Deeply flawed character trying his best to do what he thinks is best

deeply flawed character trying his best to do what he thinks is best

Why is it such a kino trope?

Beating up the Russian was based

name a character that has suffered more than punished kenny

normal human being

"huh? why is this character relatable?"

A real life alien is posting OP for once. What's alien dick-sucking like, you massive faggot?

How is this lad deeply flawed? Just an ordinary guy

Clem

How is this lad deeply flawed?

He's a straight white male.

Why did no one care about Ben?

he was a constant fuck up and left clem to get eaten alive. i was happy to drop his worthless ass from the bell tower.

I like Kenny, he’s the innocently racist where he assumes Lee knows his way around criminal stuff, but goes ahead and basically takes Clem as a daughter. He’s a good man overall, maybe has a bit of an anger issue but a good man, and telltale actually did a good job showing rural type people are not backward bad people

Beat the chudcel

Everything goes tits up

Kenny's retarded, should've just shot him

I think its funnier when you go back and almost every single point in the series Kenny was right. Also I still can't get over there was the Kennyfags vs Janefags back in the day.

SEE CLEM HE IS MAD BECAUSE I PRETENDED TO KILL A BABY HE'S INSANE DERANGED BECAUSE I ACTUALLY DIDN'T I WAS JUST PRETENDING

I feel like people have a rose tinted nostalgia for Kenny. He was an interesting character, but lets not pretend that he didn't have the mood swings of a teenage girl, even before he lost his family. He could also hold grudges like a bitch and it really pissed me off how he went off on me in Savannah about how I never have his back even if I did except for that scene in the freezer with Larry.

lol truer words were never spoken. The amount of fags simping was unreal

A lot of people seethed about how annoying or dumb characters where in TTG walking dead. Apparently people didn't understand characters like Ben and Larry were extremely well written and acted exactly like a person like that would.

Alone ending is the most kino one for season 2. You get to give Kenny peace and leave that dumb whore Jane to kill herself alone once she finds out she's pregnant. In a meta sense, killing Kenny is also a better send off to his character where he either dies in a car accident in ANF or wanders off to parts unknown (and Wellington falls in a couple of years anyway wtf).

tried saving a potentially zombified Larry in a tiny, locked up meat cellar when all he did was bitch at everyone

ngmi

Reminder Jane is such a peace of shit she didn't shoot herself but hung herself so she would come back as a zombie and attack Clementine and the baby and either kill them or traumatized Clem into forcing her to put down the zombie

Jane is fucking shit

he didn't play as paragon Lee

OP here. I posted the wrong image sorry. Here's the correct one.

It's because those people aren't aware that these video game characters are written to be their own people, the decisions they make are largely based on THEIR viewpoints not yours
There will always be a limit to what you can manipulate a character to do in a story-driven game

There is a time and place to be virtuous. Putting the lives of everyone in danger in the tiny, locked up cellar was not one of those times. If Larry had turned, everyone could have died. They had practically no means of defending themselves. The closest thing to righteousness Lee could have displayed would be to try to resuscitate Larry while others were pinning him down, prepared to smash a salt lick over the Larry's head in a moments notice. But that is incredibly risky. Way to risky for an absolutely useless faggot like Larry. Instead 'Paragon Lee' locked lips with Larry without any consideration to what would've happened if zombified Larry ripped his face off.

I played my Lee the first time around as essentially a melanin enriched season 1 (show) Rick. There was no way he was going to execute a father (no matter how cantankerous he may be) in front of that man's daughter and Clem, at least not without making an effort to try and save his life first. IIRC it was only a couple of months into the outbreak at that point so I headcannoned that Lee wouldn't have stooped that low yet. Lee has killed before out of passionate rage but this would be the first opportunity he had to kill a human being in cold blood. Wasn't what he would have done imo.

