Anon Babble - Video Games

The first one never existed.

I love when zoomers cope when they are faced with a harsh truth. I went to a school that had an elaborate wooden structure playset that was replaced while I was still at the school.

The metal and plastic playset that replaced it was also fairly cool so it wasn't a big deal.

I've never seen one with fucking watchtowers but those castles sure existed. We had a game where one would stay outside it with a soccer ball, not allowed to grab it, and had to kick it and hit someone who was in the castle for which the ground was lava. Good times, many lads would try to avoid the soccer ball by clinging to the castle outer walls or even below the slide. Some would hurt themselves doing so, blood was spilt but that's the law of the castle.

I don't get the point of making a thread like this. The answer is making games needlessly open world so there's a load of empty space between areas. You know this, I know this, why not just skip the pointless question step and make a thread about empty spaces in open worlds. The discussion won't be good on Anon Babble, but this thread won't be good either.

There was a playground like top in Kingsport, Tennessee where I grew up at Andrew Johnson Elementary.

We used to have our moms drive us across town to play there because it was so cool

Looks like it's still there

It literally did
I'm still assblasted they tore down my old playground I used to play at as a kid because I wanted to take my kids to it one day
It's some soulless barebones shit now

Also godbless my mates dad he was a fucking champ that literally built me and him a treehouse with bridges and shit on his property that shit was like a castle as a child

Zoomers are lucky if they even get swings these days

my area growing up had one

Similar to how low testosterone cucks with their Karen owners are putting padding on every sharp corner of modern playgrounds so nobody gets hurt, vidya suffers through similar design decisions to not upset casual shitters.
Everything needs to be safe and streamlined to not upset or inconvinience anybody.

used to pee down the slide

Why is modern vidya so empty?6 posts

Top is expensive, bottom is cheap, simple as.

you played too much vidya as a kid then
every city had one, even my bumpkin town did

This is the most European pic Ivevevercseen.

I always got hurt on the wooden ones

It's from rural Tennessee in the US, lol

Have they taken away the soulful playground equipment? I guess seesaws and those springy things that you ride could be removed for being dangerous.

I know denying reality is the zoomer's motto but even my playground where I grew up had a smaller tree fort and a lot more stuff around it. It was gradually dismantled in part because upkeep was costly and because helicopter parents would seethe that their little Timmy got a scratch playing around them.

get splinters from everything

metal slide cooks your ass as you go down

Yeah I'm glad they changed it

Thry had one of these in upstate ny st lawrence area, it was kino

lmao

Back when they made the top both wood and labor were cheap. Now, construction workers have to pay for quarter million dollar homes and wood is always a premium. Cities would rather invest in a metal and HDPE playground that they don't have to maintain.

Make bullying faggots great again

pussy

bottom

clear, pure fun

top

junkie and/or tranny prostitute hideaway

it's mimicking your brain

tranny prostitute hideaway

but where do you hide? It looks kinda empty

My home town had a park like this, but the wood was starting to rot and the city council was planning to tear it down and replace it with the standard plastic set up.
Townspeople got up in arms and said they wanted to keep the originally wood style and in the end they just rebuilt it how it originally was.

Pretty sure this is Prairie Play in Urbana, IL.
If so, I played there many a time. Shit was so cash.

Just because you didn't get to experience it doesn't mean it didn't happen

gee i wonder why there's a junkie and tranny epidemic

Pinkerton park in franklin, tn

Why is modern vidya so empty?

because modern assets are expensive
in the past companies would have a team of people making the most important assets locally and another team outsourced to make all the random props for the enviroment artists to use

but the journos found out that the asian outsourcing studios were exploiting their employees and pressured the industry into shutting it down
so instead they just pretend that ray tracing and fog is detail rather than pay the extra money for junior prop artists

but the journos found out that the asian outsourcing studios were exploiting their employees and pressured the industry into shutting it down

Strange how they haven't done that for every other industry

but the journos found out that the asian outsourcing studios were exploiting their employees and pressured the industry into shutting it down

Got any proof of this?

they tried with the film industry but its so commonplace that you won't find a VFX studio that doesn't have exploitation.

search 'lemonsky studios'

Your town is not shit. Good for you.

nigger have you looked at the credits in any modern game

top pic is splinter city for kids lol

n March 2021, game journalist Chris Bratt from People Make Games interviewed 19 current and former employee from Lemon Sky Studios and Indonesia-based animation studio Brandoville regarding working conditions. The testimonial from employees revealed that Lemon Sky Studios allegedly put its artists through unpaid overtime and had them work weekends to meet tight deadlines from triple-A clients

The higher-ups allegedly used passive-aggressive methods to pressure Lemon Sky artists to work overtime.[30] Lemon Sky Studios denied the allegations as "factually and legally inaccurate" and "are surprised that such allegations are targeted at Lemon Sky", stating they abide all Malaysian employment laws. Lemon Sky Studios also stated they will "take appropriate measures in response", include "obtaining feedback from all of our employees regarding their individual concerns".

