has even done anything with ue5 yet.

yes, we just have to wait 2 more weeks for it to release

that's because ebin games doesn't intend to fix the stutters (it's not an issue because people still line up to play our slop)

easier to make games = worse performance

Epic has been working on a solution for shader stutter but it's very much wip for who knows how long.
Asset streaming is gonna remained fuck and left up to devs to work around.

UE6 is UEFN. Expecting anything else is just copium. The engine team at Epic is almost non-existent at this point, as almost all engine teams have been gutted to work on Fortnite.
source: I was on the Unreal Editor team which was almost entirely cannibalized shortly after UE5 released

whywouldanythinggoodhappen.tiff

UE5 isnt even finished

no mention of performance at all

It's over, this shitbag engine is going to doom us all

No stutters

I-I-I'll b-b-beleve it when I s-s-see it.

God I fear Tim is going to fuck everything he has built up for his metaverse dream.

Ive heard that a lot also went to Coalition.

I'm using Godot and I'm having no stutters right now
thanks but no thanks Tim

I felt like there are barely any UE5 games, and they are already advertising even newer, more bloated shit engine than they got now.
Now this is progressive

what's the point we don't even have games made in unreal 5

a lot of people have left in general. bonuses were down to about 25% of what they were at Fortnite's peak. a few months after I left they gave most people a ~25% raise to try to retain talent

Metaverse?

They're working on a fix for shader stutter but it won't actually arrive until Shader Model 7 aka next gen GPUs

Lumen is only bad when it's doing the fake software RT thing. Which frankly is incredibly impressive in itself but it does look a bit shit

How about you install a game and it installs the fucking shaders. How about I don't have to sit there with the game open looking at an installation screen

please generate everything for me so i can clog up steam front page with my slop

I was on the Unreal Editor team

Gimme some cool stories then

Shader stutter was always because of dx12, not UE5.

UE slop 5 so bad that they are already working on UE slop 6

Why the fuck is there an Unreal Engine 6?
Isn't the 5th on still barely new and not worked on?

Real. It makes no sense. UE is per-sales licensed-based, there's no way UE5 has paid for itself and there's no way UE6 is going to fix that.

If njewdie, ayyymd and incel can't make a card that can actually competently and natively render RT by 2028 then we should just give up and go back to raster. No fake frames, no fake resolution, actual real performance which used to be the norm.

It is baffling. Devs figured out how to install software without recompiling it a million years ago, before anyone reading this was even born. But for some reason, little tiny micro programs are an impossible exception. Check if driver, OS and GPU are the same as last time; if true don't compile; if not compile and save to disk. There's no excuse for this and the handwaving about EFI and blackbox firmware is all bullshit. You can write your own shaders, compile them and save them in your own machine. Consoles don't ever compile them - they're shipping with the game!

promises no stutters

wakey wakey, it's dick sucking time

The only thing I can think is they want to move on quickly after 5 turned out to be a total bomb. Granted, I don't think they're capable of addressing any of the reasons no one moved on to 5 with 6, but maybe they think they can handle the marketing launch better this time.

UE5 is 3 years old. And also UE6 isn't coming any time soon, it's at least 3 years away.