Brad from Lisa is kinda like him, they're actually very similar in the "man turned evil from not being aware of how damaged they are"
they would never see how fucked up and controlling they are, they're both very good portrayal of human "evil", in their minds they're in the right
I hate that after the whole escalation of the season 2 ending he's entirely fine and not a complete mess from being shattered in pieces 50000 times since the apocalypse started, huge copout from the writers in my book but eh

to this day I can't bring myself to let kenny kill jane

spoiler

she deserved it tbqhwyf

I agree with you to some extent. Lee and Kenny killing Larry is done in a pretty heartless manner. But the reality is, Larry was extraordinarily dangerous at that moment. Gambling with Larry was gambling with the lives of everyone in that cellar. I believe they already knew that everyone dead came back as zombies. I don't think it would be entirely unrealistic for Lee to come to the reality of the situation. But maybe you're right about Lee not being quite the realist yet.

she did it to help clementine see how far gone he was. Since episode 2 when you find kenny he's clearly written as already very very damaged compared to season 1 where he was already a controlling asshole at times.
it's hard to argue what jane did was even remotely okay
but it's even harder to argue staying with kenny is safe at all, as he is in the last stretch of the last episode

but it's even harder to argue staying with kenny is safe at all

well I agree, but I think letting Kenny kill Jane and then entering Wellington without him is the best ending for his character

It kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth that he leaves thinking he found a safe haven for his kids only for Wellington to collapse just two years later.

it's too painful to witness him kill someone so brutally in fit of rage and become an actual monster
but realistically what makes you think he wouldn't bully clem into following him somewhere else on some other insane plan, that's kinda what he did the entire time he's with lee and clementine, except now he's an actual monster

those flashbacks were the actual lowest points in the series, I don't know how they thought they were okay

Didn't people bash two best friends for their hatred for him?

Those flashbacks are exactly why I prefer my Clem to go alone at the end of S2. Kenny gets reunited with his family, Jane is left behind to an hero, and Clem's newfound independence coupled with watching the cabin group slowly whittled down to just AJ feeds nicely into her "tough as nails, trust no one" persona in the next game.

Everyone acts completely insane and irrational towards Kenny in season for literally - literally - no reason.
A bunch of people showed up knowing they were being followed and Kenny let them into his new home. They didn't even warn anyone that they were being followed and as a result all of Kenny's friends died, his home was destroyed, and he was tortured until he lost an eye.
Then they're like

WTF why is this guy on edge?? He's crazy!

So they ostracize him but they forgive the meth head chick who was responsible for leading Carver to the resort and getting all of Kenny's friends killed.
Then the survivors steal all the supplies, leaving a baby alone in the cold with no food, and run off with the Russian kid who shot Clem.
The game tries really really hard to gaslight you into thinking Kenny is insane and irrational when everyone else acts insane and irrational.

Jane was responsible for all of that since she robbed them. Chud would have not been butthurt and organize an attack on a buck of impoverished literally whos.
And honestly when they got ambushed and surrounded that should have been the end of them.

What's worse is seeing people actually fall for it, remember the god fucking awful two best friends let's play where they got so mind broken over kenny existing they unironically defended fucking arvo? them siding with jane is completely unsurprising but defending arvo is on a whole other level of retarded.

Giving chud his stuff back

He assaults you later anyway

Jane's a shit character but this is some mindbreak if I ever saw it

it's implied at multiple times at the lodge that kenny is on the edge of losing it and has a huge temper
he's always been abusive, towards ben in s1, and when he's not screaming at everyone he's a mean asshole to clem if she doesn't side with him completely
everyone suddenly liking bonnie was weird, she's a liar but also a victim of carver she's blinded by the safety he brings and michael madsen's voice

Then the survivors steal all the supplies, leaving a baby alone in the cold with no food, and run off with the Russian kid who shot Clem.