So nothing happened.
However...

In November 2024, Lemon Sky Studios, via its parent company iCandy Interactive Limited, announced that Lemon Sky Studios had initiated legal action against Cheng-Fei Wong and Ka King Foong, the former executives of Lemon Sky Studios. The lawsuit, filed in the High Court of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, alleges several breaches of fiduciary duties, breaches of trust, and other unlawful actions.

The legal action stems from an internal review and forensic audit conducted by Lemon Sky Studios The investigation revealed suspicious transactions involving an undisclosed privately held Malaysian company called Momodica Sdn. Bhd., which was allegedly majority-owned by Wong and Foong.

According to iCandy Interactive, Wong and Foong allegedly arranged for Lemon Sky Studios to pay Momodica RM1,505,750 (approximately A$524,542) irrespective of the quality or quantity of sub-contracting work undertaken.

Nothing was done over reports labor exploitation, but shit went down on executives embezzling funds

Imagine the splinters

wood bad because splinters
t. retarded overprotective parent that hates fun

We've got one too in Mokena IL, theres no good maps pictures of it besides the overhead but its still awesome in person

wood park.jpg - 1144x733, 253.62K

There was one just like this that my school would always stop for lunch at during feild trips, but I don't remember which town it was in. There used to be one in the park in the next town over, but it recently got replaced by a metal and plastic one.

I pity the children who don't know a world before 9/11

Seal with lacquer.

But I saw it

I've seen ones that are way bigger, like twice as tall and there are rope nets and shit.

we used to have one in a tiny beach town in california

One, they aren't.
Two, themepark game worlds filled with tons of filler shit every 50 meters for ADHD meth addicts are awful.

Is that Lion Lairs from Lockwood School? It looks like the exact same play fort played in as a kid?

Not true at all. It literally looks like the exact copy of the playfort at my school many years ago before they tore it down

Pussy cry baby

The all wood one fucking sucks, bees and shit EVERYWHERE

Yes they did.
t. born before the 2000s
I hate zoomers so god damn much

There were thousands of places across North America just like this

masochistic retard

No these wooden playgrounds were all very standard in North America throughout the 80s and 90s. I'm almost certain there was a specific name for these and they all followed a similar blueprint and were designed by the same company

Vivid memory of my friend pissing on a swing after school and one of the cutest girls in our class swinging on it the next day

I don't want to know how many kids died falling down trees

I remember some asshole poured a milkshake down the slide and I went down it and got it all over my pants

It looks so near identical to a playground that used to be around where I grew up (maybe it's still there) that I'm paranoid that I'm secretly being doxxed by this thread.

This is the true cutoff. If you didn't climb trees as a child you grew up in a gay soulless world. I want to say after 2015 kids no longer climbed trees but it could be even earlier

Did she have a baby after?
That's how it works, right????

They streamlined it for the modern audience.

No anon see I had one just like it near me

There is still a wooden playground in the part of Carlisle, PA I would go to visit my extended family

Fair enough. I don't even live in America, and we had one.

Where do you live?

natural selection at work

Wouldn't you like to know.

Yes so I can track you down and rape your family. You caught me.

I grew up with two of them, and a local playground here had one just until 2 years ago when they tore it down to convert the school building into office spaces.

Just my family? Alright. Australia.

zoomer...

Yes it did, you poor child. It was peak, much like video games used to be.

Finally a W for Democrats. I woulda been right there with them.

I did climb trees and looking back, it's insane parents allowed it.

I had one 500m from my house, but with a broader wave slide and green netting instead of that red one in the picture and it was higher up leading to one lone tower. There was also a small labyrinth underneath the towers.

I think it was somewhere around 15 years ago they tore it down and built a cheap plastic looking one like the lower pic.

based. every single wooden structure or anything similar has been long gone from my city and replaced with some metal + plastic mess with gimmicks that don't work after a relatively short time

complex enclosed marble track with a bunch of gears you turn

jammed after a year

some sort of battery operated drum set thing

nonfuntional after 6 months

big rocking ship with a bunch of seats and a table

broken off entirely after 3 years and now a bunch of jagged metal surrounded by warning tape

the playground they tore down to make this one was 60 years old and had two beams needing to be replaced that were the ONLY real concern. beyond that it was "nuuuhhh wood dangerous because the blue imp salesguy said it was"
