The only turn-based game worth a damn is Dragon Quest, and that's an outlier.

Doing some of the act 3 end game content will level you up fast. Getting to 99 is just a grind for an achievement and takes a little white but there is a really high level end game area that makes grinding not too bad. I was level ~60 at the end of Act 2 but that is because I did act 3 content early and like one 15-20 minute battle was giving me 5 levels.

Actshually, it's a "3 niggas in a row" kind of game. The music is pretty good. It's competent but nothing really groundbreaking, except that onr fight in which they played a pretty good jazz tune.
It's not that difficult if you get the timing on the parries right.
All characters have their own mechanic, which I rather like. All in all, it's a pretty decent game and worth playing.

If you fuck up a build or want to start going in another direction, respec item lets you build you character again. Overall, the game gives the player a lot of customization options.

You can literally just make the game very hard if you want (by not spending ANY or minimal stat points, no luminas etc) or very easy by abusing whats given to you.

Even the position of each character affects timing - e.g. the bourgeon's miasma must be parried faster for the the character in the center position compared to the other two, since the miasma ball travels just a bit further when it goes to the sides.

There are attacks that are particularly easy and consistent, but other combos can be 2 hit, 3 hit, 4 hit... So you gotta be always on your toes.
Too many parryfags are used to fighting-game-like exact deterministic timings 100%, and seeing them seethe because the enemies dare to vary their attacks is just icing on the cake.

Another one that comes to mind is the boss at the Yellow Harvest, with his magic attack that raises some vines from the ground: The vine is faster for the middle character.
The version of the attack that hits all three at the same time doesn't have this, obviously.

Yeah, every boss will likely rekt you the first time around, but that's the FUN part of it. You know, fun like in a GAME. This is one of the reasons why E33 hits so well, it's actually fun and also so damn satisfying to pull things off. The Yellow Harvest boss had simple attack patterns so I got the 'no damage a boss' achievement with it. Felt great.

Persona has lots of flair and style but by the midgame you just have Joker do everything while the rest just twiddle their thumbs. Meanwhile E33 gives a common element to everyone (Luminas) but an unique system for each character: perfection, stains, stances, etc.
It's not like defending from attacks is a new mechanic (see: Ar Tonelico 2) but this time you don't get an EZ gauge to help so you must rely on the attack text, animation and (most importantly) SOUND.

Honestly, as the biggest modern SE hater, I can say that this conflict is partially dumb. Yes, it's fun to see yet another JRPG (or at least, JRPG-like) dunk on modern FF, but the issue here isn't the lack of turn based combat because, yes, bravely default, octopath traveler and dragon quest are a thing. No, the real issue here is the lack of quality. Every game released after XI, while not outright awful, has been pretty flawed and none of them besides maybe XII is that great. All of the mainline games after that (i don't care if shadowbringers' story is peak, your game is a complete fucking chore), as well as the VII remakes range between ok, 7/10 at most and mediocre. Why can't square enix make a new game that's just as good as VI? And while it doesn't need to be turn based, they could at least try to come up with a more interesting progression system, because, again, everything after XII really sucks in that regard. How did they come up with something like V's job system in the 90s, only for them to release something as barebones as XVI like 30 years later?