at this point kenny is already completely insane
he's aggressive towards people trying to help him, torturing a teenager and you're asked multiple times to talk to him because he's shutting everyone out violently
they're not leaving the baby as much as they're trying to get away from kenny, who at this point calls you a traitor and ungrateful and basically abuses you if you're not completely in with his plan

The game tries really really hard to gaslight you into thinking Kenny is insane and irrational when everyone else acts insane and irrational.

you're really put in a room with him until you have to realize he's crazy, you HAVE to agree with him, and he'll argue it's to protect people, that's called abuse, it's not gaslighting it's storytelling

Gaslight into thinking Kenny is insane and irrational

Marching through a blizzard with a baby, a child, and recently pregnant woman to a safe zone that he apparently never thought to go and throwing a bitch fit if someone disagrees doesn't really scream "sane human being"

I played Telltale Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 with my family back when I was in Middle School. I will admit, I was the only one in my family not into zombie stuff but I did it because they wanted me to. Especially since I was young, I kinda didn't understand what Kenny went through, especially since I only joined them a while after Kenny and his family was introduced. But when I looked back at it later on I think after a few years the series finished, I do have to admit, Kenny had some pretty amazing writing. He actually was a human being, and just went through a bunch of fucked stuff. Really, I think me and my family only killed him during our playthrough because the fact he scared everybody else off in a way. But also I was a stupid kid at the time.

Why was Season 2 written so terribly compared to Season 1?

they're not talking about the same things, why do you think it's terrible?

Kenny was about the only fucking good thing in season 2. Glad he got a happy ending in my playthrough (I simply ignore Flordiaman's retarded death in the game after. What a dumb way to go)

I mean, even Kenny cared about him in the end if you saved him at the clocktower, even if he was a worthless sack of shit, Kenny was willing to mercy kill him before juicing

Extensive rewrites

I think it depends on how much you sided with him too, because he had my back 100% my first playthrough because I did smash the fuck out of Larry's skull, so he helped me every step of the way so even with his temper he quickly became my favorite guy in the entire franchise

mfw even if it's a retarded ending for Kenny in s3 he still dies to protect you and it's pretty implied he and Clem were together for a long while after s2, but Jane kills kills herself like 3 seconds after the end of s2 like she's a transsexual speedrunner

Capture185.jpg - 614x687, 29.25K

Conflict where there doesn't need to be any. Characters being overly aggressive for no reason. The adults being bumbling idiots while the child does all the work. Things like that.

that and the ultra despair girls playthrough made me realize I fucking hate people that double down on being wrong or being stubborn over shit.
they have had some nuclear shit takes during those LPs.

Yeah, Season 3 and the last one were quite awful. From motives to how people acted. Like god damn, raiders outright kidnapping children to be warriors? The writing really got shit after the first two from what I seen

The MC being an 11 year-old girl retroactively HAD to make everyone else retarded.

What stopped him from ending it all after his family died? He just moves on like "whelp better keep living I guess."

female enters his life

everything becomes much worse

Accurate

I mean he specifically says

You don't just end it cause it's hard. You stick it out, and you help the folks you care about

In s1 after Kat killed herself and when you see the couple that killed themselves in a bed. Kenny is basically depressed as shit but too stubborn to kill himself while people need protected

Killing off the best character in episode 1 wasn't a good start

I like that they expected me to hate him when he literally did nothing wrong

S2 climax shoulda been Luke vs Kenny

How the fuck did he survive?

I think that's what it was originally going to be before the rewrites

Has magic powers

Doesn't share them with his kid, wife, or anyone else he comes across

Kenny's a dick

You get to give Kenny peace

You can give him peace by entering Wellington alone.
Nothing in the world would give Kenny more comfort than knowing he kept Clem and AJ safe even if he can't be with them.
He gladly takes that sacrifice, and it's the most kino ending because at least this way you have ambiguity of him still being alive somewhere instead of being written out in the most retarded fucking way imaginable.
Killing Jane is a net positive for the world regardless of how much of a schizo you think Kenny is.
